I was watching a show on the History Channel "The Power of Three". It's interesting that other cultures also give importance to it. Of course the HC is famous for half truths and biased shows but if they are correct it really blew my socks off when they said that our DNA is in three molecule combination!

Our universe is triune.

There is:

1). Space
2). Matter
3). Time

And they break down into:

1). Space.....1). Length 2). Breath 3). Heigth
2). Matter....1). Energy 2). Motion 3). Phenomena
3). Time.......1). Present 2). Past 3). Future

Seems to me God has been smacking us in the face with the Trinity forever.

Here is some material I had pulled off a we sight at some point but I do not remember where.

"THREE - In scripture, the number three represents that which is solid, real, substantial, and something in its completeness.

1. It is the first of the four perfect numbers which are 3 (divine perfection); 7 (spiritual perfection); 10 (ordinal perfection); and 12 (governmental perfection).
2. Three times the angelic Seraphim cry "Holy, Holy, Holy," Isaiah 6:3 and Revelation 4:8.
3. After the Great Flood mankind descended from the three sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth, Genesis 10:1-32.
4. There were three divisions of the desert Tabernacle and later the Temple in Jerusalem: the Outer Court, the Holy Place, and the Holy of Hollies Exodus 27 and 1Kings 6:1-37.

5. The heavenly Jerusalem has three gates on each of its four sides, Revelation 21:13.
6. Three is symbolic of the Trinity, the triune nature of God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three is also recognized as the number of the Holy Spirit." End quote.

Everything in the natural world is built upon triadic structure from the formation of the universe to the way you brush your teeth. You cannot escape it.

According to Hebrew tradition, the number three represents divine completeness and perfection. I tend to agree with that.

Thank you for your comments. Do either of you remember where is the OT that angels say Holy Holy Holy?

Isaiah 6:3 in the OT "And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!" and Rev,4:8 in the NT "And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

When we are said to be in the image of God, that is certainly not referring to a physical resemblance.

the three characteristics that we share with God are:

intelect: God thinks, plans, reasons, etc.
will: God decides
emotion: God is said to be pleased, grieve, become angry, and to sorrow.

We are a triune being as well. We are body soul and spirit. That is how we are made in his likeness.

I am afraid this doesn't quite answer it. God created man as an extension of himself, a creature that was like him, created in His image. What is there about man that bears the likeness of his Creator? Like his Maker, man possesses the same intrinsic qualities that define the nature and character of God, yet limited in degree. Man was created as a holy and righteous being. He was created as an eternal being endowed with wisdom. He was created with the capacity to love, to dispense mercy, kindness, goodness, compassion, and justice. Man was given transcendence – he was placed over all God’s creation to ruler over it. This is what defines man as one created in the image and likeness of God. As such, man is the closest thing to God that exists in creation.

Why can't both answers be true?

Sorry for the earlier response. I thought I was responding to a different thread where I was expecting a question along those lines. To answer your question, we know that scripture presents a picture of God that reflects all of the attributes I described and many more. We do not have any scriptures that would suggest that God possesses either a body or a soul. The only similarity in the triune structure of man is in the fact that God is a triune being.

Gods body was seen by moses his hand seen writing on the wall. He wrestled with Abraham. Jesus who was in the beginning came in the flesh in a body. Jesus came human. All humans have body soul and spirit.

Do not confuse anthropomorphic theophanies with the unseen nature of God. What Moses was shown on the mountain was not a body but merely the lesser characteristics of God. Jesus came in a material body through the prenatal process but this does not suggest he possessed any type of bodily form before his incarnation. Revelation is limited because of the limited capacity of the human mind to comprehend things it cannot envision and because of the inability of human language to explain things of the non-natural world. Revelation about God is very often anthropomorphic. This is because man can only understand that with which he has an experiential frame of reference. In order for God to reveal himself in scripture, he uses human language to present himself to us in terms with which we are all familiar and to which each of us can relate based on our own individual experiences. For example, in his relationship to man God speaks of himself as father, friend, shepherd, master, judge, king, and husband. He speaks of such physical traits as hair, wings, thigh, hand, arm, heart, and bosom. He speaks of character traits such as love, knowledge, wisdom, hate, will, anger, mercy, tenderness, and compassion. We are all familiar with these terms and can relate to them based on our own experiences, but only to a limited degree. We can only understand these terms to the degree that each of us experiences them at the personal level. This means that each of us will have developed different levels of understanding about each of these concepts. Regardless of one’s level of understanding of these terms, we can never fully understand them to the degree that they relate to God.

You have fully arrayed your arguments with hog wash. You have taken the descriptive nature of Gods body and thrown it away to insert your own.

In Ex.33:20 God tells Moses....And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live.

So what was it that Moses, Aaron, Nadab, and Abihu and seventy of the elders saw in Ex.24:9,10a when they claimed they saw the God of Israel Ex.24:10a?
