When someone says they need a prayer warrior, what exactly does that mean? What separates a prayer warrior from somebody who just prays?

well, I don't know if it is true of all who call themselves prayer warriors
but I think the idea is that they go into spiritual battle when they pray
(rather than just "oh, and then I want to ask .... , ok that's, it, bye")

This is a good question, and refreshing in that it isn't just another post about (fill in the blank). :)

What I can tell you is how my church, CoG, Anderson, In. believes/acts concerning this question.

1) Somebody who just prays.

Normally, somebody who just prays (as in their daily prayers) are praying about personal issues, and or for family/loved ones/friends, and they do this on a daily basis. This is very important and not to be discounted as less than the concept of a prayer warrior. In truth, all who sincerely pray to God are soldiers of the Cross, and warriors in their own right.

2) Prayer Warriors (my church designates as Prayer Chain)

In our church congregations, there are elders (men and women) who are on a Contact List, and each person on that list has a copy of the list. When an event occurs (whatever it may be) that someone is so concerned about as to request the prayer warriors be contacted to pray, all the members on the list will be contacted, told of the specific event that has occurred, and all will be in sincere and fervent prayer for God to intervene, or to resolve the issue being prayed for. As well, when the congregation next meets, the person who triggered the "call to prayer" may well go up before the congregation and be anointed and the elders will gather and lay on hands and pray in unity for the need designated.

It could be a prayer for healing, for salvation, for intervention in some situation, whatever...........This also is very important in the lives of the congregation, for it is a united petition being present to God for His will to be done, and for His grace and mercy to be bestowed upon the person/reason being brought to His Throne.

So, the difference is that Prayer Warriors/the Prayer Chain is praying for one specific reason/person/event rather than someone who just prays their normal daily prayers that may cover numerous subjects.

Hope this helps. God bless............and never discount the power of prayer! :)

A REAL prayer warrior will never refer to themselves as such, they will just do it and say nothing (even as Christ did during His earthly life)!

Somebody shoulda told James this huh?

James 5:13 .) Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
14 .) Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15 .) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
16 .) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

This is a little off topic but . . .

One morning while driving from New Jersey to Florida, I passed a church in North Carolina. People were in the parking lot and going inside. I pulled over and asked them if I may worship with them -- a northern boy not properly dressed for worship and all. They were delighted.

During the service there was a call to prayer, and half of the 250 worshippers went to the front of the sanctuary and got on their knees, and I followed. An elderly gentleman lead the prayer and at one point he said, "Lord, we pray for every single person around the world that does not recognize you as Lord and Savior, because without you, they're going to Hell." The Spirit of that congregation was overwhelmingly loving, gracious and filled with Truth.

The prayer was Scripturally based, from the heart, and for me, incredibly refreshing. It was as real as it gets, not the fake, phony, politically correct garbage I choke on everyday here in the Northeast. I think of that congregation often and pray they are blessed in every way to God's glory.
