17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.

I believe the key words here are "in Christ". The issue is how does one get "in Christ" to be a new creature?

To be in Christ includes many things:

Repent of your sins and receive forgiveness through His blood shed on the cross as a sacrifice for them.
Surrender to His lordship over your life.
Abide in His love for you.
Embrace His teachings.
Receive His grace and mercy.
On-going communication of prayer and praise.
Be baptized in His name and receive the Holy Spirit by faith to live in you.

Yet my little grandson one day when he was four said "He is in my heart" and he pointed to his chest.

I think you just KNOW if you are or not.

The spirit of Matthew 11-25, revealed to children , hidden from wise men - you have reminded me of this:

Have you seen the video of Myriam in Iraq her family mainly wiped out by isis, now in a sorry refugee camp, yet despite all the reasons she may have to hate, Her faith is so strong it puts adults to shame, she forgives ISIS for all they have done, and praises God for what he has done and is doing for her.

It puts the the things we may complain about into a perspective as trivial. Worth watching.

Absolutely LOVE this childlike Faith. They aren't corrupted by bias thinking or fear of peers.
It's TRUTH and they accept the beauty of it. It just seems so logical to them.

The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God

To be in Christ is to be born again, but it is WAY MORE than just a phrase or saying. "IN CHRIST" is a very literal thing. To be In Christ, is to be in the living, breathing body of Christ, the bread of his body which was broken or divided for us to partake of, and to live this life in remembrance of his sacrifice, and this phrase "IN CHRIST" includes the mystery of Christ spoken of by the Angel and is to be accomplished at the 7th and last trumpet, as spoken in Revelation 10.
Paul wrote things very confusingly in some ways, he had a way of saying things without saying them, and sometimes he said one point thru many words.
In Christ is one of those things. It is easily over looked, and the emphasis and gravity of it is very often not understood.
Galatians 6: 15*"Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is a new creation."*

And to be a new creation is very very deep, remember, GOD was supposed to be thru with all his work right?? Understand then what the writer is implying, a new creation requires work, and what Paul and Jesus both understood is that GOD WAS NOT THRU WORKING ON HUMANITY, IF HE WERE, JESUS CAME FOR NOTHING.
"My food,"*said Jesus,*"is to do the will of him who sent me and to FINISH his work."-John 4:34
Jesus said to finish his work, what work was that?? What was unfinished in man and how does that involve being INSIDE CHRIST and a new creation.
ANSWER: "by abolishing in his flesh*the law with its commandments and regulations.*His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace,*
and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross,*by which he put to death their hostility."
One may say "well it was Jesus working not God, his purpose was to make a new man from the two", but to prove it is God working just read two quotes from Jesus.
#1-"Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me?*The words I say to you are not just my own.*Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing HIS WORK."
#2-"Jesus said to them,*"My Father*is always at HIS WORK to this very day, and I, too, am working."*
Do you have any idea what all of this is saying and the gravity of such understanding?
If GOD IS still working, and if there is something left unfinished in man that Jesus had to finish, that implies that the work in man on day 6 of Genesis is still going on. It's still day 6. So to be IN CHRIST, completes the transforming of mortal man into an immortal being, just like God is. It transforms sinful man into a holy being, because of the removal of sin by his sacrifice, which is imperative because God is holy. It takes a man in a body that was planted in dishonor, and makes it risen in honor, which God is as well. Everything transformed by being a new creation completes the image of God in man. Sinful man is not the image of God, born again man, created to be like God absolutely is. Thus when Jesus said it is finished on the cross that is what he was implying, that the way for man to be transformed into the image of God was now complete, and until the last man is transformed, that work is still ongoing, even to this very day. This is a mystery of Christ, and more than just a "phrase".

It is God revealing His Son "in us" by way of His Spirit, and giving us a new heart like His, writing His words upon our heart and being made a new creature in Christ. Jesus spoke of it, and when it happens "at that day" a person then truly understands what Jesus meant when he said...

John 14:18-21[SUP]18 [/SUP]I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
[SUP]19 [/SUP]Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
[SUP]20 [/SUP]At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Yep, correct, the Paraclete, the Spirit of Truth, Indwelling in that Inner Man, Energizing your spirit, leading you as His Own, How does one Get into Christ? not based on mans merits no, but Because HE CHOSE YOU!.... Ye are In Him because He has made it so... all other 'ways' are works of men and men in religion... indeed!

Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the Strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

Elect according to the Foreknowledge of God the Father, through Sanctification of the Spirit, unto Obedience and Sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His Abundant Mercy hath begotten us again unto a Lively Hope by the Resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1 Peter

those who make it their 'own merit' or by their own 'power' to Get into Christ----- > this is what the Master says.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He/she that entereth not by the Door into the Sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. John 10

I believe it's both God's grace to a sinner and the continuing and growing repentance & believing of such person. Even the continuing and growing would not be possible unless by the Grace of God. So it's actually all Grace.

Myriam is a superbly blessed daughter of God. Holy Spirit has blessed her so much. May the Holy Spirit be with her continually and use her as a blessing wherever she is. Amiin.

2 Cor 5:17 "Therefore "if" any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

2 Tim 2:1 "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."

Where is grace?
In Christ Jesus. One must be "in Christ" to be in God's grace and be a new creature.

So it cannot be any more important for a person to be "in Christ"...salvation depends upon it.

The OP posted the following verse:

2 Cor 5:17 "Therefore "if" any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

The "IF" makes it conditional that if one is to be a new creature, then he must be in Christ.

How does one get in Christ to be a new creature?

Gal 3:27 "
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

Baptism is what puts one in Christ. The Greek word for "put on" is endyo and means "
to sink into (clothing), put on, clothe one's self - Strongs. It carries the idea of putting on a coat. When one puts on a coat then he is in the coat. Likewise when one is baptized into Christ then he is in Christ having put on Christ. Anyone that tries to find a way to put on Christ other than baptism is not just misunderstanding the verse but trying to change the verses/bible.
