Now that im born again I was wondering if it was still okay to write my books. There quite violent but by no means promote it. And all my writing has a christian message to it. I know lord of the rings is quite violent. I hate real violence too.

Now that you are born again, first pray about your books. Follow the leading you get after prayer. If there is any hesitation in your spirit, just don't continue the books.

I used to enjoy reading horror books, especially vampire books. I don't regret reading them at all but I put such reading material away long ago because its not edifying. Maybe one day I'll pick up a horror book for kicks, but I will never throw myself into it like I did back in the day. If you want to write, listen to Joidevivere; pray, and use your discernment.

does the mere existence of violence make something wrong?
the history of the world. natural history. the hatching of an egg.
maybe, as an author, it's a question and an idea you should explore.

My MG novel is about stuffed animals becoming illegal, so they have to learn how to make it on their own. I've killed one character off in the first novel. (Can't see a need to kill another one, any time in the next six novels.) I'm not saying anything anti-God, so why not? If he gives us a talent, aren't we supposed to use it?

we're all graced with multiple talents -
BC they can be profitable and bring us some kudos,
but I have found that for me they were truly just a
waste because they lacked in Spiritual meaning and Light.

AC, my world changed and so did my actions and words -
giving back and learning to express myself with the new Holy Love
that was so graciously given opened up my heart to desire only a
pureness in need and expression.

Amen to this! Like the Word says, we are a New Creation. :)

Just try not to confuse any new seekers by advocating violence, since nonviolence was the underlying theme of all of Jesus' teaching.

I see it this way, there's violence and there's action..I don't believe violence and bloodshed for the sake of violence. I like action though, you know being chased, bit of wrestling etc. I know what you mean as a writer, I had ideas before I was born again that I let go years ago but at the same time it paralysed my writing because I was trying to work out what I 'should' write or the boundaries I shouldn't go beyond. Fast forward a few years I've found that my imagination naturally doesn't come up with violent ideas, crude language or immoral themes anymore so now I'm learning to be more free in what I'm writing and I find the ideas I come up with have underlying themes that point towards things of faith and an underlying message. A story telling another story.

Robert McCammon is Christian and has written many horror books, and does what you just said, he includes godly virtues in his books and sometimes flat out glorifies Jesus Christ.
