I heard a quote once "A full understanding and knowledge of the Bible is the fastest way to Atheism" Not word for word but the same idea. Im curious to know what you people think of this quote. I of course believe it to be untrue.

Im not sure an atheist posted it a few months ago on Meetme. The reason I post this is things like this still bother me I know there will be a point when they dont when my faith is strong. But its always nice to re-inforce its untruthfulness

It should read "A full misunderstanding and lacking knowledge of the bible is the fastest way to atheism!"

Question his motive? why? don't you have the truth?

Lets talk about statistics.

There is 1 bible, but there is thousands or churches with different philosophies.

but only one can be completely correct. so the possibility to be in a church where the doctrine is 100% correct is about 0.1, Scary !

Stats please, or its fear mongering...

To answer the OP, anyone who says that is not born of God and therefore are unable to understand the word, hence they get frustrated.

Just read your Profile Page, and there are some disturbing words found there.......maybe you should start by asking people here to help you in your walk with Christ before trying to take on professional unbelievers? Just saying.......

A full understanding and knowledge of the Bible is the fastest way to, A Great Deep Mystery.

The books of the bible are mostly written by unknown authors. Archaeologists and historians labeled them P and Q. Most the works come from their time periods. Lots of books are before time of Christ lots about 60-70 years after Christ. The orders of chronology may be jumbled and who sanctioned what books may not be totally clear. All of this does not mean the word of God is not the most significant of works but like its been said. The Lord works in mysterious ways. I say let the faithful enjoy the mystery. That's my two cents and perspective. Lord Knows.

I dunno, it sounds pretty vacuous to me. Anyone can make vacuous statements like that. Watch:

- Wisdom is the surest path toward theism.

- Cheeseburgers are the tastiest way to enlightenment.

- Understanding oneself is the fastest way to riches.

I dunno, they all sound pretty empty to me. They all, yours included, sound like something you would find in a fortune cookie.

For a claim to be something meaningful, it has to have substance; it has to have reason and has to be warranted.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. That's in the bible. Guess what atheists don't have? Wisdom...

A full understanding and knowledge of the Bible will definitely promote wisdom, which is anti-atheism.

Sinful man without the Holy Spirt, trying to read the bible, is like someone with a bad eyesight reading in a dark room.

The Holy spirit is the light and renewing your mind is like renewing your eyesight, then you can read and understand God's word.

Jesus Thanks His Father

“I thank you, Father, Lord of Heaven and Earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 11:25-27
