I have the Bible app on my phone. You can choose from plenty of different versions to read. The version I can understand the best so far is CEB common English bible. And ofcourse it's different then the KJV. There are some things that aren't said on.other versions. So if there a right one to read?

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

Ask God our Father in Christ Jesus, and let Him guide you through His Holy Spirit to what He sees best.

I was about to reply to the OP; but your advice is better than what I would have said!

Find a version that you understand. If it is paraphrased, check it from time to time against the word for word kinds. Like ESV, NASB, KJV etc. I remember reading the Living Bible at one point, and I felt like I was getting a lot out of it. Then something didn't ring true at all. So I checked it and sure enough, it was really opinion, not translation. So that was the end of that experiment. Sometimes I try and read the Message, but that one bogs me down, too!

Not sure about the CEB, I have not personally read it. I think the big thing is to read and study. The more you know about the Word of God, the more God will bless you.

That is a very complicated question. Some people swear by the King James and it has particularly beautiful prose.....but a lot of translation errors.

Some say they don't like the NIV. That it undermines the deity of Jesus.

I know a very good student of the bible and he uses the New American Standard a lot.

Then I once heard someone writing on this very topic say that the one you actually use or read is the best.

I recommend that you have a word for word bible at least rather than just a paraphrased version.

I also think it good to have multiple versions just so you can compare and draw more deeply from the text.

E-sword has the bible for free and so does biblegateway.

There are also multiple commentaries online such as Wesley's and Matthew Henry's and Clarke's for help with passages and you can also get a bible handbook.

The more tools you have the more you can learn.

I am also fond of my Young's literal translation....when in doubt you can always check against it.

Since you obviously are an english speaker then go with the KJV.

The Bible you read is the best version. Not the New World Translation though, that's Jehovah's Witness nonsense.
