Teaches that Jesus and the Father are one. But does this mean one person or a unity between persons?

Does 1Co 3:8 "Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour."
then mean that Paul and Apollos were one person?

Does Eph 5:31 "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh." mean that a husband and wife are one person?

See also Gen 11:6 "And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do."

For example
Joh 17:21 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." Indicates that the "oneness" of the disciples was to be just like that between Jesus and the Father.

Think of it this way...as just one parable God has revealed.

We do not call fire by what we see it as...feel it as...hear it as...and smell it as...

We call it fire.

Fire is not fire without light, heat, fuel, and sound.

I hope this helped.

Hold a mirror to the sun. The mirror says, "I am the sun" and it has spoken the truth. The mirror says, "the sun and I are one" and it has spoken the truth as the sun is seen in it. The mirror says, "the sun is greater than I" and it has spoken the truth again. The mirror says, "if you have seen me, you have seen the sun" and it speaks the truth yet again. The mirror says, "you cannot look at the sun directly as it will blind you, but you can look at me and see the sun!"

This unity is the same unity the Church is called to. It speaks of:

1) unity of desire

2) unity of will

3) unity of purpose.

The Church, and the churches often fall short of this unity; but the three distinct persons of the Godhead do NOT.

In other religions anybody may join and begin to practice the teachings of its prophets and leaders. In Christianity, however, there is but one entrance, and one path to admission. All must enter in through Christ. All must begin by being born again spiritually of the seed of Christ.

I Peter 1:23
For you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.

I John 3:9
No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

Spiritual life begins at conception (spiritual)(born of the will of the FATHER, not of the flesh or of man) even as does physical lifed(biological conception, when yahweh gifts live) . Apart from receiving spiritual life into their being, mankind cannot live as Christ lived. All attempts to imitate the life of Christ are vanity and striving after the wind. The life of Christ cannot be imitated. It can only be replicated. The seed of Christ’s life must take root in the heart of a man and begin to grow. It must continue to grow until the full image of Christ comes forth.

There is no other religion on earth that declares to mankind that they are incomplete and unable to attain to the desire of God apart from experiencing a spiritual birth. This spiritual birth is critical. Apart from being born again a man can neither see, nor enter into, the kingdom of God. Nor see nor understand union with the Messiah Yahshua and abiding in HIM. those outside cannot comprehend.

I agree with this, but will also add....

Hebrews tells us that Jesus is the EXPRESS ICON of the invisible Heavenly Father!
Not a CEMENT ICON of a VISIBLE God?

(just kidding with you) lol

I have given them the glory you gave me, that they may be one AS we are one. I in them and you in me, so that they may be brought to complete unity John 17:22&23

You are right as to your belief of what is meant by John 10:30

please allow me to be somewhat tangential here . .

Does 1Co 3:8 "Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour."
then mean that Paul and Apollos were one person?
is it really Paul & Apollos that plant and water?

You plant them, and they take root; they grow and produce fruit;
you are near in their mouth and far from their heart.

(Jeremiah 12:2)

whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never be thirsty again.
The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.

(John 4:14)

neither Paul nor Apollos are anything - but God who first planted both of them, and who watered them and gave them life.
faith comes by hearing, and hearing by speaking the word of God - but the word is from God, and was first spoken in the ears of the one that preaches. what wisdom or knowledge is not from Him?

so the planter and the waterer are One - the Lord in Paul, and in Apollos, and Apollos and Paul in the Lord.

:)

it is God who first called us, drawing us to call on Him. God who works in us to do His will - even His will which is to believe. so Paul also says, it is no longer Paul, but Christ that lives in Paul - also Apollos, and that is how they are one. outside of Christ we do not have unity. it is in Christ that we are one - just as we are made one with Him, we are with each other, and He is One Lord, One true living God.
