ok, so I have a ring with an Egyptian ankh on it. The issue is that I don't know what meaning the ankh has. Does it mean something bad or evil and should I take off the ring? thanks for any help.. :)

lol @ bugmeister.. :) thank you, JIA.. :)
You're welcome, court jester at your service. And I've not known anybody's finger to fall off, for a ring. There was this one Poirot episode, where they violated an Egyptian tomb, and this guy gets mystically bonked on the head or chokes on a biscuit before his time, then...

Have also heard the Lord is more interested in our hearts, than our bling.

Many early Egyptian artworks depict this sacred symbol being worn or held by gods and kings. Used as an amulet, the Ankh was believed to be able to grant the wearer long life and health. Ancient Egyptians even put ankhs in tombs to give energy to the resurrected spirit. It is said that the symbol can even carry on its power to anyone within a certain proximity to it. As such, it is believed to be a conduit for life or power that stems from the universe. The Ankh can also be used as a strong protection against evil, decay and degeneration.

Maybe this is like a rabbit's foot is to some people today. It sounds like a pagan thing nevertheless.

The ankh symbolizes eternal life. Not in the Christian sense, but in the pagan sense. It's just a symbol. We give power to symbols, but I still wouldn't wear one myself.

to the Egyptians it just means life and nothing more. if your wearing it to glorify Ra or Isis then maybe take it off. if your wearing it cause you love life, or you think it looks cool, then i see no harm in wearring it.

It means life. I'm not superstitious (until we start talking Eagle football), so it means nothing.

It is a symbol of the power of the Egyptian idols.

Others seeing it may understand it to be a form of idolatry.

If to you it is just a decoration then that is what it is; however it could potentially damage your witness.

ANYTHING connected to or with the occult, (books-jewelry-clothing-images etc.) -
for us, it's like 'old-food' in the refrigerator,
when in doubt, through it out!

blue_ladybug,

thank you for presenting to us all a true witness in desiring
to come into obedience of something you have been convicted of.
we all have to take the necessary 'baby-steps' in order to climb up
the mountain.

If you stretch your arms out and keep your feet together you bear the physical representation of the cross, right? The circle at the top of the Ankh is two fold in it's meaning. First it's the skull or head of that figure with arms outstretched in the cross pose. And also it represents the receptor , or what Hindu tradition called crown Chakra, wherein the soul entered the body at the top of the head.
The soul entered the head, traveled through the body so as to invigorate the flesh. The head being the seat of the gods.
And that representing eternal life through re-incarnation of the soul to the flesh via that method of point of entry.

It's the same idea that was later represented by Leonardo da Vinci and his creation of the Vitruvian man.

The ankh represents life. Same as the Christian cross
