Can anyone think of a scripture that says something about God looking at us face to face? I don't really know how describe what I'm asking. A scripture about God looking at us intently in adoration, looking at us closely in a personal way or giving us His full attention...if that makes sense.

closest I can think of...

Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.

Keith Green's Last Days Ministries sent me a pamphlet back in the 1980's that was called, "The Father Heart of God" by John Dawson. It was a wonderful message explaining how God the Father sees us individually. Perhaps it may help you:

Rv 22:1-5

And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads
.
5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

If, as Jesus said, our Father in heaven sees the littlest sparrow fall to the ground and even knows the number of hairs on our head, then I would think He really observes us.

Especially so as we worship and praise.

I believe He is intent upon me as I pray and converse with Him. It is beyond me that He could do this with the billions of us who are praying, but we have such a small frame of reference. His magnificence is beyond our understanding. After all, I'm His child. Who would not really know His own child?

Exodus 33:11 tells us of a close encounter of the Holy kind...smile.

The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. It says. And I think of God in Heaven going thru the predestination phase. As He gifted us and knew of our life ahead, creating us in His likeness; even the hairs of your head are all numbered, Luke 12:7 references. It doesn't get much more intimate than that if you ask me. God has the face to face connection also found in the meaning of the Abba Father, I am sure there are many more I have just not thought of at the moment...I am sure the Holy Spirit Himself is that personal face as well, so I hope this helps. And of coarse the Word, and prayer and.....and....

Psalm 33:13-22
13The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
14From the place of his habitation he looketh upon all the inhabitants of the earth.
15He fashioneth their hearts alike; he considereth all their works.
16There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
17An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
18Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
20Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield.
21For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name.
22Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

Jeremiah 31:3

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Psalm 25:6
Remember, O LORD, thy tender mercies and thy lovingkindnesses; for they have been ever of old.

John 15:12

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

JOHN 14:21.

He that has My Commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves Me,
and he that loves Me shall be loved of My Father, and I will love him,
and will manifest Myself to him.

1JOHN 2:5-6.
But whoso keeps His Word, in him verily is the Love of God perfected:
hereby know we that we are in Him.

He that says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk, even as He walked.

Possibly not the same thing but we are the apple of God's eye :)

Deuteronomy 32:10 NKJV
[10] "He found him in a desert land And in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him,
He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye.

Psalm 17:8 NKJV
[8] Keep me as the apple of Your eye; Hide me under the shadow of Your wings,

Zechariah 2:8-9 NKJV
[8] For thus says the LORD of hosts: "He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you;
for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye. [9] For surely I will shake My hand against
them, and they shall become spoil for their servants. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent Me.

There are verses in the Old Testament which are spoken concerning God's love for His people, Israel, which express something of this nature: and though those words are specifically spoken concerning His relationship with them, we can be sure that His thoughts towards us who are 'in' His Beloved Son, and who have the spirit of Sonship, through the all sufficient sacrifice He paid on our behalf, are just as wonderfully dear.

The closest scripture I can think of is the apple of His eye scripture but it begs me to question what that actually means. I know it's a good thing but apple of His eye, why apple? I don't really know the significance of that saying.

hi, breno, how are you and yours? :)

Marc can help us here with the idiom, but as far as i know the word rendered 'apple'
literally means 'pupil'...the pupil of the eye.

one commentator said it might refer either to the tenderest part of the eye,
or the mirror in which one sees a smaller version of oneself.

take it, those of you who are familiar with Hebrew idioms! :)

Hi that's my understanding of it also, that it is the bulgy, tenderest, reflective part of the eye.
One other point, a jab in the eye hurts so you tend to take special care of your eyes, even
unconsciously we blink if anything comes near the eye before it even touches it.

Apply that to God and how he regards us and the whole thing becomes WOW :)

'When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance,
when He separated the sons of Adam,
He set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
For the LORD'S portion is his people;
Jacob is the lot of His inheritance.
He found him in a desert land,
and in the waste howling wilderness;
He led him about,
He instructed him,
He kept him as the apple of His eye.
As an eagle stirreth up her nest,
fluttereth over her young,
spreadeth abroad her wings,
taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
So the LORD alone did lead him,
and there was no strange god with him.'

(Deu 32:8-12)

Hi there,

I agree. The pupil of the eye is precious, for without it there is no vision: - this is an indication of how precious God's chosen people are to Him, isn't it?

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus

This isn't what you're looking for but still, it's beautiful:

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established; what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?

Here's a beautiful chapter, brother! :)

PSALM 139

1. [For the choir director; a psalm by David.] O LORD, you have examined me, and you know me.

2. You alone know when I sit down and when I get up. You read my thoughts from far away.

3. You watch me when I travel and when I rest. You are familiar with all my ways.

4. Even before there is a [single] word on my tongue, you know all about it, LORD.

5. You are all around me-in front of me and in back of me. You lay your hand on me.

6. Such knowledge is beyond my grasp. It is so high I cannot reach it.

7. Where can I go [to get away] from your Spirit? Where can I run [to get away] from you?

8. If I go up to heaven, you are there. If I make my bed in hell, you are there.

9. If I climb upward on the rays of the morning sun [or] land on the most distant shore of the sea where the sun sets,

10. even there your hand would guide me and your right hand would hold on to me.

11.If I say, "Let the darkness hide me and let the light around me turn into night,"

12. even the darkness is not too dark for you. Night is as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same [to you].

13. You alone created my inner being. You knitted me together inside my mother.

14.I will give thanks to you because I have been so amazingly and miraculously made. Your works are miraculous, and my soul is fully aware of this.

15. My bones were not hidden from you when I was being made in secret, when I was being skillfully woven in an underground workshop.

16. Your eyes saw me when I was only a fetus. Every day [of my life] was recorded in your book before one of them had taken place.

17. How precious are your thoughts concerning me, O God! How vast in number they are!

18. If I try to count them, there would be more of them than there are grains of sand. When I wake up, I am still with you.

19. I wish that you would kill wicked people, O God, and that bloodthirsty people would leave me alone.

20. They say wicked things about you. Your enemies misuse your name.

21. Shouldn't I hate those who hate you, O LORD? Shouldn't I be disgusted with those who attack you?

22. I hate them with all my heart. They have become my enemies.

23. Examine me, O God, and know my mind. Test me, and know my thoughts.

24. See whether I am on an evil path. Then lead me on the everlasting path.
