Pastors and embezzlement. It's a raging out of control fire. Who would have seen all this coming?
Google it. The reason I paint with a broad brush is because the potential for this temptation of theft is very real. The hierarchy construct is laden with this temptation. One is to think youself more important than others. It's called arrogance. The other is the love of filthy lucre. This is covetiousness. Both of these is sin.
Exalt a man into that coveted position, which is totally contrary to scripture, your not doing him any favors.

Simple truths that the church is completely oblivious to. Im not even going to discuss all the pastors who are hooked on Internet porn because they have way to much time on their hands.
Embezzelment is what I'm bringing up. This has been one of the steadfast problems with the clerical system for hundreds of years.
Guess what folks? We don't need another revival that changes nothing. We need a reformation.

Can never happen in my church.
Our pastor has no access to church funds.
We have a church treasure that is elected by the congragation.
The treasure counts all offerings with a second member and gives a written report to each member each month with all funds received and spent.

Actually, my kind friend, my head will probably explode the day the church becomes concerned. What a novel thing that would be. Smile.

Hold on to your head. The church is, has always been, and will continue to be concerned that men such as the ones you write a very oblique thread about continue to give the rest of the church -- the vast majority of the church -- a black eye.

People can quite easily avoid being taken advantage of by shyster preachers who bless with one hand and steal from the till with the other. ALl they have to do is put the deacon/elder board in charge of church funds. That way pastors can't do anything like that. And what you utterly, completely, totally, and wrongly fail to understand is that 99.9999999% of all chruches are set up like that. There is no "raging out of control" embezzlement going on in churches.

By the way, I did Google it. I got 386,000 hits, but nearly all of them (I'm guestimating, 'cause I didn't read all of them, obviously) deal with a half-dozen cases. Out of how many churches, just in the U.S.? According to "Church Relevance", about 320,000. Care to do the calculations on that, to see how microscopic the numbers really are? Or would that ruin your day?

Yet when do you have time to spend with Jesus? Seems as though you are so busy trying to right the wrongs of others and report to us every Pastor that has made a mistake....let us know we don't need to pay tithe.....on and on....Blond just wonders when you have time to ever be positive and spend quality time with the Lord?

You do realize that until you correct all your errors that you really shouldn't try to point out everyone else's sins? That board in your own eye thing and the splinter in the Pastor's eye.

It must be exhausting being so negative all the time and trying to correct everyone around you....must be a joy at parties....

Please I just ask you to consider spending some quality time with the Lord and thinking positive thoughts for even a few minutes a day. It seems as though you have taken your eyes off of Jesus and placed them on things that are not for you to worry about.

Can you control all the sin going on in the world? What have you done to stop these pastors from stealing all this money? Can you stop it? My Blond guess is the only one you can even begin to try to control would be yourself and guess what???? Even that is an impossible task without the Holy Spirit in control of your life.

Please brother get your eyes back on the most positive force in existence which is our Lord Jesus Christ and let Him work out all the details and just worry about getting your own heart right with God and let God work on everyone else......just a thought....

Hey, I have literally just made a video about false preachers. [Hobby of mine to do clips of sermons / Scripture] Would anyone like me to upload it?

Oh come on, man! Why not talk about the porn? You brought it up. (no pun intended.)

Thank you for bringing this to my attention.I have never been in a church where a pastor had access to the funds in the treasury. What is the percentage of pastors that are hooked on internet porn vrs other occupations. What percentage of pastors embezzle funds? Please cite your source. I don't need a reformation as I have other priorities.

Thanks, bro, but I attended seminary and know all too well about false preachers. However more importantly, most of us here also know about the good preachers whose hearts are in line with God. It would be edifying for all of us to discuss them and the good works they are doing. We could use a breath of fresh air around here and learn from something wonderful and godly for a change.

Well as a Pastor myself I can say thing many times they get in trouble not because they took money but because of the law. There are many Pastors who have to juggle between bills for the church and the home, do not get a salary or do full time ministry. So to paint with a broad stroke means that most if not all pastors are stealing.

Another "I'm right and your wrong" message. Yeah, I get it. You're perfect. We're not. Why not do what Mohammed did and just create your own religion. Clearly you don't like the Christian one.

You're the one who thinks you're more important. You're the arrogant one. You're the one who thinks everyone else is wrong. Why not?

I've been saying Christians have to assume all others on here are Christian unless otherwise notified. I see your posts. They've notified me. You're a completely unique species unable to discern that there are real Christians out there (and in here) including pastors, so, yeah. You've notified me. You aren't Christian. Way too much hate for all Christians posing as an "I'm right and you're wrong" attitude. (The reformation came long ago, and there were real Christians before and after, and still Reformed Christians wandering the earth as well as not-so-reformed, but still Christians.)

Contentious isn't attractive. Broken records are worthy of the trash bin, not time on the turn table.

I won't go so far as to say he's not Christian, but he's definitely lacking the Fruit of the Spirit.

Other than that, I like your righteous indignation! :)

Internet porn for pastors is a big deal, sadly! When I took Pastoral Ministries, we did a whole unit on it, because it has become such a serious problem in the ministry. The way it was explained, is that pastors sit in their offices preparing sermons on their computers. They get pop up windows for porn, and take a peek. Next thing you know, they are hooked.

There are whole websites dedicated to helping pastors get free, and also most of the major evangelical denominations have departments for accountability and counseling. I was a bit shocked to learn this, and apparently the stats are quite high. I don't have the figures available, those boxes have not yet been unpacked! (Porn has never been a problem for me, although one of my classmates was addicted, although married with children. He had to do accountability the whole time at Seminary and he is in an associate pastor position today)

As for church funds, I've never been in a church where the pastor handled the money. It doesn't make any sense, with all the other work, such as sermon and lesson preparation, visitation, funerals, weddings, etc etc.

The only ones I know that have their hands in da' money are TV preachers.....

If you're gonna judge all of them, you ought to go to a few of their churches first.

The epidemic of porn in ministry has a new twist. WOMEN. Yeah I said WOMEN. We are seeing more and more women in the church also addicted to porn.
