Thinking of that great old song this morning, and got to thinking about “hope. ”Knowing that we have hope of eternal life through the promise of God. Recorded in Jeremiah, is this statement from God:
11) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
This hope of eternal life is through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and our relationship with Him. Some Scriptures concerning our “hope.”
Titus 1:1) Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God's elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness; 2) In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
1 Peter 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4) To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5) Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
The Book of Romans has several passages of Scripture concerning “hope.” A couple of my favorite are:
8:24) For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? 25) But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
15:13) Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
And, finally, let us not forget that:
Hebrews 11:1) Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
God bless
Whispering Hope…………….
Soft as the voice of an angel,
Breathing a lesson unheard,
Hope with a gentle persuasion
Whispers her comforting word:
Wait till the darkness is over,
Wait till the tempest is done,
Hope for the sunshine tomorrow,
After the shower is gone.
Refrain
Whispering hope, oh how welcome thy voice,
Making my heart in its sorrow rejoice.
