All this week on the television speaking about the Duggar family deception. Why were Christians deceived by this family if Christians always quoting 1 John 4:1

Holman Christian Standard Bible
Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to determine if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Maybe many Christians are watching to much worldly television which does not edify the Body of Christ or Christians have become worldly in their views of the faith. Many Christians are fooled by a person outward appearance, but why when the Word of God speaks of deception of appearances.

1 Samuel 16:7English Standard Version (ESV)

7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”

Proverbs 31:30English Standard Version (ESV)

30 Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain,
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.

Luke 7:25English Standard Version (ESV)

25 What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Behold, those who are dressed in splendid clothing and live in luxury are in kings' courts.

2 Corinthians 4:18English Standard Version (ESV)

18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

'Worldly Christians' are 'damaging the faith'

An online survey has indicated that about a quarter of Christians are 'not very Christian' in how they live their daily lives.
The Christianity Quiz, which was created by the nonprofit Changing the Face of Christianity, includes 10 multiple-choice questions that assess how anonymous participants live their faith.

In data taken from January 2011 to October 2012, which included 8,475 responses, the Quiz found that 71.6 per cent of respondents were either "Good Christians" or "Spiritually Mature Christians". By contrast, 24.8 per cent of respondents were identified as "Worldly Christians" and 3.6 per cent were identified as "Far from Christ".
Changing the Face of Christianity defined a "Worldly Christian" as someone who lives much like their non-Christian peers and deals with challenges with little regard to what Christianity teaches.
R Brad White, founder of Changing the Face of Christianity, told The Christian Post that he was unsurprised by the results.
"We've run this study for close to two years now and we've checked in on the results several times. This latest update is our first cumulative look at the 22 months of data," said White.
"These 'worldly Christians' or people we categorise as 'far from Christ' are doing incredible damage to our faith. They are a stumbling block to people who are considering Christianity."
Questions asked on the quiz include asking the respondent how often they read the Bible and what they would do in certain real-life circumstances like someone cutting them off on the highway.
"For those that don't score very well, we hope it convicts them with a desire to study the Bible and pursue a more loving relationship with God and others," said White.
White told CP that he felt these findings should prompt churches and congregations to "wake up and take this seriously".
"Churches should be about helping followers to become spiritually mature disciples of Jesus Christ. But, I would also say that the responsibility isn't just with churches, pastors and church leaders," said White.
"The responsibility lies with individual Christians within the fellowship of a supportive church community. How many people accept Jesus Christ as their saviour but have absolutely no initiative and no plan on how to truly become a living disciple of Jesus Christ in their daily life?"

Aww..thanks. I'm actually a big ball of biting sarcastic humor that sometimes gets carried away and then feels bad about it...but I love Jesus. It was just the culture I grew up in. If you said or did something stupid you paid for it...forever. ...in fact...I'm still paying for things. lol

Well Dayo - or whoever - Most of us Christians do not expect people to be perfectly sinless throughout their life. We only look at ourselves and shut our mouths.

We only know that we stand righteous in the eyes of the Father because of the cleansing of the blood of Jesus Christ.

What you are describing is the falling away from the faith that was prophesied to come, and the Harlot Church seen in the Revelation, which is in bed with the ways of the world.

Now Christians are getting their family values from a television show that is produced by hollyweird that is full of darkness. I thought the Word of God was our instructions and teachings about family values. I do not watched the show that is not my cup of tea because the American Apple Pie has been rotten for long time from the core. If the information is true then what are folks going to say? How do Christians teach their children about deception by appearance what is true or false? So, if the last days are abound us that means many Christians cannot discern false light from true light. Who is Lucifer? That means Christians must forgive the young man of the Boston Marathon because a sin is a sin. So how many folks feel that young man should be forgiven? As Christians we cannot pick and chose who to forgive because if I forgive one person of his sin then I must forgive the other. I must forgive the Catholic Priests of their crimes of molestation. What about families who struggle everyday to support their large families, teach righteousness, and assist others in the community. Do we admire, respect, and support them as folks support the Duggar family? What about the drug dealer, drug addict, drunkard, whore monger, murdered, and their sins must be forgiven also. So if that young man of the Boston Marathon repent from his sins and accept Jesus Christ in his heart. Will Christians forgive him?

It's hard to say if many here understand something. The Holy Spirit works in the lives of the truly saved. How often is the Holy Spirit even mentioned, in the bicker fests that go on here? If somebody is Christian and is getting their values from a TV tube and being led astray, there's a fundamental problem, then, of somebody who isn't seeking God. This is a question of actually being saved. Why are we all worried about what somebody is watching on TV? If somebody is living for the world, the flesh and the devil, the issue is getting that person saved. Directing somebody to get Levitical rules from the Bible or play church is no more of living faith than the dead legalists, posting on ChristianChat, who believe faith is some checklist, rooted in self righteousness.

I don't get this "Christian" notion a person is saved, but, then, look out below, network TV is going to snatch their salvation, between commercials, or by commercials, and better not spit on the sidewalk. In my experience, the Holy Spirit sets the true believer straight, one way or another. Spiritual eyes see what's from hell and what is wrong, the question whether one wants to listen to God or not, in the latter case, trouble is on the way. You will learn to listen or will leave this mortal sphere, but anybody who believes people are at the mercy of having the wool pulled over their Holy Spirit eyes by some soap opera haven't understood much of the gospel, starting with belief in the power of and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.

How many here simply ignore or discount the power of God and the Holy Spirit in a believer's life, all these dead conversations over letter of the law? True Christians, who are slaves to sin and blindness? Slaves to legal bondage? I see a lot of repetitious, false gospels around here, with NO life, no understanding of scripture or acknowledgement of the power of God, by the Holy Spirit, which has saved and sanctified the true believer.

If you're fretting what's on TV is going to snatch your soul, then don't get TV Guide: get Christ, first. Problem solved.

2 Timothy 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Babe, I didn't even know who the Duggars were and what happened until I caught a story on the news the other night, so, seriously? Who's getting all her family values from TV? You're the one promoting a false gospel attained from some TV evangelist I also don't watch or could name. Maybe your rocks are pointed the wrong way. Try above your head and let gravity do its thing.
