Is God's grace limited or can we keep repenting? Can.God forgive the same sin 100 times after knowing the truth and it's a sin?

Notice that Jesus is not on record between his birth and death as speaking about grace. That's very significant.

Grace is very limited as to receives grace. Jesus was full of grace all his life, yet never taught about it.

John 1:16-17 (KJV)
[SUP]16 [/SUP] And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

All who are "in Christ" have the fulness of God's grace, while there are many conditions that determine whether a person is in him, or not, primarily requiring faith as Jesus taught. God has given grace before Jesus was born, before the law of Moses, such as toward Noah (his immediate family directly benefiting) to the exclusion of the rest of the world's population. That demonstrates that God limits who receives grace.

The gospel Jesus taught, and his disciples taught, requires repentance, followed by belief in Jesus and his gospel message, and following him all your days. While following, one walks in total grace of God, which assures many benefits. The benefits are all of the gospel, spanning from our simple need of a meal to eternal life, and all in between.

To repent is to forsake any sin that you become aware of through reading the word of God, by preaching gospel truth, or by conviction of the Spirit. Retaining habitual sin violates the gospel, subject to eternal death. God knows when a person goes too far, but sinners eventually realize their rebellion too. Neither God nor sinner will be surprised as to one's eternal condition at death. Each of us that have been made aware knows day to day where we stand with the Lord.

Thank you for your detailed answer. My reply to that would be Jesus taught to forgive not 7 but 77 times so wouldn't that alone contradict that God's grace is limited. Habitual sins such as addiction or fornication aren't so simple to give up and require alot of self control which I believe grows as the Holy Spirit grows inside you. I hate sinning and the thought of myself or anyone spending eternity in torment but sometimes it's hard not to just live in the minute in our human weakness and thats something I struggle with as I have a son myself and I could never send him to be tormented for anything he would or could ever do.to me, its hard to think of a God of love, mercy and forgiveness is the same God who sends people to the place of weeping and gnashing of teeth. I already know that God is Holy and you can't enter his presence without been washed clean in his sight through the blood of Christ but and therefore sinners can't enter heaven but I don't understand why sinners suffer forever the same way as the devil and his demons who epitomise evil.

It depends. Apologize 100 times, than no. But, then again if we think apologizing is repenting we're either young in the Lord or not in the Lord. Repent means turn from. Turn from sin 180 degrees, which brings us face-to-face with God.

Do we turn back? Well, yeah, at least if we're honest. Some sins are habit. Some are the only way we learned how to deal with a particular situation, so, without thinking, we go right back to it because it's easy. Forget God for a minute and we go back.

Jesus said seven times seventy in one day. Why would he say that, if he had no intention of doing the same thing for us?

We repent. And sometimes that means it takes a while to learn God's way instead of our way. If we never repent, then we weren't forgiven anyway.

As for God's grace, he does say he graces all, not merely Christians. There is no earth without God's constant grace.

7 times 70 is greater than 100 :)
I mean if God expects us to forgive 7x70 how much more is His?

unending? Hmm, now that can open up a philosophical can-undrum full of worms. ...in short, Yes.

yay! no more math problems! :D
Math isn't so bad, it's like a puzzle, although to some it's like a jigsaw puzzle or even a Rubik cube so I understand where you're coming from.

Math used to be my specialty til I met the Eternal Word.

tbh, i'd rather read some of these posts, touting captious, otiose philosophies
in the most vituperative manner than do math... ;)

Matthew 18:21-22 (KJV)
21 Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

I think that is quite clear especially in the light of how much the Lord has forgiven us.

I think you may be approaching it wrong.

John the Baptizer said: "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin (singular) of the world.

As I understand it, this means Jesus died to forgive the entire body of sin of all people in all time.

the ONLY thing which now separates unbelievers from God is failure to accept the Lordship (ownership) of Jesus because of His payment of their sin debt.

When we acknowledge Jesus as Lord, we accept His payment of the penalty for our sin as our purchase price.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ,he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation,
namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. (2 Cor 5:17-19)

not a reason to let sin abound, may God forbid it.
His grace also enables us to resist it. :)

The bible states the following.....

Where sin abounds, grace did much more abound.......the statement is clear....the Grace of God outruns our sin and deals with our sin in and through Christ......
