For example, is it sinful to enjoy a delicious lunch without giving God the glory for the lunch's taste? Thanks

In dealing with frivolous things/subjects try using a bit of common sense...it works! Psalm 32v8,9

Don't walk around being sin conscious that's fear.. 1 john 4v18 says perfect love drives out fear. Let go and enjoy God, If we sat and gave thanks for everything we would never do anything else. Bless u sister xxx

Big difference between "Joy," and "enjoying" something. So the title of the OP misled me a bit.

I'm sure (based on your example) that pagans/unbelievers experience "physical" pleasure in their lives, but "Joy" as in the joy one receives from Christ is a spiritual peace that can only be experienced through Him.

The "state" one decides to live their lives is where "sin" or "salvation" come into the picture, not temporary moments of physical realizations.

I'm sure I don't thank God for each and every thing that is good in my life, every single time I enjoy it, but I do give Him thanks often. I know it is only because of Him I can have what I do and enjoy anything. We are all busy and can move on to the next thing before we remember to give thanks. I would say the sin would be to never acknowledge God and thank Him.

It is not sinful but it is contrary to what is instructed by His Holy Spirit who spoke through His anointed and chosen apostles and disciples throughout the NT scriptures. See brother Paul's instructions to the Gentiles given by His Holy Spirit.......

Ephesians 5:20
giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

1 Corinthians 10:31

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

1 Timothy 4:4
For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,

I wouldn't get too hung up on the small things. When people start doing that, it tends to lead to legalism.
