I heard an interesting conversation today which excited me to study the Book of Revelation chapter nine.

Revelation 9 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Fifth Trumpet

9 The fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to earth. The key to the shaft of the abyss was given to him. 2 He opened the shaft of the abyss, and smoke came up out of the shaft like smoke from a great[a] furnace so that the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the shaft. 3 Then locusts came out of the smoke on to the earth, and power[b] was given to them like the power that scorpions have on the earth.4 They were told not to harm the grass of the earth, or any green plant, or any tree, but only people who do not have God’s seal on their foreheads. 5 They were not permitted to kill them but were to torment them for five months; their torment is like the torment caused by a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 In those days people will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, but death will flee from them.
7 The appearance of the locusts was like horses equipped for battle. Something like gold crowns was on their heads; their faces were like men’s faces; 8 they had hair like women’s hair; their teeth were like lions’ teeth; 9 they had chests like iron breastplates; the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots with many horses rushing into battle; 10 and they had tails with stingers like scorpions, so that with their tails they had the power[c] to harm people for five months. 11 They had as their king[d] the angel of the abyss; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon,[e] and in Greek he has the name Apollyon.[f] 12 The first woe has passed. There are still two more woes to come after this.

This describe a demonic army from the pits of hell who king is satan whose mission is destruction and to torment those who are unsealed on their foreheads. This is very interesting to me because in the Book of Deuteronomy the mark of the forehead is mention many times and in the Book of Exodus. The NT always support the OT because it is One Book of God. If a person does not read the OT how can that person understand the NT!?!

Exodus 13 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

9 Let it serve as asign for you on your hand and as a reminder on your forehead,[c] so that the Lord’s instruction may be in your mouth; for the Lord brought you out of Egypt with a strong hand.

16 So let it be a sign on your hand and a symbol[d] on your forehead, for the Lord brought us out of Egypt by the strength of His hand.”

Exodus 28 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Turban

36 “You are to make a pure gold medallion and engrave it, like the engraving of a seal:
HOLY TO THE LORD.

37 Fasten it to a cord of blue yarn so it can be placed on the turban; the medallion is to be on the front of the turban. 38 It will be on Aaron’s forehead so that Aaron may bear the guilt connected with the holy offerings that the Israelites consecrate as all their holy gifts. It is always to be on his forehead, so that they may find acceptance with the Lord.

Deuteronomy 6 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

The Greatest Command

7 Repeat them to your children. Talk about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Bind them as a sign on your hand and let them be a symbol[b] on your forehead.[c]

Deuteronomy 11 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Remember and Obey

18 “Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds,
bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol[f] on your foreheads.

So that mark on the forehead is important folks! What are those instructions folks that we must teach our children? What is God's seal on the forehead?

Symbol of a locust:

Folks there is a deeper meaning to the Book of Revelation because it is not literal.

Listen this is important:

11 And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.

This is why knowing past history of religion is important! I have read this name before in a different literature and it is very interesting.

God's seal is the Holy Spirit, by His Spirit He writes His words upon our hearts and minds....

2 Corinthians 1:22Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

Ephesians 1:13
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 4:30
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

The locust army is the army of the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit, they symbolize the "many deceivers" and false prophets which were gone out into the world as prophesied. The Lamb has His army which is sealed by the Spirit of Truth, the Beast has His army which have the spirit of a lie to deceive the nations.

Do you see any similarities with Ezekiel 9:4 back there?

I've read your post and I'm none-the-wiser as to what you're trying to say. I understand everything up to the picture of the medallion (what's that even from? Some explanation would be good). Also, I think you left out something before your concluding sentences. Or maybe I'm just not on the same wave-length.

We see in this the plague of locusts is spiritual, because no grass, or any green thing, or any tree was to be harmed, only men.

And again this seal of God is the seal of God’s Word written in the hearts and minds by the Lord’s Holy Spirit. In Hebrews 10:16 it is written, “This is the covenant I will make with them in those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them.” Also notice in verse 3 this swarm of locusts was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.

In Deuteronomy 8:15 the Lord gave us a sign of things to come by the wandering of the children of Israel in the wilderness. This is where they encountered fiery serpents, scorpions and drought. In Ezekiel 2:6 the Lord told Ezekiel not to be afraid of the words of the people and the false prophets of the time by saying; “And thou son of man be not afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions.”

In Luke 10:19 Jesus empowered his disciples by saying, “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing by any means shall hurt you.” In Matthew 23:33 we see who the Lord is talking about when he refers to the false teachers of the time as serpents, and generation of vipers that shall not escape the damnation of hell.

In Matthew 23:15 Jesus told the scribes and Pharisees of the time they were hypocrites, “For you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him two fold more the
child of hell than yourselves.” This is why we see these locusts coming out of hell like a dark cloud ready to devour the minds of the weak.

In Revelation 9:7 we see these locusts had on their heads crowns of like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. In Nahum 3:17 the Lord speaks out against the vile and bloody city of Nineveh, which was full of lies and robbery. The Lord says, “Thy crowned are as locusts, and thy captains as grasshoppers.” In Revelation 9:7 the Lord said these locusts were like horses prepared for battle, this also is seen in Nahum 3:3 when the Lord described the bloody city.

Also in Nahum 3:13 the Lord said the people in the midst of them were women, just as the description in Revelation 9:8 tells us they had hair as the hair of women. The hair symbolizes the strength of the head, as was shown in the story of Samson. But this strength signifies understanding in, or lack thereof.

In Ecclesiastes the Preacher said he sought out for those who had wisdom and understanding, and in Ecclesiastes 7:28 he said “Which yet my soul seeketh, but I find not: one man among a thousand have I found; but a woman among all those have I not found.” So that is what the Lord is symbolizing there with the hair like women.

So the Lord is showing these swarms of locusts that come out of the pit lack understanding in His words, and are also false prophets and teachers. Some are even world leaders in government and business that devour the minds of those who are weak and not sealed by God’s Spirit. In Revelation 9:9 we are told they had breastplates of iron, showing how hardhearted and ruthless this swarm would be.

They are like a mighty army running to battle like the sound of chariots and horses in multitude. We are told in verse 10 these locusts that are like scorpions had stings in their tails, for their power was in their tails. This mystery is shown here in
Isaiah 9:15 “The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.” So by their lies (tails) they do the harm.

Thats how I am catching some of the connections, the words of scorpions

Thou
dost dwell among scorpions be not afraid of their words

Even as James says

T
he tongue is full of deadly poison

O generation of vipers, how can ye being evil, speak good things?

Their throat is an open sepulchre with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips

Which always reminded me of this too

They shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them

Revelation is symbolic. What the symbols represent has not been revealed. Despite the attempts of many authors, especially in the last 30-40 years to figure out what they mean.

You have a very familiar style of posting. Just saying.

Oh yeah, God has His seal (mark) in the forehead (heart/mind) and the Beast has His "mark" in the forehead (spirit in heart/mind) of those that belong to his body.

The "little horn" is the tail (spirit of a lie) of the Red Dragon, the power of his army (many deceivers) is in their "tails"

Notice the "little horn" on the tail of the scorpion

Revelation 12:4
And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.

The Serpent, the Devil, the Dragon drew away a third part of the angels with his "lies" (tail) That is also the spirit of antichrist "little horn" that was prophesied to come, and did come as written....his name is also called "it" :)

Why would God commanded them to not hurt the grass, green things and trees if it were not possible for them to hurt the grass, green things or trees? Two verses in context that state that Revelation is not to be taken literal unless context dictates otherwise!

This was another thing I was looking at before.

Ever notice when the locusts come and darkened the land (even as wrath darkens a land)and nothing remains of the field Pharoah refers to it as "this death"?

Exodus 10:17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.

So then Moses intreated the LORD.

Exodus 10:19 And the LORD turned a mighty strong west wind, which took away the locusts, and cast them into the Red sea; there remained not one locust in all the coasts of Egypt.

The wrath of a king is comparable to whats called "messengers of death"

Prov 16:14 The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

As wrath darkens the land, (Isaiah 9:19) even as the locusts are shown darkening the land

Made me think of the "sting of" death is sin" and speaks of messengers of death Pharaoh says...

Exodus 10:17 Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from methis death only.

He is referring to the locusts there,

But the next two here just seem similar in their speaking, for example Jesus says to them

Luke 10:19 (( Behold )) I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

And even as the winds and waves obey him, it is commanded "these" in Revelation likewise, in respects to who exactly they can hurt

Rev 9:4 And it was commanded ((((them))) that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

And just as he already said

Nothing shall by any means hurt you.

And in the other...

But only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

In respects to him, it speaks setting to his seal that God is true, even it as speaks of having the mind of Christ, the seal (of the Fathers name) in their foreheads (even as being sealed by the Holy Spirit). Thus having "this seal" the Lord knoweth them that are His, even as His Spirit beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God. Having this witness within themselves, which is the testimony Christ confirmed in you.

Its just that one part I was looking at you can sort of catch the hurt thing and the power over and what is allowed and what is not in the same. My notes are so scatter brained ridiculous this is probably one of the few that is a readable. But I find these tpye of discussions interesting but would rather those by PM's then open because folks are sensitive about these things

Because that's what locusts do naturally, so that should tell you by what the Lord said these are not natural locusts, but hold a deeper spiritual meaning. But it's the Holy Spirit who showed me these things found in the symbolisms, not any man.

1 Corinthians 2:13
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

This is unclear to me I will have to pass on this one Bro, cant say I can agree with things I cannot see clearly concerning.

Not saying that I am right or you are wrong or visa versa Im just not seeing a few things.

No, actually it tells me that they have the ability to hurt the grass, green things and trees, but are COMMANDED not to!

And by the way...the Corinthian quote is the word of God and spiritual....the words above the Corinthian quote are not the words of God but your opinion......

Luke 23:31 For if they do these thingsin a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
i think jesus says clearly here, if they do these things "in a green tree" i.e. while jesus is still here (and maybe while israel is with all of those who did keep honoring TORAH),

what shall be done "in the dry" >> like today, where Jesus is not a part of people's lives(except a few),
and there is as it is written "A FAMINE of the HEARING OF THE WORD of GOD".....

>> the whole world is 'dry' and void of honoring GOD, and is so full of wickedness there will soon be room for no more wickedness (just as it was in the time of NOAH)....
