So this kind of relates to my Holy Spirit thread. When I went to church I took these sermon notes:

Broken: night light (sermon series)
-->"nobody should lift that alone"
-->God did not intend for us to be alone in sufferings
-->Romans 8:26-27
-->v.26: In the same way the Lord helps us in our weakness
-->helps
-->comes alongside in order for him to take hold of the burden we are carrying
-->application
-->v.26: we do not know what we ought to pray for...
-->Holy Spirit helps us pray
-->need to pray
-->v.26: but the spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express
-->Holy Spirit prays from within us
-->helps us to express emotions
-->depth of agony and sorrow too rich for words
-->prayer that...
expresses
-->do not bottle emotions with God
-->connects to the deepest part of our soul
-->v.27
-->God is one that searches the heart
-->A God who cares
-->He knows the mind of the spirit
-->desire to know fully realized because he knows the spirit
Prayer that...
connects

You: I'm hurt
God: I feel it too

-->V.27: the spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance to Gods will
Prayer that...
Transforms

Hardship is a beautiful opportunity to enter into spirit empowered prayer

So what do you think about this? What do you think about prayer? How do you pray?

I pray about like I talk, 'cause that is what I'm doing.

For me tongues is very odd. It does not work to my mind, but it expresses the Holy Spirits heart to the Father through me.
Jackie Pullenger in Hong Kong was witnessing to young drug addicts from the triads. Many could not read well and had problems gaining an acedemic appreciation of the Lord. But she could teach them to spend time with the Lord praying in tongues.

I have often wondered is prayer putting together words or just sharing with the Lord your concern about a situation, and discussing the problems and asking for help, guidance, expression of love and faith etc over the situation.

Without the Holy Spirit we would run dry very quickly, it is almost like the Lord is praying to himself through us, or we are just sharing a common desire for blessing.

In todays world with illness such a conquered issue, but continual long term disabilities and issues all around, just praying for the Lord to heal or cure these, is absurd, and though many do pray, the Lord does not change his intent or intervention very often.

We had one man, very blessed in the Lord, with a good international ministry, who had cancer over a two year period, who finally succumbed, with a brain tumor. Now people fervently prayed for healing, which did not come. For me I wanted this man to be healed, but more to find peace, with the Lords intentions. Part of me want everyone to be healed and all the problems of the world resolved, but that is clearly not reality or the Lords way today though in eternity He will. So most of the time I am silent in public, because it is hard to distinguish what we ourselves desire and what the Lord will use in the situation to His glory.

So prayer is often a place of tears, disappointment, honesty and suffering, but also of praise and worship.
For me prayer is my walk with the Lord, my communion and my soul, so you could speak forever and never stop.

How you live every moment is also a prayer - it is all unto the Lord or not.

Prayer is a lot of listening to that quiet inner voice for His words.

Just thinking about the Lord's presence with you is a prayer.

Standing still before Him is a prayer.

Yelling out your emotions is a prayer.

Praying with your mind and intelligence is a prayer.

Praying only with the sounds that arise from the deepest part of you is a prayer.

I personally like to draw my prayers - put them in artform

Amen.

Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah. Psalm 62: 8

don't bottle it in...either God cares or He doesn't

1) can a person get tired of prayer or from praying?

2) what do you do when that happens?

sure they can

whatever they should do, they should not rush ahead of God...that just creates a hydra out of the original 'problem'

sadly speaking from experience

it's called 'waiting on God' and it can be trying...but, either we believe or not..no I'm not being sarcastic...I'm the kind of person who wants to lead the charge...haha...
