And I title this thread "Conversations WITH God" because that is what our prayers are suppose to be. Not talking TO God, but WITH God. A one sided conversation is not worth much in my opinion. If we bring our petitions/concerns/desires to God in prayer, of what value is it when we do not LISTEN TO Him?

I can not remember the name of the Pastor/Author who said "Prayer binds the hands of the devil and releases the power of God," but it is a great statement about prayer. Prayer involves many things:

1) Belief in God/Jesus Christ
2) Faith in God/Jesus Christ
3) Love for God/Jesus Christ
4) Trust in God/Jesus Christ
5) Thanksgivings
6) Sorrows
7) Needs and/or desires

........are but a few. Prayer is a critical part of a believers life. I believe that prayer is the believers avenue to the Throne of God, and the avenue through which God can communicate with His children. There are numerous Scriptures concerning prayer in the Bible, and I would like to share a few here today.

1 Chronicles 16:10) Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. 11) Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.

Psalms 4:1) Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

Psalms 145:18) The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. 19) He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

Matthew 7:11) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Luke 6:12) And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

Luke 18:1) And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;

Philippians 4:6) Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Colossians 4:2) Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving

1 Thessalonians 5:17) Pray without ceasing.

1 Timothy 2:8) I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.

James 4:3) Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

James 5:13) Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. 14) Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
15) And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. 16) Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Prayer is such a powerful thing!

Hello p_rehbein,

* This is the form of prayer I value most - Rom 8:26,27;1 Cor 2:9-11 :-

'Likewise the Spirit
also helpeth our infirmities:
for we know not
what we should pray for
as we ought:
but the Spirit itself
maketh intercession for us
with groanings
which cannot be uttered.
And He
that searcheth the hearts
knoweth
what is the mind of the Spirit,
because He
maketh intercession
for the saints
according to
the will of God.'

'But as it is written,
'Eye hath not seen,
nor ear heard,
neither have entered
into the heart of man,
the things
which God hath prepared
for them that love Him.

But God
hath revealed them unto us
by His Spirit:
for the Spirit searcheth all things,
yea, the deep things of God.

For what man
knoweth the things of a man,
save the spirit of man
which is in him?
even so the things of God
knoweth no man,
but the Spirit of God.

But God hath revealed them
unto us
by His Spirit:
for the Spirit
searcheth all things,
yea, the deep things
of God
For what man knoweth
the things of a man,
save the spirit of man
which is in him?
even so the things of God
knoweth no man,
but the Spirit of God.'

Praise God!
For His provision for us.

Cont: ...

' ... It is Christ that died,
yea rather,
that is risen again,
Who is even at the right hand of God,
Who also maketh intercession for us.'
(Rom 8:33,34)

For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous,
and His ears are open unto their prayers
: ... .'

(1 Peters 3:12a)

God: the Holy Spirit, intercedes for us.
God: the Son, intercedes for us.
God: the Father, listens and hears.

Praise God!

In Christ Jesus
Chris

Great and relevant thread, though I'd say it'd be difficult for people to sit and listen to God when they believe/taught that God doesn't speak anymore :(

Dear Dad

Thank You so much for the blessings You provide daily and a special thanks and praise for saving us from electrical disaster at the end of May sparing us and our 5 connected neighbors from fire that was started out at our meter box from a storm causing an electrical shortage. Thank You that the Association is picking up the cost as this is truly a blessing from You.

Please continue to work in our lives and open our hearts and ears to hear Your voice when You speak to us. Help me Father to trust and obey when You prompt me to do so I want to hear You I need You to live in my heart I pray in Jesus Name Amen.

A few weeks ago I woke up about 3:00 AM and was really sick. I sat up and prayed. I talked with Him, telling Him that into His hands I commit my spirit. Its amazing how much better I felt knowing He was with me. The illness ran its course but I was at peace. That's what its like talking with God.
