Good question, and I believe you will get mixed responses. Do you have any particular Scripture in mind to support your view? Just wondering, as you asked others to do so if possible.

Me personally, I would not work in a Casino, but I am not going to condemn those who disagree with me. That's between them and God..........not them and me.

I went to a casino once and one of the card dealers openly shared Scripture with folks. Pretty awesome!

I want to meet the guy who is able to convince the Casino Manager that it is "more blessed to GIVE than to RECEIVE."

Now...........I MIGHT.........might go to a Casino with him.

I spent almost 50 years working in supermarkts. Most of them sold wine, beer, and some sold the hard stuf.
From time to time I would be condemed for working in such an evil place.
This would come from people who were shopping there and buyings their smokes.

No.....is it a sin to work in a grocery store, Walmart, a gas station because they sell alcohol?

Is it a sin to work in a book store that sells porno mags or books like 50 shades of Gray?

Is it a sin to work in a movie theater that plays nc-17 movies?

In the world, but not of the world states it all!

Yea. One Sunday when I had to work, a couple came in after church to shop. They began condeming all who were not in church that morning. They asked me why I was not in church and I told them I was not ALLOWED to go to church that Sunday. They asked who was so evil as to not allow me to go to church? I said YOU are the guilty ones.
I would no have to work on Sunday if you did not shop on Sunday.

Can you believe they got angry with me?

How many jobs aren't "earning profits from others' sins?"

I cleaned houses for a living at one time. On of my customers didn't need his house cleaned that much because he was good at cleaning it himself. But then again, that's why he hired me. In reality, he had a small house and three young children so he hired someone in hope she would marry him so he didn't have to pay extra to get his house cleaned. (Oooo, baby! Be still my heart. What a wonderful marriage proposal while I'm vacuuming under that end table. lol)

Half my telemarketing jobs were selling legitimate products, but to whom and for what purpose? Sure, I was selling IT journals, but who was buying them? Someone who was the IT manager for a casino? How about the mobs IT guy? (I bet mobs have IT guys now. Someone has to find an easy way to count the illegal money.) And why was the owner of the company selling them? To get rich to afford a lifestyle he was long used to before I came along.

And then there was the guy I sold TV Guides for where the script said they'd give a portion to help people with MS, but he never would even tell us which portion.

And even the light and electrical outlet factory where I was the bookkeeper. Sure, they're selling the outlet boxes to conventions and stadiums being built. (If you ever go to a convention center or stadium anywhere in the US, look down at those large outlet boxes in the ground. Chances are they were made where I used to work.) But, hey, guess what? Our local convention centers have conventions, fairs, and shows where they have things like "LGBT Night." Tell me political parties are all being honest when they go to convention. It seems it's not even possible to keep the Secret Service honest in the last decade. I'm not against rock music or the blues, but tell me all those concerts are moral and I'll sell you some land directly east of Atlantic City.

Funny though, you're worried about people gambling at casinos. The last apostle was chosen by lots. That IS gambling. Apparently not so illegal in the Bible. Then again, who runs that casino? In Vegas, the mob does. In Atlantic City, the mob doesn't run the casinos. They run the worker's unions instead. lol

So, tell me. Exactly what jobs are there that aren't, some how, some way connected to sin? If the jobs aren't, what's the likelihood your purpose in working there isn't entirely sinless?

Don't take a job unless you know it's okay with God. And don't judge others for their jobs, because, hey, you don't know if God told them it's okay or not.

GOD looks at the heart.A person might need a job to feed their family and maybe while they are there a door might open for them to be a witness for GOD but every person that has this hope in them purifies themselves.

I had a friend who went to our house group who worked in a casino.
They were very professional and deemed the industry as entertainment, ie you are being entertained with the hope of getting something back with various games, while knowing it is just a way of getting an adrenaline rush.

The counter argument is gambling is actually a way of exploiting the desperate with an easy way out, while actually giving nothing in return. We had a person who had an addictive personality, and got hooked on the internet games being offered. In the end he lost his job, family, house because of the rush.

What suprised me is the most addictive part and profitable parts are the slot machines. They as so addictive, in the UK they limited the number of machines allowed, and there has been a debate to limit the amount you can put in in one go because so much is lost through them.

So the industry is exploitative and it is getting worse. Any christian walking into this environment needs to know this is sheep among real wolves, who certainly used to be the mob. So unless it is your calling, I doubt there is any real justification.

Which is why we don't go shopping on Sundays or holidays.

But, honestly? We got a flat tire on the way up to Dad's once. It was New Years Day and I am still so very thankful Walmart (with a tire center) was opened. Goodrich and Goodyear weren't.

Ha ha! Rather than being humble and apologizing for the error of their ways, they became angry because you hit them with the hard truth that THEIR actions forced you into missing worship.

Excellent story, Score!

Every person that has been reborn will seek to purify themselves so what I am saying is if he had been there for only a little while and he was giving out scriptures I would hope GOD would be using him to bring conviction to someone there but if he had been there for years I would think he was legalistic.

I've been a Bible student since 1968 and have yet to encounter a passage
condemning gambling per se. It appears to me that people "feel" gambling is
sin; but in reality, it's only sin because they think it is.

Take, for example, Adam's and Eve's reactions upon tasting the forbidden
fruit. The first thing they did was fashion some loin cloths for themselves
because they "perceived" that full frontal nudity is shameful. But God was
curious to know why they would think full frontal nudity is shameful
because He had said nothing about it.

Well; the fact is; they "felt" it was shameful just as today people "feel"
gambling per se is sinful; viz: it's in their minds rather than in scripture.
