He told us why He came, and that function was not part of it.

He 'did,' in Mt 3:11.. but on the other hand, as you say, He didn't do the act of baptizing believers in water.
Because He let, and wanted others to do it... Paul said something similar about himself.
It's almost like leading someone to the point of baptism is all the work..
you might be looking for John 4:2

Paul gives the answer in 1 Cor. 1:10-15:
1 Cor. 1:10-"...and that there be no divisions among you..."
1 Cor. 1:11-"...there are contentions among you."
1 Cor. 1:12-"Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ."
1 Cor. 1:13-"Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?"
1 Cor. 1:14-"I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;"
1 Cor. 1:15-"Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name."

Paul says that for some, the vanity of flesh would have latched on to being baptized by the "celebrity" of himself, Peter, Jesus or any of the other apostles. If people had been baptized directly by any of the above, flesh would have boasted in such against those that had "only" been baptized by just some regular preacher that no one knows and didn't actually meet Jesus in person or was taught by Him directly. The attention was to be "in the name of Jesus" and there should be no competitor. This fault is why we have so many denominations and pastors that advertise their name with the church now.

Jesus does Baptize us, but not in the natural way, but spiritual.

Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

We are also baptized into His death, but also raised up a new man in His resurrection.

Romans 6:3
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

I can think of about five, right off the top of my head.

You want to learn? Good, I'll help.

Just giving you numbers to look up is child's play... we did that when I was "acing" Sword Drills back in Sunday School, more than 60 years ago. I told you what Jesus, Himself said. (I typed it out for you.) You own a computer. You know how to use Google.

Now...... when you have found the several times this was covered in Scripture, you may have TRULY learned.

I didn't think you could. You do not know, just like I don't know, looking for knowledge, not a man that doesn't know scripture.

John the Baptist came baptising

His disciples, including the future Apostles baptised with John's baptism with Jesus agreement. (John 3.22-23 with 4.1-2)

There is no record of anyone being iterally baptised during Jesus own ministry once John had been imprisoned

we are justified in seeing that Jesus baptised His disciples in Holy Spirit - they preached, healed and cast out evil spirits

Jesus commands the baptism of Christians after His resurrection (Matt 28.19)

I sure hope you did a better job of actually teaching your own children how to learn... rather than just being told what page to turn to. You'd have been up the creek without a paddle back in Biblical times.... they never had even one chapter or verse to search.

You do sound like a whiney kid. Do like the Bereans, and learn how to search the Scriptures. I guess maybe you didn't really mean it when you said you wanted to learn. Seems you just want to be told where to look, and what to believe.

I am a new Christian and you have set a poor example. I was just baptized, looking for guidance. I think I came across the wrong person. Shame on you!

All the more reason for you to begin learning the contiguous story of the Bible. Don't let yourself fall into the trap of memorizing a few verses to quote, fooling yourself into thinking that means you "know your Bible."

How's it going Willie-T?

Matthew 5:23-24:
[SUP]23 [/SUP]Therefore if thou bring thy gift to the altar, and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee;

[SUP]24 [/SUP]Leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

Sadly there are a lot of rude people in these forums, just so you know. Also be careful of what you hear, and how you hear, because there are many deceivers in the world right now.

If there is anything I can help you with concerning the scriptures just ask, and I'll do my best to show you by scripture. And congratulations on your baptism and faith in Jesus Christ, you won't be disappointed. Peace and God bless :)

Friend and dearly beloved, in the Gospel, 'as it is written', JESUS and HIS disciples did 'baptize' people who have come to 'repentance'. And that is why John the baptize's disciples 'complained' to him about them 'baptizing' people on the other side on their own.

Please read about this 'incidence' in the Gospel of John chapter 3, and verse 25 and 26.

Thank you and may GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST bless and help you all.
