You know, I have seen comments about who is and who is not a Christian........Do you guys think Jesus was a Christian? Of course as he set the standard on and for biblical Christianity.....How about the following things that Jesus did and make no mistake...he was all Christian....

1. Loved the sick, poor, sinful and was not shocked at sin....
2. Judged and condemned those who were religiously religious
3. Used sarcasm and pointed statements and even called a few names such as blind leaders of the blind, white washed coffins filled with the bones of dead men, hypocrites etc.
4. Made a whip and in violence drove the money changers from the temple
5. Wept over unbelief
6. Socialized and ate/drank with whores, publicans and sinners
7. Gathered the children and rejoiced over them and blessed them
8. Fed the poor twice
9. Suffered numerous things for the cause of right

Just to mention a few.........Maybe we have embellished Christianity today and set standards that are more humanistic and religious in scope with nothing much in common with Jesus and how he actually was.......just a few points to ponder!

If you really have to ask that question then you missed the point of the post, and are missing the point of who sets the standard for Christianity and how the disciples were just LIKE HIM and that is why they were called Christian!

One of the most magnificent traits of our Lord Jesus, which endeared me to Him to no end, those early Christian days reading the gospel of John, was His unmitigated truth, telling all things "as it is," not mincing words, no compromise, no such thing as politically correct at the expense of truth, no man pleasing, and lending deeper meaning to, "And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did." Something else interesting, do you notice how it's often the most hateful and deceptive who pull the love card, who yet go into a rage when their lies are exposed? I've not seen one here, cavorting with those of false gospels and pulling the love and unity card, who hasn't blown a gasket, themselves. You know our Lord Jesus of Matthew 23 would be banned.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

I think you guys are missing one thing that you probably wouldn't follow Jesus in.... letting a violent mob murder Him, without resisting for even one moment.

He was surrendered to the will of the Father.

That's one and here's a second:

Meekness.

A couple of the responses from the OP were way out of line. Why couldn't he answer without the insults? Why can't many posters on this forum do the same?

This is true, that we would all have to have strength from the Lord to do what is right, if that death has a purpose, like martyrdom. On the other hand, I believe we must differentiate what sort of violent mob you refer to. If it's mindless, evil criminals, I wouldn't find it a true witness to assent to evil by not resisting, leaving the evil to go after the next guy: that would not be love of neighbor. So, I'd shoot back, not a second's thought otherwise. Lastly, I wouldn't dispute your point, from the standpoint that, unlike some here, I'm not Jesus, can't myself, mournful thing in the flesh I am, attain to the status of God-man. Maybe you can't, either, to say you may not wear your criticism, but also for the grace and strength of God in you, should the time arise? Or maybe you're not a "you guys." There's a lot of that going around here, but not thinking that's Willie-T, however inscrutable.

At one time in my life I went completely the other way from the way I was brought up...that Christians are supposed to be all nicey nice all the time and make sure so as not to make someone feel uncomfortable. While my pendulum did swing all the way the other direction at one time, I've sort of arrived at the middle ground where I can be nice and let my personality shine thru (which can be a little cutting to some) yet not worry about what others think of me.

Lets just chunk destiny as that was his lot for humanity and the will of the Father.....maybe it is not the will of the Father for me to die under a mob mentality murderous intent.....

Actually I was quite calm when I posted that. a little advice when you post an exclamation mark after what is said it is seen as speaking in a louder voice or being angry or upset

I can't argue with this, Willie. I'd succumb to a violent mob in order to save others, but someone's getting kicked in the pills before I die.
