When the land which was to be known as Israel was promised by God to the Children of Israel, they were to conquer the then existing nations within the confines of the are promised.

It is my undersstanding the Children were to be given rest after having vanquished those nations.

They did have a brief rest, but not permanent rest because they were rebellious and often played the whore..

Of course, had the Children been totally and perfectly obedient there would be no need for another Israel, another rest.

By the gospel of Jesus Christ all who will come to Him are now joined to the Original Flock, and we now await the true Israel of God, the capital of which is New Jerusalem to come down form God. When this occurs we will once and forever enter into His rest.

The Sabbath rest is not the same, it is simply a rest from the other six days of work. Many people today say they are in constan rest becaue they believe Jesus Christ. I find this to be a delusion.

I do not know of anyone now in the flesh who has entered into toatl rest with God,, nor total resst from mundane work in this age.

The truth is now residing in our inward parts and in our hearts, but eternal rest with God will come when the batles are over and we are in the Israel of God with our King present. We are not reigning now in this age without the King. That thought is ridiculous.

As yet we have not invited every man under his fig tree, nor have any achieved the state of everyone kowing the Lord, but this Day is coming for all who are in Jesus Christ.

I believe many are self-deceived because they forget or even deny that our faith truly is the faith of Abraham, and not some latter day invention of mankind, that being of a denomination.

Believe Jesus Christ and do His word, for He is our Example, and we are to conduct ourselves as best we are able just as He did. Praise god.

My only comment would be that our faith is a faith LIKE Abraham's. However, that faith comes from the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Abraham did not endow us with this gift of faith, the Holy Spirit did.

Other than that........... :)

I refer to the faith of Abraham as mentioned by Jesus Christ. We are children of Abraham in the spirit. Keep in mind there are levels of understanding many teachings. Abraham is the "honored father of a multitude." I have heard a person in the Holy Spirot sjpit pit. "Praise Abraham!" The reference was not to the father of us all in the manner of the flesh. Abraham is my Father, for He is teh Honored father of a multitude. My faith is a gift from our Father.

We become heirs to the Promise made to Abraham for sure. And he was justified by his faith for sure. I just balk at giving Abraham credit for our faith or salvation, or status as having become worthy to be called the children of God. I give Jesus all the credit for that. :)

This expression is just that, an expression. We have the faith of Abraham. Abraham believed God. He also obeyed God. Most fascinating is that he was also privvy to the Gospel. When we receive the free gift of faith from the Father it is all the very same faith, sometimes referred to as the faith of Abraham. Abraham also received the same from God. This is the faith of all who believe. Honestly, I always thought everyone knew this when the Holy Spirit entered into them; I really did.

Psalm 137:1-9
1By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.
2We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.
3For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; and they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.
4How shall we sing the LORD'S song in a strange land?
5If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning.
6If I do not remember thee, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I prefer not Jerusalem above my chief joy.
7Remember, O LORD, the children of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.
8O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.
9Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
