Plenty of non-christians do marriage for the federal benefits it gives you. If the government had never gotten involved in marriage in the first place, then none of this would have ever been an issue.
Believe me, there are no benefits for me getting married. She gets all the benefits cos im a hell of a catch, I just get ear ache.

I work with a guy who made this comment the other day - "There is no point for me to work overtime because the more I make the more she spends so I'm in the same boat either way." :eek:

Then he made a poor choice in a wife didnt he? Those things should be discussed before marriage to prevent issues later.

What an absolute load of crap you speak, what a foolish thing to say, are you for real mate?, how is it mocking God?

I think his English may be hard to understand.I think he is meaning marriage is a sacred union created by God.That is how I took it.

Me and my wife are non believers and we got married.

It had nothing to do with God. We wanted to prove our commitment to each other.

Marriage also predates Christianity so I don't see where the God mocking comes Into it.

I feel I'm being pushed towards God by something I don't yet understand. But feel I'm getting pushed away from it by illinformed, opinionated and arrogant people who are supposed to represent God.

Gods plan for marriage was from the beginning.Since He has no beginning or end nothing "pre-dates" Him.Whether one marries or not is up to them but it is a sacred union,not to be taken lightly.It is Gods foundation and the family are the building blocks of society.

If you have met arrogant Christians Im sorry you've had that experience.The vast majority of Christians are not that way.At least true Christians are not that way.No one can push or pull you in any direction.A relationship with God is a very personal experience.If you dont understand ask anyone here,read the Bible and even pray "if you are real,show me".You will find The Answer.

As it is written in John 3; 3-7, to notify non-Christian, who want or try to learn and understand and add to their lives bits and pieces taken from the HOLY BIBLE about the true Living GOD, that;

3. JESUS answered him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of GOD." 4. Nicodemus said to HIM, "How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?" 5. JESUS answered, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the SPIRIT, he cannot enter the Kingdom of GOD. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the SPIRIT is spirit. 6. Do not marvel that I said to you, You must be born again. ........."

There will always be a 'conflict' between a 'spiritually knowledgeable' person born from above and a 'carnally knowledgeable' person born from below, about the word/teaching of the HOLY BIBLE.

JESUS said this, that;

"You cannot give what is Good and Holy to dogs. For it will only turn around and bite you."

JESUS did not spend time with Nicodemus trying to teach and explain to him the Kingdom of GOD, but only said specifically that he must be born from above in order to see and to enter the Kingdom of GOD.

Please do not continue in 'vain' discussion and debates about the HOLY BIBLE with a non-believer. They simply specifically need to be born from above first, in order to 'recognize' us.

Thank you and may GOD the FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST keep HIS lambs and sheep safe and from temptation, and from 'harms' way and bless them, and also protect them from their adversaries.
Thanks for the insight. But as ambassadors of Christ, i don't think it's a bad thing to explain what Christ has proclaimed and stated on certain issues.
