If your heart was hardened you would not want to come back.

If God tells us to forgive others over and over, wouldn't he forgive us?

Pay attention to yourselves! If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him, and if he sins against you seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”

Note: Forgiveness is not a license to sin, but grace means He forgives more than we deserve. That is what Jesus accomplished.

Jesus wants you to come to Him just as you are and surrender it all to Him.

Go read the parable of the Prodigal Son. That is a story about you and God.... and it was placed there for you to read.

Gaining salvation requires one and only one thing: a conscious decision to accept Christ as your savior. Losing salvation also depends on one and only one thing : a conscious decision to deny Him. Backsliding is keeping your faith but living in sin. Apostasy is renouncing your faith. Typically, those who go apostate really don't care. Since you still care, I would place your transgressions as backsliding and not apostasy.

God and His Holy Spirit can soften your heart if you still believe. And by your next to last sentence, I tend to think that you still believe!

Welcome back prodigal son! Don't let satan and his minions tell you any different!

Jesus promised to never leave you nor forsake you....All that the Father has given him will he keep, not lose and will finish that which he started in you....You are sealed with the Holy Spirit of Promise which is the earnest (prepayment) of your eternal inheritance....and you are in the Father's Hand and in the hand of the SON....your salvation is based upon Jesus and his work/faith and he eternally makes intercession for you. The bible also states that your life is HID within Christ and when the Father looks at you he sees you dia the blood of Christ and as one who has been rendered legally innocent (justified) even though you are guilty!

Believe Jesus and trust his word.........If God should mark iniquity then none would stand...for there is not a JUST man upon the earth that does good and sins not!

The fact that you know that Jesus is the answer and that you want Him as the answer is proof that you are not totally hardened. The way back is in a sense easy. The Father is running towards His prodigal son, with His arms outstretched. Yu must say. 'Father I have sinned against Heaven and before you. I am looking towards the One Who died for me on the cross and bore my sins. Forgive me for His sake and save me from my sin.'

Then He will throw His arms around you and welcome you. You must accept it by faith.

The fact that you realize you've been living sinful (as we all once did) and that you need Christ as your Saviour, tells me that there is still hope. Personally, I don't believe a person can lose his salvation, for several reasons. One who is predestinated and belongs to the Lord, will come to Him before he or she dies. His sheep are His sheep and will hear and follow His voice in the end. If a shepherd has 100 sheep and one is lost somewhere, he will find that lost sheep and will temporarily leave the other 99 to get that last one (see Gospel). You might be that last one. These are serious things, so I suggest you turn off your computer for a moment and dedicate some time for prayer. He who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, the apostle Paul says in Romans 8 I believe.

You will hear this nonsense on this board, too, Jere, that you can "lose your salvation," but that is impossible for one who has truly believed and confessed Christ as Savior, and had that confession acknowledged by the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

The question is, did that happen back in your youth? If not, it is time to take care of that by going before God and telling Him you believe you a sinner, that you need a Savior who is Christ, and that you know He arose again from the grave to bring you eternal life.

Find a church, pay no attention to Internet preachers or You.Tube boobs. Find a good, solid, Bible-preaching church, get involved in their ministry, Bible studies, and just begin to tell people what Jesus has done for you.

We all, I'm sure, join in prayer for you, your growth, your blessings, and your calling in Christ. God bless you.

You're welcome, Jere. Can I ask you something? It seems to me that some preachers have been teaching things that actually aren't true. The best thing you can do, is pray to the Lord and ask Him to answer your questions. As ironically as this may sound, the internet is probably the worst place to get right answers because every church or pastor or web site has their own teachings. There is only one kind of teaching that is 100 % correct and will always help you and that is called the Bible. (This doesn't mean that you can never read something on the internet of course).

Also, "Test ye the spirits wheter they are from God or not, because many deceiving spirits have gone out into the world," John declares in his letters. If someone says something about a theological issue, never believe it unless you can find his statement in the Bible.

You have to become a true Berean: "The Bereans... searched the Scriptures daily to see whether those things were so." If you have any further questions or remarks, feel free to send me a message. But above all, call out to Him and sooner or later He will give you an answer.

Exactly. If we are told to forgive our brother 70 x 7, are we to believe Christ is less forgiving than He expects us to be? Absolutely not.

1 John 2:1,2 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

This is a good suggestion for any of us. Frankly, the more time you spend here is time you are not really spending with God, but just listening to a bunch of us tell you what we think......... and that really isn't the way to talk with God.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I bring Jere to you this moment. I pray Lord you clear His mind, and bring Him to you. Let Him know you're waiting. Faith and conviction has brought Him back to you. Give Him peace in knowing he's waiting with arms open.
We remember james 4:8 draw nigh to you, and you will drawnigh to us.
I pray father that you put the right Godly people in Jere's life to disciple him. I thank you for your word and promises.

I love you,

Rose

There is a difference between apostasy (willing rejecting Jesus as your Savior after having tasted of the good things of the Spirit) versus say backsliding into a life of sin (like the prodigal son) while still believing Jesus is still one's Savior. In Hebrews 6:4-6, the Jewish Christians wanted to go back to their old ways of being a Jew and deny Jesus Christ as their Savior willingly after they had experienced the mighty workings of the Holy Spirit within their life so as to avoid persecution for Christ. In other words, you would have needed to experience the power of the Holy Spirit in your life AND willingly reject Jesus as your Savior in order to commit the sin of apostasy (Which one cannot repent of).

James 5:19-20 talks about how a faithful believer has helped a backslidden believer to repent of their life of sin to the saving of their soul. I have personally backslidden into a life of sin after being a believer for a while but I always believed Jesus was my Savior. In the beginning of my faith: While I knew I was born agan and regenerated, I did not experience the great workings of the Holy Spirit in my life. After I renewed my faith in Christ, I knew that if I were to have died in my backslidden life, I would not have been saved. Most here believe you can never truly apostatize from the faith because they believe in the deadly doctrine known as "Once Saved Always Saved." Some of them believe this because they do not think certain sins done on occasion will separate them from Christ. But God's people are holy and good and they do not condone evil or sin.

Anyways, if you did not apostatize as per Hebrews 6:4-6, then I would encourage you to repent and renew your faith in Him (As I also once did). You will find that you will have more of an appreciation for the Lord and His good ways by doing so.

I feel that i passed the point of no return with god because of what these preachers say.

http://www.texsource.com/bible/sermons/166.pdf
But who are you going to believe, what God says or what some preachers say?

Just the fact that you are here worrying about it tells me you don't have to worry about it.

Salvation is based upon BELIEF and not works. Do you believe that Jesus is the crucified and resurrected Son of God? If your answer is yes then you have NOT reached the point of no return. End of story!

Rejoice! God forgives you. Now move on and live for God!

There really is no point of living for God if you are forgiven while living for yourself and sin. For if I provided an easy and natural miracle cure for people to lose weight without any side effects and without them having to change their diet or physical activity, then people will eat whatever they want (as if there were no consequences involved). In other words, not only does the Word of God tell us that this is true, but life teaches us that there are consequences in doing bad.
