That's a lake, but not the one we used to go to. We went to Eagle Lake in Tichborne. (Population: 100 in winter and 300 in summer.) The closest "town" was Sharbot Lake. (Big enough for a laundromat AND a Chinese-Canadian restaurant.) The closest city was an hour away -- Kingston. Which part of Southern ON is this lake/your memories?
"Our" lake was way out there, too, miles away from anything, Kingston being the closest large town, as well, also about an hour away. No electricity or running water, outhouses, lots of fishing, swimming, horse and deer flies, and amazing clouds of mosquitos that could drive one insane starting around dusk, but would disappear as soon as the dew settled around 11 at night. And the stars! O my! A special place, indeed :).

Old Fort Henry, The Thousand Islands, Upper Canada Villiage, Bon Echo Provincial Park, the Rideau Canal System and so many more cool places in Southern Ontario!

One of my other "when we retire" dreams was to travel the St. Lawrence River in a rented houseboat for a month. :D
