Why the redundancy of images?

The requirement of an Apostle is that they must have seen the Lord, Paul saw him on the road to Damascus.

Really? There's a requirement to be an Apostle?? And what's the difference between a disciple and an Apostle?

Probably means this when choosing a replacement for Judas Iscariot...

So one of the men who have accompanied us during all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, beginning from the baptism of John until the day when he was taken up from us—one of these men must become with us a witness to his resurrection."
(Act 1:21-22)

The 12 were apostles. There can be no more apostles. All Christian believers are followers of Christ - disciples.

Correct, Paul was the twelveth after Judas was disallowed, the vote by lot was not the will of the Spirit because he had not yet descended.

My understanding was the apostles were there to spread the good news to
the Jews - can't put new wine into old wine skins etc - hence the need to ensure
they were witnesses to what Jesus had done, his work his resurrection etc.
They had to be able to show the Jews that the promised Messiah was Jesus.
Still a difficult task even today.

They had a different role to Paul who preached to the Gentiles.

Incidentally both Paul and the apostles were extremely successful don't you
think. :)

Acts 1:20-26 NKJV
[20] "For it is written in the Book of Psalms: 'Let his dwelling place be desolate,
And let no one live in it'; and, 'Let another take his office.' [21] "Therefore, of these
men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out
among us, [22] beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was
taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His
resurrection."
[23] And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who
was surnamed Justus, and Matthias. [24] And they prayed and said, "You, O
Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen

[25] to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by
transgression fell, that he might go to his own place." [26] And they cast
their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven
apostles.

Here's a good article on whether there are apostles today:

Are There Still Apostles Today? | The Cripplegate

Ephesians 2:20 indicates that they were in the foundation of the church, along with the prophets.

I think God could use individuals at some point to perform a prophetic role, such as the two witnesses of Revelation, but in general those two offices are part of the foundation. We have Scripture as our more sure guide.

If we had prophets now, we'd need to establish their credentials somehow.

Paul saying, "You here for me?" Doesn't make any sense. What is going on?

Any missionary sent to another place to start a work is an apostle.

It just means sent.
basically any of us can be one.

Matthias took place of Judas didnt he?
Jesus told the disciples to wait at Jersalem. What part of casting lots is waiting. The Spirit, the promise of the Father, had not come, they added Matthias in the flesh when Paul was God chosen to be an Apostle.

I think these are being referred to...

Revelation 21:14 (KJV) And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of THE TWELVE apostles of the Lamb.

Doing the work of an apostle does not make one an apostle in the sense that the original twelve were apostles. We all do the work of an apostle when we witness for Christ and attest to what He has done for us.

Pastors are told to do the work of an evangelist in Ephesians.

Always concerned about those who seek a title instead of just ministering to the need at hand.

Apostle is someone sent out with a message and a disciple is someone that is learning.
