the only place called Paradise in Scripture is in the presence of God, the third heaven (2 cor 12.1-3)

You did say "original"..so paradise is in heaven.. However, if you had said "FINAL"..then paradise would be on the new earth, the one that the new city of Jerusalem descends upon, as prophesied by John.

Wherever you want it to be?, paradise is subjective to the individual, go ask a ton of people what their idea of paradise is?

I have a little corner of paradise in my spirit now. Because He lives there!

God will make his dwelling place with mankind on earth.

Read Revelation 21 and 22. This tells about it.

New Jerusalem will come down from heaven, and God will dwell with mankind here.

It is a restoration of the state of perfect harmony with God that existed before Adam and Eve sinned.

' This day you'll be with me in paradise' meant the nice part of Hades, under the earth.
According to Lk 16 and 2 Cor 12, Rv 6; Ac 2; 1 Thes 4; and 2 Tim 2:18

Yes, I've heard this view.

I think what he was looking for, though, was the ultimate place of reward for the faithful. If I'm not mistaken, this two compartment view of Hades was supposed to be until the Cross, as a place for the saved until Christ's sacrifice. After the cross, those in Paradise were ushered into heaven. But I'm not sure on this.

Can anyone clarify this? I think it's based on the Lazarus and the Rich Man parable, and "Abraham's bosom".

yes that's the prevalent idea in Christianity. Maybe based on 2 Cor 5 'absent from the body, present with the Lord.'
Also because the --- I call it fantasy --- of heaven as a country club mansions, that appeals to the flesh or soul.

The 'proof text' in that case is in Eph, about 'captivity being taken captive.' Yet, in Eph and elsewhere, that refers to living believers, gifts to the Body---like Paul. Not deceased people going to a more paradisical paradise.
Also there's the whole matter of Paul a) both yearning to be clothed with a transfigured body--as opposed merely to dying and going somewhere in a disembodied state. And b) Paul's point to Timothy that the resurrection has not yet taken place.
There is no 'resurrection of souls'--- which is apparently the mistaken interpretation of Eph 4 (?) is.
I think!

In the bible it said Lazarus was carried to the bosom of Abraham and the rich man was buried and he lifted his eyes up in hell and asked to have his tongue to be cooled and Abraham said that there was a great gulf between them so they could not go there and those there couldn't come over where Abraham was.

was there two names for hell?

Is 'the original paradise' the garden of Eden?
I think 'eden' means paradise.
So-------on earth.
The final place, Rev 2---3, is earth too, the New Jerusalem.

John 14:1-4 refers to a person, not a 'place.'
My Father's house----------is Christ. Now Christ and the church, 1 Tim 3:16.
The many abodes are the many believers into Christ. Each one constituting a
precious abode. A home, as in 'that Christ may make His home in your hearts
thru faith,' Eph 3.
If any man love Me, My Father and I will come to him and make an abode with
Him................that where I am, there you may be also..........You in Me and I
in you, and they in Us.

In regards to the new heavens, in Rv 21--22, maybe angels will be flying around
there, apparently stars and moon(s) and stuff. It's sad how astronomers are looking
for life out there. When the eternal life was manifested here.

- these verses show that those in older generation are not raised yet

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with the men of this generation,
and condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom
of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it:
for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; a
nd, behold, a greater than Solomon is here

The men of Nineve shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it:
for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.
Matthew 12:41,

Luke 11:32

There are two views regarding this question.

One is that those who die experience nothing until the resurrection. At the resurrection, their spirit is joined with their body again and the body is glorified. This view is called the "soul sleep" view.

The other view is that those who die are in heaven in the presence of Christ. At the resurrection, their spirit is joined with the body again and the body is glorified.

The "soul sleep" view is the less popular one but it was held by Martin Luther.

Either way, though, most Christians believe the final destination is the New Heavens and New Earth and that God will make his dwelling place here. It is kind of like a restoration of the state mankind was in previously, at the Garden of Eden.

Heaven is not a place. It is what our lives become when we repent of our sin.
Who knows where we'll go when we die? I wonder if we will even have physical bodies. Life is eternal, though.
