Aside from the Bible of course! :)

For me, it was Classic Christianity by Bob George. It helped me to steer clear of legalism and gave me a better understanding of the grace of God.

Destined to Reign by: Joseph Prince........... and then Saints in the Arms of a Happy God by Jeff Turner.

Normal Christianity was good, too. Welton, not Nee.

The Lord of the Rings, easily.
I actually saw a number of Christian themes what struck me most was the nature of Aragón which modeled that of a godly King.

The Father Heart of God by Floyd McClung showed me how God fills the voids mere people can leave in us.
Total Forgiveness (can't recall the author right now) was another good one.

"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost."

Yea, LOTR has a lot of Christian allegories in it, so much so that I suppose we could write a book of a topic on it itself.

I know that almost all of us have probably read The Purpose Driven Life by: Rick Warren, but how many of you have read The Jesus Driven Life by: Michael Hardin?

It's not a book for lightweights, but he does an admirable job of keeping all the big Theological terms to a minimum.

I'm open to reading The Purpose Driven Life, though I'm skeptical of Rick.

No single piece of Christian literature has impacted me very largely, but of course Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan was very intriguing. I also very much liked The Screwtape Letters by C.S. Lewis.

For one, the bible, thats an amazing christian book haha. Battlefield of the mind spoke to me in many ways about how I struggle with thoughts and the therein. It is help me exponentially with changing thought patterns in my life and guarding my heart and mind. Others have been the bait of Satan and thus saith the Lord? By John Bevere.

That's why Mike entitled his book with that play on words. It is pretty much the opposite of Rick's thinking.

Foundations of a Christian Faith. First time ever the big ideas and the basic principles were explained to me in language I could understand. (I'm really not up on the lingo at all.)

I miss Bob George. He used to be on a radio program I listened to, and I am not sure what happened to it or even what it was called now. He did say some things I did not agree with, but overall I enjoyed his teaching. As a new Christian I used to get him mixed up with Hank Hanegraaff, whom I also have a great deal of respect for as a teacher.

The most influential book I have read is the Gospel of John
:)

The Christians Secret to a Happy Life by Hannah W Smith.

I mention this one because others have already mentioned Pilgrims Progress and Destined to Reign.

Now that I think back on it "someone" must have been guiding me in my reading back in 4th grade. I was given The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings to read. And I loved all of them. I was oblivious of their connection to Christianity. Until later...

So many of the books I read as a child, and then as a teen and young man, were chock full of road signs leading to Christ. Probably the most compelling was The Prophet by: Khalil Gibran, then later, the entire TV series, Kung Foo.

Yep. Its pretty awesome to think about.

How we were being led to the Lord before we had any idea, really, about Him.

I've only wanted to meet a fair handful of people here, and you make me wish Montana wasn't so far away.

The Heart of Hebrew History, The Jewish Book of Why, and I know this may sound strange, but I like to read Bible Dictionaries and do word studies from the Hebrew and Greek.....The words mean everything at the end of the day....never been much for commentaries though!

Oh well, in THAT case, for many years, I read the World Book Encyclopedia for entertainment. My mother and grandmother were teachers, and they sneakily left different volumes of them lying around where I couldn't miss them... and they had neat color pictures.
