Is she credible? My Protestant Bible study wants to study her book and I am not on board with the decision, but I've been told to keep an open mind.....

Well she's a woman leading over men and women...

1st Timothy clearly speaks on this...how a woman should not be in leadership over men. So that's my number one issue with her, and well she's just annoying...everyone thinks she is so wonderful because she 'says it like it is'... no she talks like that because she know it will get people's attention, it's what they WANT to hear.

She has a HUGE following, check out her website, she has tickets on herself too. She makes claims on there about being some big shot preacher.

Sorry, I don't like her, she really grinds my gears.

But this is just personal opinion.

Thanks for your opinion - it helps.

I've also heard that she preaches prosperity gospel - is there any truth in that?

I have avoided her in the past because here supposedly straightforward approach seem anti-intellectual to me - she doesn't distinguish between reason and human reasoning, which gives the impression that God does not want us to think

hello,

I have information on Joyce Meyer she is not following God's word on what it says about preachers.
The Bible says that a preacher is not supposed to be in the ministry for money.
A preacher does not get blessed any more than any other saint.
Those that are rich are to distribute their money to the poor.Jesus told the rich Man to sell all he has and then he would be right with God.The early Church sold everything and gave to each other as each man had need.
Joyce Meyer and others like her seem to live in a rich manner which is contradictory to God's word.
A woman is not supposed to preach. The reason is that God has to have an authority structure on earth so things get done. The military, school, police force or any business has an authority structure so things go smoothly.
The Bible says that the authority structure is God,Christ, man, woman.Woman should have uncut hair because of the angels. That is because a woman is above an angel in the authority structure.
The saints will have a higher honor in heaven than that of the angels.Angels are ministering spirits sent to minister to those who shall inherit salvation. The Bible says that the angels desire to look in to the salvation of the saints because the saints will have a higher honor in heaven than the angels.
Paul said that a woman should not preach to a congregation because it would violate God's authority structure on earth.Joyce Meyer violates 2 of God's rules that a woman should not preach and she is living to expensively than God wants her to live.
The truth is that the precher is only supposed to go by their needs and moderately and the rest of the money goes towards God's work.

1 Tim 2:

12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

I found this quote online as well:

I base my position on a pattern in the whole Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, where there is never an instance where a woman does teaching of God’s word to an assembled group of men. It was the priests in the Old Testament who did the Bible teaching or the teaching of God’s law, and they were all men. In the New Testament, elders all had to be men. So that’s consistent with Paul’s specific instruction in 1 Timothy 2:12

We live in a world where Christianity has become powerless and evil doers prosper in increasing measure. Perhaps female preachers are one good reason why the effectiveness of the gospel has been lost. Either that, or at best they are a mere a symptom of the disease.

so Jesus told a man to go sell all he had nothiong about a preacher , so before you judge anyone over that, you had better go sell everything you have, before you cast any stones at someone else

She's one of the few evangelists on T.V. I approve of. When I first saw her on T.V. I didn't like her but once you give her a chance she rely grows on you. I still watch her from time to time, the only thing that I disapprove of is she puts too many things on sale but she at least keeps the selling things separate from her show.

Joyce Meyer is not a pastor she is a teacher. She does not place herself in authority over any person. She has ministry partners, not members. She is paid well for her teaching and she gives a large percentage of her income to her charitable ministries. All of this information is available on her website.

I do have a question. If her ability to teach is a gift from God and she shares with whoever comes to her sessions is she sinning? I don't think so. Any gift from God is to be shared with others.

I love Joyce Meyer! She's great because she is an ''uplifter'', not a prosperity gospel. She's great to read when you're depressed or going through hard times because she's BEEN there and has great insights on how God heals those wounds. Seems like the biggest problem people have with her is that she's a woman. Yeah okay. Whatever.

I have heard her speak, some of what she says sounds good. But, I question some of her teachings as well. If there is nothing else on, I will listen to her, but she is not my favorite.

She has a golden toilet so, according to many protestants that is enough not to listen to her. But, I'd say maybe that's the only luxury she has.

There are many female teachers throughout the body of Christ. They are in Sunday school classrooms in almost every church. Do you say that they are all to be silent. If so, then every Sunday school program in every church would suffer

If Joyce Meyer has a teaching engagement scheduled and a man comes to it, is she to be silent? The majority of the people that comes to her sessions are women but her lessons are applicable to all.

I don't thnk God would give someone a gift someone and then put a muzzle on them so that they could not use it.

I am not God and do not presume to judge a believer. I leave that to God.

IF you go to see her and go with a 'religious' attitude, you won't like her. If you go to hear the Word of God and how to apply it to your life, you WILL like her!
She is doing a conference in Phoenix this week!

Hey everyone,

You opinions really helped me out - I was able to put preconceived thoughts and emotions about Joyce aside and teach a decent Bible study on a chapter in her book.

Thanks!
