I'm new here but just by reading y'alls discussion I'm very interested in what y'all feel about this topic. There are scriptures too back up both sides and since God doesn't contradict Himself then there must be only one answer. I ask this because of my personal experiences and other people I know. For myself I was raised in the church, went to Sunday school, read my bible, baptised, etc. As I got into my twenties I fell away from it. I lived very much of the world. However if somebody would've asked me if I was a Christian I would've said of course,I love Jesus, believe He died for my sins and I will be forgiven and go to heaven. Then years later(almost twenty) I got born again(again?)and started realizing how sinful and far away from God I really was. Some people say well then obviously you weren't saved back then because you wouldn't have lived like you did but I feel like I was. I was sincere when I did it. I feel like you can lose your salvation. Isn't that what Paul warns us about? Isn't that why we must wear our armor? I feel like most of the warnings in the New Testament are to believers. If we can't lose our salvation, why are the warnings in the bible for us. Thank you for reading my post.

I'm not going to really get into this..

But I will say that you won't really get answers. Just back and forth arguing over this topic. It's a very touchy subject to people on CC. There are many topics on this already with way too many pages of people arguing and debating about it. Twisting God's word to fit their own beliefs. (Not everyone does but some do)

With that being said, I do hope you find the answer you're looking for.

The warnings are there because the Churches to whom the Epistles were written to contained a mixture of truly born again and just professors.
Your not going to find the answer to osas here as it will turn into a free for all.

Oh sorry I didn't see any others on this topic. I'm not really looking for someone to answer it for me. I believe the answer is in the bible. I'm just wondering if anyone has any personal experience like me. Where you got born again, again?

The scriptures are clear......Jesus said...I will never leave thee nor forsake thee....there are no buts connected to this statement!

When we are told to wear our armor that is definitely to believers because,well obviously. So what happens if we don't heed that warning? Satan gets us.

I spent over a year from the time I was born again til I fully dedicated myself to Christ, living in some debauchery along the way. He took that long from planting the seed til it penetrated my thick heart.
Ooops...again-again...no can do here.

Thank you crossnote. Although I don't know if that was what was happening to me. Twenty years is a long time for the seed to start to grow. I feel like I stepped away from Jesus not that He stepped away from me. I think I let my guard down and Satan got me. I thank God that now I am no longer lost.

Please show me scripture that supports the idea of being born again more than once.

Well I would think that would be scriptures about repentance in a way. Because if you are born again and fall away and start living a sinful life and don't repent then are you forgiven? I don't mean for one little thing. But like me for example. Almost twenty years off living a sinful life. Meanwhile still believing in Christ and thinking I'm going to heaven.

Listen Christine, God's forgiveness does not have an expiration date. You could have backslid for 70 years but when you return to Him confessing your sin He lovingly receives you with open arms just as the prodigal son was.

If we say that we do not have sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just, so that he will forgive us our sins and will cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
(1Jn 1:8-9)

Don't worry whether one could lose their salvation or not. His promise is to take back all who come back to Him.

Go to the search function and put in OSAS. I think you will find many long, long threads with people hashing this out.

This includes one person, who tells the same story as you. How he "backslid" and now thinks everyone is going to lose their salvation for living reprobate lives.

My testimony is quite different. I was very evil before I came to Christ at age 26. God has been holding onto me and transforming me every day since he saved me 35 years ago. I was not perfect, by any means. But I was always faithful in my commitment, and confessed my sins, as they happened. God did not desert me, and I know he will not desert you, Christine.

This theological topic has been hashed over many times and every time it ends up in a serious argument. I will tell you one thing that cannot be disputed though. Whether you believe in OSAS or not, if you have given your life to Christ then that is the answer. If you give your life to Christ and you live your life for Him you need not worry about OSAS. Live your life for God in everything you do. Put God first in everything is all you need to know. What I believe in OSAS or what others believe does not matter. What matters is you living your life according to Scripture and living fully for Jesus. Your beliefs in OSAS will not affect your salvation if you have truly given your life to Christ. End of debate end of subject....period.

Wow ok. I wasn't going to"debate" anybody. Lol. I was asking if people had similar experiences where they felt like they had to be born again, again. Besides how would anybody debate other people's experiences. Anyone and everyone's answer would be their opinion based off their interpretation of scripture. But sure we can drop this topic. Touchy subject for some,I guess.

No, not me. I know I've felt so beat up by some holier than thou preaching years ago that I was on my knees asking God to make me born again again. I think what your experiencing is true repentance from your works and not God making you born again, again and again :) Repentance so you can finally start living from what God put in you all those years ago.

It's possible. Like I said not really looking to debate. Only God knows. I would never claim to have all the right answers. I'm still learning. But I would like to add that for people that have been on here for awhile just bc a topic has been played out for you doesn't mean other new people aren't interested in discussing it. I know that I just looked and read a lot of posts before I actually posted. So you never know who's out there reading these discussions. For all you know somebody was wondering the same thing.

I've known former Christians who are now atheist or agnostic. They once believed they were saved, but now believe nothing. So while I don't believe God ever reneges on his promise (John 3:16), I believe its possible for a once saved person to have a change of heart and turn their back on God. OSAS applies to those who keep the faith and finish the race. jmo
