Hello,

Why do the Israelites need to prepare a Tabernacle during their exile to Israel? So much effort is required by god to prepare the Ark and the Tabernacle, when they will eventually have to leave it behind as they go to the land promised to them by God. It would have been better to build the Tabernacle in Israel, no?

A large portion of Exodus gives instructions how the priests garments must be made, in fact the dimensions of the Tabernacle and garments are made twice, all detail included. It was quite a boring read hearing about violet and scarlet fine linen of the priests garments, reminded me of the clothes that cardinals and the Pope might wear.

Thanks

The Lord often shows things in natural way first to be a reflection of the true spiritual things. There is a great wealth of insight for one who can see and hear what the Spirit was showing and saying in all the different types and shadows symbolized in the earthly Tabernacle.

Hebrews 8:5
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

Hello, I find these topics of the tabernacle and priest garments fascinating. In heb 3;5 the writer tells us that these things that were given to Moses would speak after there day. As for the linen garments, they were made from flax. Flax ripened at the same time as the barley. We know this because the 7th plague destroyed all the barley and flax but the wheat was not destroyed because it had not ripened yet. This was around the time of passover when they were to depart from egypt. The barley harvest was the day after passover. This is also when Jesus was raised frome the dead. The flax that ripened at passover represents the linen garments of those who are raised at the first resurrection. The barley represents the overcomes that make the first resurrection. The wheat is the church that are raised and are judged with the wicked(grape harvest) after the 1000 years. They don't receive the same reward as the unbelievers they just receive their reward at the same time. There are three harvest but only two resurrections. Jesus said the (hour ) comes where everyone who is in the grave shall here my voice and be raised some to life and some to judgement. We know that this can't be the first resurrection because all who are in the Graves don't rise at the first. Only the overcomer. Many say we'll arnt the churches overcomers? Well Jesus exhorts all seven churches saying" to him that over cometh. " then he promises them rewards such as to eat of the hidden manna, sit with me in my throne, and shall receive a rod of iron to rule. So we see Jesus makes a distinction between the churches and the overcomer.

Well there's so much time would fail. Peace in our Lord Jesus.

Moses was instructed by God to make everything that pertained to the tabernacle according to the pattern which He had showed him in the mount:

Exodus chapter 25 verse 9

According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

Exodus chapter 25 verse 40

And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.

Numbers chapter 8 verse 4

And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had shewed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

The writer of the New Testament epistle to the Hebrews tells us that this pattern was in relation to the true tabernacle which is in heaven into which Christ Himself has now entered as our High Priest:

Hebrews chapter 8 verses 1 thru 5

Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;
A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.
For if he were on earth, he should not be a priest, seeing that there are priests that offer gifts according to the law:
Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly things, as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle: for, See, saith he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount.

Hebrews chapter 9 verses 23 and 24

It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Again, there is a true tabernacle in heaven and we actually read about it and some of its furniture (for lack of a better term) in the book of Revelation. Here is one example:

Revelation chapter 11 verse 19

And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

That was a glimpse of the true tabernacle or temple in heaven which Moses' earthly tabernacle was fashioned according to the pattern thereof and seen within it was the ark of His testament or the true ark of the covenant.

Hopefully, as you begin to realize that Moses' tabernacle was a type of the true tabernacle in heaven, such a revelation will cause your boredom to dissipate.

Correction the barley harvest occurred 3 days after passover. This was the wave sheave offering that was fulfilled when Jesus arose from the grave.

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, correction instruction in rightousness that the man of God may be thoroughly furnished unto all good works. God bless

Also to add the linen garments were made from flax that ripened along with the barley. This speakers of a glorified body. The linen garments are the rightousness of the saints manifested.

There were three courts in the tabernacle. The outer court, the Holy place and the most Holy place. I see these three courts correlating with the three annual feast od passover, pentacost and tabernacles. Two of these have been historically fulfilled which would leave one more feast to come tabernacles. That means we have one more court to enter. The most Holy place. Praise God.

The tabernacle speaks more to us today. For God having some better thing for us that they without us should not be made perfect.

Actually, a large part of Exodus, even more in Leviticus, I'm up to Numbers now, and going through even more to it than that, and I suspect it keeps going into Deuteronomy, but hey! It also keeps going into the Promise Land too.

Spoiler alert: the ark and the tabernacle aren't over until something major happens. That major thing is the focus of the entire book. So, keep going, appreciate what you're seeing and keep noting the specifics, because the same specifics are used in an entirely different way when Jesus comes later in the book.

for one thing, "eventually" was 40 years later -- after almost everyone in the generation of people that left Egypt had died.
so to wait until they had occupied the promised land -- would have meant that all these people would have lived their whole lives without a place appointed for worship.

During their exodus. Because they're the house of God on earth.

No not leave it.
What else are they there for?

They built a temple there

They all are God's messages, His pictures, His meanings

They didn't leave the Tabernacle behind. It was eventually replaced with stone via Solomon while Israel was at peace with the surrounding nations. The clothes of the priests continued through the years. They all represent spiritual concepts of the fulfillment in Christ. We are now the Temple in the New Covenant.

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 1 Corinthians 6:19

Now the feast of Tabernacles (in representation) is not the temple of God, but they are both dwellings.

Thanks for the foreshadowing. I see in Numbers they disassemble it to take into Canaan. When I made my statement (I was still in Exodus), I was implying that they would be wasting time building the tabernacle only to take it apart, instead of going straight into Canaan to recapture the land promised to them. So my suspicion was in the right direction, they could have captured the area quicker, but for some reason God needed an interlude to build this tent.
