You are all guilty in this forum. I saw guys bring fresh things here and you all hounded them out. Most of what is said in here is so far from Christ. I see so much attacking for no reason. Its not scriptural. Now lets see how many take offence? I seen so manty threads of you all attacking brothers and sisters. The majority of whats printed here is so un-christ like. Take two weeks off and come back and look at what you said to each other. Its truly shocking. There are more encouraging people in my local pub.

We are all at diferent levels with Christ and when someone talks over your leval you attack them.

Has anyone in here got actual qualifications for teaching? You all talk like you are teachers. Do any in here preach at your church?

Most of what is in here is not that nice.

Hmm! So you have been a member for 2 days, and you have already figured out the workings of the BDF?

Either you read a lot and don't post (7 posts total as of right now) or you are a banned person coming back.

What kind of Christian comes back from a ban? A sinner who is unrepentant.

As for me personally, and quite a few others I know of, I have a MDiv and I am an ordained pastor. I preach in my church and I also do a lot of teaching.

I also volunteered in long term care for a few years. It was the most exciting work I have ever done. I learned so much from the old saints in the various facilities I was active in. And once, one of the staff was coming to the Bible study with a resident, and she got saved. After that, she found ways to be at the Bible study and started reading the Bible.

My biggest job really was loving and caring for the people. I was there for spiritual care, but that meant more than just teaching the Bible, it meant demonstrating Christ to those who did not know him. And yes, for those with dementia and Alzheimer's you could preach at them forever, and they would not retain it. But they did get to know me, and looked for to those visits, praying for them, and being present for them.

I would never preach hell to residents of long term care. A surprising number were truly Christians. For those that were not, I know that Jesus understood their spiritual state, and that he was in control, not me.

And your first post in the thread condems you of what I stated. Not much reading required to see peoples heart.
If you were dead as Paul says, you would not be offended. Its imposible to offened a dead person. So if you are offended you are still alive and not dead to self. You decide not me.

Hmm I think you are right Tintin. Condemning Angela on her first post...yeah not a good way to start. And yeah stevie you kind of do need to read a bit more than just one post to know someone's heart. Hmm I think I know your heart now also.

Stevie, I can't agree with you on this one. Angela is a wonderful woman of God who always brings love and Truth to the Table. I don't see a tone in her post that would suggest otherwise. Even when she corrects others with sternness, her love still remains.

Thank you to all the gentlemen who defended me!

As for Stevie, I just pray that you will be a solid and contributing member of this forum, if you truly are new to CC. If not, then I would suggest you close your profile, and obey the rules of this forum.

If you are truly new, Stevie, then welcome to CC. I do hope you will continue to post, and to discuss the Bible with us.

Jesus didn't get to know the entire world while He was here but He concentrated on training a few and showed us by example how to love sinners and correct church people (who thought they knew it all)..... not beat up little ole grandparents over the head telling them that they are going to hell...

Also you need to know your audience....half of the folks are in the home because they can't remember dementia and Alzheimer's possibly they gave their hearts to the Lord in younger years.....where are all the OSAS people when you need them????
Jesus loved sinners by telling them that they needed to repent and to be born again if they wanted to inherit the kingdom of God and we should be doing the same. The few that He trained whom you mentioned were instructed by Him to preach repentance for the remission of sins and they obeyed His instructions as the book of Acts and the epistles confirm for us:

Luke 24 verses 45 thru 48

Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And ye are witnesses of these things.

Also, nobody knows our audiences more than God Himself and this is why we need to be led by the Spirit in each and every situation and in respect to each and every individual. Within any given group, there are more than likely going to be different types of people with different types of needs. Some who have already entered the race will need a comforting message of God's grace and mercy and some will more than likely need to be warned of God's coming wrath so that they might repent and truly be recipients of God's grace and mercy. I know that such realities seem to upset a lot of people around here who seem to think that Jesus only went around correcting church people who thought they knew it all, but Jesus went right to the matters of the heart with all sinners and we should be doing the same no matter how unpopular it is. Of course, the first hearts that we ought to be concentrating on are our own hearts by remaining humble and teachable before the Lord ourselves. If we remove the beams from our own eyes first, then we'll be able to see more clearly and to truly help others, whatever their needs may be.

Great to see you back here, Brother! Your thread made me think of something. I visited a nursing home yesterday and the activities director told me once a week a pastor visits the residents and tells them they're all going to hell. I'll be there next week when he shows up. I don't want to argue with him, but make no mistake, I'll be sharing God's love and grace with this pastor's victims.
Or... maybe the activities director. lol

You - second person pronoun. Suggests the wiriter using the word isn't involved.

And yet, isn't that exactly what you're doing now?

We -- first person plural pronoun. Works better when the writer is part of the "you."

Alas, can't help it. You asked if we're qualified to teach? My degree in Communications/Sec. Ed. (Sec. Ed. translates into teaching at the high school level) actually seems to qualify me to correct your use of English. :D

To answer your last question, no, I'm not qualified to preach at my church. I'm not a preacher, so I don't preach. How about you, since you seem to be deeming yourself preacher here? And, do you really need to take two weeks off to see where you weren't so "nice" yourself in that post?

I'm harsh with Pharisees who shut out the Kingdom of Heaven against others and I make no apologies for doing so. As far as qualifications for teaching, I have a teaching degree and an M-Div, but that means nothing to me. I'd rather listen to people who's hearts are in tone with Jesus; people who immerse themselves in Scripture, prayer and live according to God's Greatest Commandments.

All that said, I take no offense at what you share because I need correction everyday, and am grateful to receive it from folks who understand our need for grace. Besides, I too have my favorite pub.
Pfft. You're harsh for the same reason I am. Northeasterner. More specific -- New Jersey, and some PA in your background. The first time you ever met me you said something that offended me. It just took me a while to realize -- ah! He's Jersey. Okay. Not an insult. :p

Go for it, Brother. I'd be there with you if I could. I imagine he is just doing what he thinks is God's will in preaching damnation (like some posters here seem to be obsessed with doing), but his negative message still needs to be countered with the actual words of Jesus.
Everyone's blaming the preacher. Couldn't it be the director is feeling convicted?

Thanks Utah! Like I said though I was quite discouraged when I saw the same arguments being rehashed from 5 months ago. And one was started by someone who had started that same subject at least twice before and there was already a forum on that subject. Yeah I fell back into the trap again and I apologize for it. But it is hard to just sit and watch a false teaching being taught without me speaking up. Not everything I said was all that great but, really the same thing again?

And Tintin is right.."much of BDF is hellish by nature. It's not good." There is so much to study in God's Word yet we bring up the same subjects constantly so we can show how "much we know". So we can lift up our knowledge of God. The blood of Christ has been buried so deep in legalistic arguments that it is now a whitewashed fence to coral us not save us.
I've got a virtual chainsaw if anyone needs out of the coral. I try very hard to avoid those same oles-same oles, but sometimes there's nothing left or it's hard to find something else.

Other is here though, if you're willing to dig through the trash.

Where was she attacking your spelling? She suggested that you say we instead of you because we includes yourself whereas you can simply mean others while excluding yourself.

You obviously missed it. To correct me on my spelling in public is really uncalled for. Doest hurt me at all. I seen it so many times before. Its like a stuck record. And it usully comes out when they have no answer. She read my post that I got more thanks for than any other post and pms. And then looked for fault never found any so pulls me on my spelling poor really.
She had nothing to say on any part of the post. But like I said you missed it.

PS and there was no suggestion as you say.

Go back and reread where you quoted her. She didn't say one thing about your spelling, so I don't know what you're talking about. Again, she admonished you to say we instead of you because we includes you as well as others.

Spelling is when a word is not spelled properly. For example, using "doest" instead of "doesn't" in this post. Or "your" instead of "you're" which you did in an earlier post.

What she was talking about was grammar and really theology. Instead of using the word "you" which is pointing fingers at everyone else, she suggested as part of the critique of your post, that you use "we" which means you include yourself in what you are saying.

Example:

You are all sinners.

We are all sinners.

The first is pointing at everyone and depending upon the rest of the post, may imply that you are not a sinner, having attained this ridiculous unscriptural "sinless perfection" which is unsound theologically.

The second includes you! And everyone else. And it accurately reflects the truth of the Bible.

It seems like you are extremely defensive about anyone having their own thoughts and posting them. I think you need to develop a much thicker skin, if you plan on staying. Plus, if someone consistently calls you out or pulls you down, then you can use the ignore button, and not see their posts. When I first came to CC I didn't do that. I got in a lot of arguments with people.

Now I use it on a number of people, and I can walk away feeling comfortable that I didn't stoop to fight. I also try very hard not to correct spelling and grammar anymore. Unless it really ruins the post. I realize some people are on a cell phone, and autocorrect can abduct words. I know other people have not been taught very well. I was a teacher, and found out that the basics are not really taught in most schools anymore. I think it is so sad, because we have a generation of teachers who were raised not knowing how to spell, do basic math or understand grammar, and they literally have nothing to pass onto this generation.

When I took Greek in Seminary, a lot of the younger men had to drop out. When we got to noun cases, it was hard for them to understand, because they had never had basic grammar. I studied German years ago, so it was easy to understand cases. I also was continually subjected to grammar teachers in English in Junior High, and in French in Senior High. So Greek was very easy for me to learn, and eventually Hebrew, too. Although Hebrew has quite different rules from English, they are still grammar rules.

I hope that explains it a bit!

Do you think when giving His word that God really cares about if their grammar is properly spelled or not ???

Your answer should be no because God used a lot of imperfect people to do His will, and even Moses was said in the bible to not be a very good speaker. Spelling words correctly does not commend us to God or make us less chosen to instruct in His word.
