I have said this many times. That we all need to spend time in the prayer forum. I go there, but certainly not as frequently as the BDF or the Family Forum. I do a lot of support and encouraging in the Family Forum, and many people are there asking for prayer, too.

I had a professor who was the chair of prayer at a big Seminary in Texas. He taught me lots about prayer, including getting me praying! When he retired a couple of years ago, no one wanted the Chair. No one wanted to initiate and encourage the students and staff to make prayer a ministry.

I think that is so sad, the way prayer is not considered an important ministry any more.

Jesus said,

"He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.” Matt. 21:13

I heartily encourage everyone to spend at least a couple hours a week in the prayer forum. Write down what you are praying for and then really pray for those people. And I might add - pray for more workers for the harvest!

"
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matt. 9:35-38
I will not presume what I do or don't do on the Prayer forum reflects on how other people do it. I will say I am overly empathetic. (Yes, there is an overly that's not necessarily a good thing. That's why I got out of social work early.) I ache for people. I often have no idea what to say to them, so I do take it to prayer. And, not just on the prayer forum. I do that often on and off this site. And I hold on to that ache to keep praying.

A man is in Rome right now with his dying 3 year old daughter because his wife/her mother always wanted to go see the pope. He talked about this weeks ago on this site.

A woman is coming to terms with finding out what she thought she wanted, she is too fearful to have -- her second child.

A woman is trying to find her place in life raising her kids two years after her husband died.

Another woman is frustrated because she thinks she's doing something wrong because she's not following God 24/7.

You, Angela, are in so much pain, you're at the end of your rope, and it doesn't look hopeful for relief.

A young man on here is passing out and so weary he doesn't know what to do. He had cancer before. He fears it's come back, and yet circumstances prevent him from going to the doctors right now, so he keeps struggling and knows God will work it out for his good. Might be God could get a doctor to tell him what's truly wrong but he's without that option.

All these things are happening to people on this site right now. The only one I saw in the Prayer forum request I mention was yours, Angela, but you are as open on here as I am, so I already knew what's going on. I had advice that might help. I can do nothing else but pray for you.

To assume anyone is just sitting back seems unfair. As talkative as I am, I don't always know what to say. (Honest, I'd give you the specific word God would have you hear, if he told me, instead of you what those words are. I'm in tears for you.) Fortunately, God is, and he doesn't need my correct words to understand what I mean, so who else is there to go with this stuff? I have no idea what others are doing.

The only thing I know for sure is the righteous one who started this thread hasn't responded to anything in the Prayer forum, (not to be confused with he hasn't prayed), but keeps on taking jabs at "everybody else", aka "you," even after he said he was done with this forum. (I'm still praying for him.)

Let him play games. He will anyway. But don't assume he's right simply because the Prayer Forum is quiet. I absolutely know someone or some people on here are still praying for "divine intervention" for my dad, simply because they promised to. So am I.

at,

very insightful, thank you, sister.

yes, we must learn not to assume or project - two very difficult habits that have to be broken
in order for us to truly see and hear others.

I just found a new section the prayer section. Theres a whole load of new brothers and sisters over there. How come I dont see many of my new found friends front the argumentitive section? Maby because its the section that they share the love of Jesus in instead of fighting like what happens in here. I knew something was wrong. Now I found what I am looking for. People moving and acting as one, just like the bible says. So what do we have ? We have the people who love to fight and force there OPINIONS in here. ANd we have people who care and do what were called to do over there. Guess were I am going cya. I will not be back here posting again. I am off were they love jesus and help the suffering.

Its just not edifing in here. I need built up not brought down.

You want to be built up? Then avoid the rest of the threads in this forum and come to the "Speak Your Mind" thread. It is by far the most edifying thread on the whole site. :)

Well, here is some irony. I went to the prayer forum to see what I could pray for, or encourage someone who was suffering.

I realized after about my 4th thread, that I had not seen the OP of this thread posting there. I checked a few more threads, and no posts about praying for the needs of people in that forum.

Or maybe he intends to do it later on?? I admit, I am very confused. Was this OP sincere, or was it just an opportunity to criticize and condemn people he hardly knows in the BDF??
Again, I'm overly empathetic. (I know. You weren't talking about me, and I don't feel rebuked. This is just me letting you see other possibilities of what's going on.) I made a prayer request last month. I know netiquette says I'm supposed to then go to other prayer requests and pray for them, but I was emotional drained and worried about Dad. (Still am... at least the worried part. God fills some of the drainness.) I couldn't. I couldn't because my heart was too low. I couldn't even go back to look for a little while to see if anyone responded. Then I could look at others.

Honestly? Some I can't answer, so I pray. Some are so wacky I don't know what to say. I have another prayer request, but I don't really want to get in it with people who automatically think every little thing is demonic activity of some kind, so I probably won't post it there.

People think BDF is odd. I think Prayer Forum might have this beat sometimes. And, yes, I see the sanity and the prayer warriors there too. Whew! Good thing! I'm not one. I pray, but I'm no warrior.

I always find it amusing when we get a negative post or thread complaining about how everybody else is negative ...

I do get fed up with the hit and run posts. But they happen in all the forums, and that is nothing new.

Sometimes I feel like I am the only person I know posting in that forum. I see people I know posting to pray for others but very few of the OPs are people I have seen before at CC.

Perhaps they google "Prayer Forum" and go there and no where else?

The ones I recognized don't usually come on to this forum, but they're always on the family forum giving a word of encouragement or actually praying for people. To me, they're the true heart of this site.
