I just found a new section the prayer section. Theres a whole load of new brothers and sisters over there. How come I dont see many of my new found friends front the argumentitive section? Maby because its the section that they share the love of Jesus in instead of fighting like what happens in here. I knew something was wrong. Now I found what I am looking for. People moving and acting as one, just like the bible says. So what do we have ? We have the people who love to fight and force there OPINIONS in here. ANd we have people who care and do what were called to do over there. Guess were I am going cya. I will not be back here posting again. I am off were they love jesus and help the suffering.

Its just not edifing in here. I need built up not brought down.

I'm sorry you're so angry, Stevie. I've been there, and there's nothing more wonderful than knowing God's peace. I hope His peace is upon you always.

Hey Stevie, I understand your frustration in these forums and I'm sorry but it is sort of like an initiation from what I can make of it after being here about 2 years. And I'm still not used to it. There is a group that hangs out together and are pals. If they like you, you will get the "likes" from them. If they don't... you get attacked, accused, shamed, belittled or ignored. Sometimes banned if your frustration level hits over drawn and you are not as good at veiled insults as they are and you post angry words. I've seen that happen to people too who were not expecting such a rough bunch of opinionated people and ended up defending themselves from an attack. I've not been banned but have seen some who have been. I really don't like when that happens to an unsuspecting new person.

It takes time to learn how to maneuver around on CC. I'm still learning. There are kind people here who don't follow the regulars who try to bend you into submission. I've made good Christian friends in spite of the meanies. I would not recommend "learning the ropes" just to fall in line with a few of the bullies here. They also have to learn that not every Christian is going to see the verses the same. Even some of the more seasoned believers who should know better are given to pettiness using words to diminish someone personally who just doesn't see a Bible verse or Bible doctrine the same as they do. It's just a fact of being around a bunch of different people on this type of venue I'm noticing.

But you are not alone in your observations. This is a rough place at times for sure. It's been teaching me to learn not to respond in kind. Although I am venting a bit here as I see yet 'another' young believer feeling the pressure to conform to the group. I'm much older than you and have felt what you have observed too. Having good intentions and high hopes only to be harshly judged and ridiculed for your beliefs as born again Christian. I'm really glad you found another section on CC where you fit in. Again, I've been here about 2 yrs or so and still don't know my way around and didn't realize just how many people are members and or visitors. If you can get passed this rough stuff, you will visit often and want to support the site. God bless your time here as you learn brother.

We are all at different places in our walk with the Lord. I remember being on the path thinking "man, I wish I was as Godly as that guy waaay up ahead of me on the path, but at least I'm not as far back as that dude who is doing fill in the blank!" The Lord has worked in me to accept who I am in Him and who others are in Him as well. Welcome to CC. Just like anywhere else you go in the world YOU get to pick and choose what to respond to and what to just leave alone and walk away.

I agree with you we should be spending MUCH more time in the prayer request forum, but neither should we be judging our brothers and sisters that freely choose to engage in other discussions.

I'm glad to read this. Maybe prayer will bring you around to building up, instead of tearing down. I'll pray for you.

Brother, I used to be hard on myself, but the Lord did for me what He did for you (blue letters).

John 14 brought me new found, eternal peace!

Now I need some help with the green letters. :)

not everyone prays for others and comforts others in public...you don't get to make that assumption about who here is helping the suffering...

I censored this a while ago to hide identities...

Now there are a few things I would like to address...
1, you don't need to comment or thumbs up for a prayer to work... All it takes is a righteous person...
2, its very very easy to post 16 times in a row on a topic when your friends are cracking jokes, and very hard to post on a topic when someone's family member is dying...
3, (I am personally very guilty of this) It is also very easy to get into a debate, or rant, or what ever in a political thread. Where you can post dozens of times, without noticing at all.

But the OP does have a point... The Prayer thread can get tossed to the side like a wet towel, a lot... (I am not saying it does or doesn't)
But I will be the first to admit it: I toss it aside A LOT.

Here is the picture, both threads were made in the same time... The prayer request thread if memory serves correctly only had like 17 views...
While the other thread had 161 replies.

However, as of right now, the prayer thread has over 70 views and some posts and a few likes.

That is just awful to do to someone. That is just really awful. But I suppose you have put a picture to what it feels like for those of us who dare to disagree with the group here. Again., that is an awful picture of rejection and doom.

Maybe that is the problem.. not everyone prays for others and comforts others in public but they have no problem shaming them in public.

I have said this many times. That we all need to spend time in the prayer forum. I go there, but certainly not as frequently as the BDF or the Family Forum. I do a lot of support and encouraging in the Family Forum, and many people are there asking for prayer, too.

I had a professor who was the chair of prayer at a big Seminary in Texas. He taught me lots about prayer, including getting me praying! When he retired a couple of years ago, no one wanted the Chair. No one wanted to initiate and encourage the students and staff to make prayer a ministry.

I think that is so sad, the way prayer is not considered an important ministry any more.

Jesus said,

"He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.” Matt. 21:13

I heartily encourage everyone to spend at least a couple hours a week in the prayer forum. Write down what you are praying for and then really pray for those people. And I might add - pray for more workers for the harvest!

"
And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.36 When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few;38 therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matt. 9:35-38

I might add, I frequently see posts by my friends from the BDF. Lots of people do care, they are just making a big spectacle out of it.

Well, here is some irony. I went to the prayer forum to see what I could pray for, or encourage someone who was suffering.

I realized after about my 4th thread, that I had not seen the OP of this thread posting there. I checked a few more threads, and no posts about praying for the needs of people in that forum.

Or maybe he intends to do it later on?? I admit, I am very confused. Was this OP sincere, or was it just an opportunity to criticize and condemn people he hardly knows in the BDF??

to be honest there are a few things that make me shy away from the prayer forum...

one is that a lot of 'prayer requests' are really disguised requests for advice by people who really need to be seeing a therapist or a marriage counselor or a real life pastor instead of seeking help on the internet...

another thing is that a lot of 'prayer requests' really just look a lot like people venting about their personal lives often with a heavy dose of 'too much information'...this is uncomfortable if you are the kind of person that doesn't want to get involved in everyone else's drama...or if your conscience is telling you that a lot of it is none of your business...or if gossip is a temptation you struggle with...

it is especially disconcerting when you have seen cases of trolls getting everyone's emotions and concerns astir over fabricated crises in the past...like it or not you always end up a bit more jaded after every time you see that happen...

finally there seems to be a lot more 'hit and run' posting in the prayer forum than elsewhere...which makes me wonder if a lot of the people posting prayer requests are even going to see the prayers or words of comfort that are posted for them...

someone is probably going to be judgmental about this and bite my head off and respond that this is a horrible attitude for me to have...but i can't just force myself to feel differently... it isn't like i don't care...i have just been through way too many experiences of caring in vain...

still i would actually love to have my mind changed about this...
