Notice our Lord's commandments from Matthew 23:8-10:

But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers.

Here the Greek for rabbi means "my master;" while the Greek for teacher means "instructor." Nevertheless, most Christians elevate their teaching ministers to positions of spiritual authority by calling them pastors, priests, chaplins, elders, and teachers.

Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven.

Nevertheless, Catholic Christians call their clergy "father."

Do not be called leaders; for One is your Leader, that is, Christ.

Here the Greek for leaders means guide, master or teacher. Nevertheless, most Christians consider their clergy specially called spiritual leaders whom oversee the church.

** * *

Now look at what Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:11:

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers

Here the Greek translated pastors is pronounced poimēn. And it specifically means a “shepherd.”

But look at what Jesus said in John10:16:

I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they will hear My voice; and they will become one flock with ONE shepherd.

Furthermore,we have already seen how in Matthew 23, Jesus said “for One is your Teacher.” So not only does most of Christianity disobey what Jesus taught, but the apostle Paul promoted such disobedience.

Question:So are Christians free to follow the instructions of Paul, and openly disobey what Jesus taught?

Are you serious? Because calling someone a pastor is far different from putting that title upon the person. Pastor Joe. Joe is a pastor. Two different things.

I believe a more pertinent question is: Was Jesus serious?

Apostle Paul did not promote disobedience for the rendering of Ephesians 4:11 is taken out of context.

What Paul was saying is that we can instruct others in the teachings of Christ, he was not teaching to disobey the command not to be called that.

Stating one's position in the faith is different then taking the credit for giving the teachings, and that is what the Lord was saying as well that we are to instruct others in His teachings but we are never to take credit for it ourselves. We have One Spiritual Teacher but what are to instruct others in those teachings.

It is only the untaught and unstable that twist and misuse Paul's words to contradict those of the Lords as Apostle Peter clearly stated in 2 Peter 3:16.

Apostle Peter and the other Apostles recognized Paul's standing in the faith so should we !!!

Well, I think Jesus agrees with the first part of your post:

Calling them to Himself, Jesus *said to them, "You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. "But it is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all (Mark 10:42-44).

According to Jesus Christ, the apostles had NO authority. ONLY Jesus has authority over the church.

Jesus was stating that we are to humble ourselves and to serve others, not be served !!!

In order to be first in the kingdom of heaven one must humble themselves and be servants of others here on earth, as He was speaking on servitude of a disciple.

Sorry, but Jesus was talking about authority...

Paul wrote that God places "shepherds" (plural) in the church. Jesus said that He is the ONLY shepherd.

"If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains."

So Paul taught against Jesus teachings?

Sorry, but Jesus was talking about authority...
He was not speaking authority being wrong in that passage, as notice he says will be least in the kingdom.
Which that means they will still be there as there are vessels for honor and dishonor......(2 Timothy 2:20)

Nowhere in that passage can you read that those who try to place themselves in authority in the church will not have eternal life coming to them. For there are different rewards for how one walks in the faith !!!

Paul wrote that God places "shepherds" (plural) in the church. Jesus said that He is the ONLY shepherd.

"If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains."

Once again you have to discern between one's position in the faith appointed to them by God through the Holy Spirit, and from one who uses the title to try and take credit for what the Lord our God does.

You pit one of Jesus' apostles who was inspired against Jesus.

You little hoodlum.

Yes, there are shepherds of local fellowships, and then there is the Shepherd, Christ, who is over all, and who watches over all. Do you suppose there is any chance that it is not that God’s word contradicts itself, but that there may be a gap in your own understanding?
