Did you know the first war that was ever fought is recorded to have taken place in the unlikelist place? The Bible tells us that "there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, and prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven" (Revelation 12:8-9). How did this war begin and what was it over? The answer to these questions reveals the reason behind the unrest plaguing planet earth, as well as the human heart.

The prophet Ezekiel gives us insight into this first war and Satan's rebellion against God. Lucifer, described as "the anointed cherub that covers," was "perfect" when he was created until "iniquity was found" in him (Ezekiel 28:14-15). The position of covering cherub (or angel) reveals much about Lucifer's rebellion. In the Old Testament, God had given Israel a miniature model of His throne in Heaven called the sanctuary (See Exodus 25:8). Paul's writes that the sanctuary was a pattern of blueprint of "heavenly things" (Hebrews 8:5). Inside was a special room called the most holy place which contained the Ark of the Covenant holding the Ten Commandments. On top of this ark was a "mercy seat" and on either side of the mercy seat was a "cherub" covering the mercy seat" and "covering the ark" (See Exodus 25:16-22; 1 Kings 8:7).

This shows that God's throne is a seat of mercy and the foundation of it, and His kingdom is His law. Lucifer, who was once a "covering cherub," was responsible to uphold and protect or "cover" this law. However, rebellion began because "iniquity" or sin was found in Lucifer. And what is sin? "Sin is the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4). Lucifer, who was supposed to defend the law of God, the very foundation of the government of heaven, rebelled against it. As a result, there was war in heaven.

But what was Lucifer's argument against the law? Notice another powerful insight into this controversy given by the prophet Isaiah. "How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, so of the morning...thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God...I will be like the most High" (Isaiah 14:12-14). Lucifer posed an argument that he could be "like God," that is, in righteousness, without a need to obey God's law. He thought he could determined himself what was right and what was wrong. In other words, Lucifer's rebellion was one based upon self-righteousness. He was arguing that the law was restrictive and that free intelligent angels needed no such rule. This argument deceived a great number of angels. These angels and Lucifer were cast out of Heaven, along with their anti-law sentiments.

With this insight we can better understand why earth and the human heart so often experience unrest. Satan today is a hater of the law of God, which is the foundation of God's government. God is seeking subjects for His kingdom, but they must be willing to abide by the laws of Heaven. The same is true for any government.

When Satan approached Adam and Eve in the garden, he tempted them with the same deception. You can be "like gods" without obeying him (Genesis 3:1-4). The same deception that led to the fall of angels in heaven, led to the fall of Adam and Eve in the garden, And just as angels were cast out of heaven, so Adam and Even were removed from the Garden of Eden. " So he drove out the man; and He placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubim, and a flaming sword which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life" (Genesis 3:23-24). Adam and Eve had their minds perverted by Satan. They now had a "carnal mind," of which Paul writes, "is death;... Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God" (Romans 8:7-8).

But God would not leave man to perish. He would send His Son into the world. Man would have a second chance. In order to enter the kingdom of heaven, man must once again be subject to its laws. So Paul writes, "Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will remember no more" (Hebrews 10:15-17).

All unrest on earth and in the human heart is a result of buying int Satan's lie that man need not obey the law of God or the the can be righteous without God's influence. Satan has gone as far as to push this lie under an appearance of righteousness; this is shown through professed Christians teaching that the law of God is obsolete, that grace somehow cancels the need to obey God's commandments. John warns against this deception of self-righteousness when he writes "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep His commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him" (1 John 2:3-4).

Satan is angry with those who do not fall for this deception. He goes "to make war wit the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ" (Revelation 12:17).

The Bible reveals how Satan will work to deceive people concerning the law of God. The prophet Daniel records Satan's attempt to "change...laws" (Daniel 7:25). Why? Because Satan knows that to disregard on commandment is to be guilty of breaking them all (James 2:10-12).

Indeed Satan has cunningly changed one of the Ten Commandments and few people seem to realize it. He has done this right from within the church. We encourage you to prayerfully read the Ten Commandments as recorded in Exodus 20 and try to discover which commandment has been replaced by the traditions of men. If Satan can lead Christians to disregard any of God's Commandments, he is in effect leading them to adhere to his own anti-law sentiments.

In the end there will be a people who withstand the devil's deceptions and prove themselves loyalist to the kingdom of Heaven. They will not deviate from God's law. The war ever fought was over the law of God. The last war on earth will be over the same. John writes of this victorious group. "Blessed are they that do His Commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city" (Revelation 22:14) May you be a part of that winning number.

The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd given his life for the sheep. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. . I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring; and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again. No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
John 10:10-18.

U are welcome brother the besttrees,

Here are some verses that prayerfully will assist u in understanding ur question.

(Isaiah 42:5; 44:24; Psalm 136:6; Ezekiel 1:22-26; 10:1).

(Genesis 1:6-8). (Genesis 1:14-18). (Genesis 7:11). (Deuteronomy 33:26; Psalm 57:10; Isaiah 45:8; Jeremiah 51:9; Psalm 36:6; 108:4).

(Isaiah 64:1).
It does not seal God off from His creation and His people. English translations use "firmament" (KJV), "expanse" (NASB, NIV), "dome" (TEV, NRSV, CEV), "space" (NLT), "air" (NCV), or "vault" REB) to translate the special Hebrew would describing what God created and named "Heaven" (Genesis 1:8). Hebrew does not employ a term for "air" or "space" between heaven and earth. This is all part of heaven.

Thus the Bible speaks of "birds of the heavens," though English translations often use "air" or "sky" (Deuteronomy 4:17; Jeremiah 8:7; Lamentation 4:19). Even Absalom hanging by his hair from a tree limb was "between heaven and earth" (2 Samuel 18:9; 1 Chronicles 21:16; Ezekiel 8:3). Heaven is God's treasure chest, storing treasures such as rain (Deuteronomy 28:12), wind and lighting (Jeremiah 10:13). The miraculous manna came from God's heavenly storehouses for Israel in the wilderness (Exodus 16:11-15).

Heaven is a channel of communication between God and humans (Genesis 28:12; 2 Samuel 22:10; Nehemiah 9:13; Psalm 144:5). Unlike neighboring nations, Israel knew heaven and the heavenly bodies were not gods and did not deserve worship (Exodus 20:4). Heaven is not eternal (Job 14:12; Isaiah 34:4; 51:6). A new heaven and new earth will appear (Isaiah 65:17; 66:22)

Other than Paul's reference to the three heavens (2 Corinthians 12:2-4), biblical writers spoke of only one heaven. Jesus preached that the kingdom of heaven/God had dawned through His presence and ministry (Mark 1:15). Jesus promised a heavenly home for His followers (John 14:2-3; 2 Corinthians 5:1-2). Heaven is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). The Holy Spirit is the pledge of the believer's participation in heaven (2 Corinthians 5:5). The image of a messianic banquet reveals heavenly life as a time of joy, celebration, and fellowship with God (Mathew 26:29). There will be no marrying or giving in marriage in heaven (Luke 20:34-36)). Christians should rejoice because their names are written in heaven (Luke 10:20). Christ is seated in heaven at the right hand of God (Ephesians 1:20). Heaven is where the believer's inheritance is kept with care until the revelation of the Messiah (1 Peter 1:4)

In Revelation 21:1-22:5, heaven is portrayed as: (1) the tabernacle (21:1-8). (2) the city (21:9-27), and (3) the garden (22:1-5), that is, as perfect fellowship with God, perfect protection, and perfect provision.

Brother thebesttress, I pray this give you clarity about where and what heaven is.

Not Guilty is not the same as Innocent. So if Stealing is Not a good witness, should we automatically conclude Stealing is a bad witness?

Forgive me for saying this. But as your answer is too long, let me ask you more refined questions (one at a time) which hopefully will reduce the size of your response and allow for more timely discussion. here is the question:

Is heaven above us?

If this war took place before Adam and Eve and He was cast out and his place found NO MORE in heaven then how did he go before God in the book of Job? It is possible that this war is yet future as the final assault by Satan to over throw heaven!

Where is heaven? Google maps! No. Just kidding.

Heaven, the actual abode of God, more of a realm. A state of being. Not like a place. But a state of existing in the very presence of God (indicating a place, I see that.)

No satellite we send out into space will ever find or reach or see heaven. Not the heaven I think you have in mind.

Why? Because that heaven exists out of this material realm.

Just some personal thoughts.

The phrase his place found no more in Heaven may refer to his position for which he was created.

I think it more likely that God wasn't in Heaven when Satan spoke with him.

The letter kills but the spirit gives life

I have found those who most stress the need to observe the literal letter have the most problem obeying the higher points of the law-as they did in Jesus day.
Indeed, a particular branch of people come to mind as I write this

The yeast of the Pharisees was hypocrisy according to Christ

They did not practice what they preached-demanded of others

I know a seventh day Adventist. She insists you go to church on a Saturday, tithes her money, avoids unclean foods and has prayer and worship time with her children each evening.
She also has many affairs with a variety of men at the same time she stresses the law of God must be obeyed. To those who in Jesus day stressed earnestly the literal letter of the law must be fully obeyed, Jesus refered to such people as being full of hypocrisy, wickedness and everything unclean on the inside.
They cleaned the outside of the cup but.....
Nothing has changed in 2000 years for truth cannot change

Thank you for this share. I am trying to figure out from the Bible where heaven is. Where does the Bible tell us heaven is?

Nowhere that you can spot it or map it. It is outside the physical universe. It is a purely spiritual place. Once we are in Christ we are in Heaven with Him (Eph 2.5-6; Col 3.1-3) whilst still living on earth.

There is absolutely nothing but vivid imagination which links Ezek 28 with Satan. Ezekiel was describing the exalted belief in himself of the King of Tyre. The Phoenician Temples were garden temples and he visualised himself in the terms described. Any application to Satan is purely unwarranted and the result of a fevered imagination.

Remember Tyre had good knowledge of the content of the Jerusalem Temple. THEY BUILT IT.

We can base no speculations about the fall of Satan on these verses.

Forgive me for saying this. But as your answer is too long, let me ask you more refined questions (one at a time) which hopefully will reduce the size of your response and allow for more timely discussion. here is the question:

Is heaven above us?
ha! ha! ha! That is funny. Tell you why. Asking RememberTheSabbathDay to answer "Is heaven above us?" is not so wise. Unless you've got time.

For not only is the subject-heaven-eternal, but you can rest (there's your Sabbath) assure the answer will be as well, eternal.

Some people believe that the war in Revelation chapter 12 between Michael and his angels, and the dragon and his angels, already occured before God created the earth, and Adam and Eve.

I do not believe this is true.

When the dragon and his angels lose that battle, then the dragon makes war against everyone that holds the testimony of Jesus Christ.

John was writing of things that would happen in the future,so I believe the war in Revelation 12 is a future event.

There is other things to indicate that this war could not of happened before creation, but I might write about it later.

The Bible refers to God dwelling in the 3rd heaven, but of course the heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain God,but it is saying that God rules on high.

The clouds above us would be considered heaven. The Bible says the ordinances of heaven shall dissolve, like the stars, and such things that are created that we can see,and some we cannot see.

The Bible says Satan is the prince of the power of the air, which Satan probably can access both the first and second heaven.

I believe the 6 trumpets are 6 disasters that occur on earth that the world knows about, but instead of turning to God in the truth, and asking Him for guidance to obtain peace on earth, and to solve the problems, they keep trying to solve their own problems without the guidance of God in the truth, which will result in the beast kingdom.

An example is WW1,and WW2.After WW1 instead of turning to God in the truth, they started the League of Religions, and League of Nations,to try to get the nations to cooperate to stop fighting, and have peace, and the same pattern occured after WW2,with the United Nations, and then later came the United Religions.

After the 6th trumpet God said that people will still not repent of their sins, which means they will not turn to God in the truth, and relying on Him to solve the problems on earth, and stop the fighting, and obtain peace, but they keep on trying to solve their own problems, and stop the fighting by their own efforts,so that is when God gives them the man of sin to rule over them, because God is going let them have their way, which after the the 6th trumpet, which is the worse war ever, and the most casualities ever, the one world government failed to solve the problems and put an end to fighting,so the world turns to the man of sin to rule over them.

After the 6th trumpet,God will give the world their way and let the man of sin rule over them, because they will not turn to God but want to solve their problems, and have peace by their own efforts.

After the 6th trumpet that is when war will break out in heaven, but not the heaven that Lucifer was kicked out of before creation, and Michael and his angels will defeat the dragon and his angels, which then the devils are cast to earth, which the earth becomes their holding cell, which the Bible says the earth has become the habitation of devils.

Satan is no more the prince of the power of the air,but the devils are confined to the earth and cannot roam as in time past, and they deceive all people who do not love God to follow the beast kingdom, which is the strong delusion God will send them, and the dragon persecutes all people that are with Jesus.

Satan will appear as the beast, the man of sin, which the Bible says the man of sin's power shall be mighty, but not by his own power, and deceives all people who do not love God to take the mark, and cause them to be lost spiritually, and all who do not take the mark,he will use the world to destroy them physically, which the Bible say by peace he shall destroy many, and he shall destroy wonderfully, and destroy the holy and mighty people, which are the saints(physically).

I do not believe that the war in Revelation 12 is when Lucifer was kicked out before creation, but refers to a war that will occur because the world is trying to solve their problems by their own efforts, and not viewing God as a personal God,but an impersonal God,which comes from the new age movement,so God gives them their way and lets the man of sin rule over them, which the new age movement want him to appear.

When the war happens in Revelation 12,the devils are cast to earth, and are confined to the earth, but when Lucifer and the angels that followed him,was kicked out of heaven before creation, the devils were not cast to earth as their holding cell, but they had access to the air above them.

Not Guilty is not the same as Innocent. So if Stealing is Not a good witness, should we automatically conclude Stealing is a bad witness?

The OP copy pasted her article from the tract link that atwhatcost posted. As long as it's still copyrighted, it IS stealing from the original author.

This statement totally makes absolutely no sense..
