When Jesus prayed in the garden he wasn't praying because of the pain and torture he would endure, but it was the separation from the father that troubled him.
God can not look on sin. Jesus became sin. When Jesus spoke "my God my God why have you forsaken me " he was referring to the 22 psalm and it's fulfillment.
Not to take away anything from that dreadful and glorious day that no other could endure or be worthy of but as we take the example of Jesus he had no will of his own his will was to do the will of the father.

I always heard god turned away because he can't look on sin. That may be true but the Lord recently told me something else as well. Just think of our complete exchange with Jesus. He paid for our sins. We gained his righteousness. He died in our place. God looks at us just like we died with him.

The Lord told me that he turned away from Jesus, forsook him on the cross, so that justly he would never have to turn away from us and would never forsake us! That's the price Jesus paid! Praise God!

I use my weakest moments, which are pretty much 24/7 by the way, as reminders that "apart from Him, I can do nothing". God gives grace to the lowly/humble. Our weakest moments aren't the real problem. It's when we think that we're strong enough or wise enough in and of ourselves that the problem truly exists. We literally cannot even take another breath apart from Him.

This comes into my mind during my weakest moments:

"What happens when science without doubt be able to prove that we came from one cell organism and evolved into human beings? That the story of creation in Genesis was just a pigment of imagination of someone?
"

during moments of weakness, question one of the very foundations our faith. And if so, what is yours?
sounds like you and i have similar weakest moments. :)

the sin of unbelief.

failing to believe all God has spoken to us in His Word.
failing to believe He will faithfully keep every one of His Promises to His people.

when i am confronted with this i try to remember HE is the Faithful One and i am called to trust and obey Him.
not saying it's always easy, but practice helps. :)

I often think I just cannot wait to be out of this world. I don't want to be here.

Other times I just feel hopeless, I'm a fat ugly old lady with no future I can see, what difference does it make.

I have to try to focus on how God sees me, and that I have not gone through what I have all alone. He loves me no matter what others say or what I see in the mirror, and the only way I have any future is because of Him.

I know. This place is one big ugly troubled world. How Blessed are we that we have a place prepared just for us to look forward to.

I don't mean in this way. I'll give you an example. Suppose the thought comes that you have done something and God has forsaken you. You take the thought when you start voicing, asking God why he has forsaken you, and when you start telling people that God has forsaken you.

What I'm saying is to just rebuke a thought like that and replace it with the truth. Start saying that God said he would never leave you or forsake you. The same applies to many situations. I might experience a pain and Satan puts the thought in my mind that I might have cancer. I don't go around saying I might have cancer. I replace that thought with his words that proclaim my healing like 1 Peter 2:24 instead.
Someone taught us (hubby and me) a couple of decades ago that we cannot control our thoughts, but we can control whether to let them nest. A thought flutters in, but it only nest if we give heed to it.

But, as for physical pain? You either have it or don't. And if you have it, it is either God's will to heal you or it isn't. If you have pain, go to a doctor. You can't know what you're fighting until you know what it is. Not good advice to ignore pain, unless there is no other choice.

You still aren't going through what you are going through alone. And you're still here because he has more work to do in you AND you have more help to offer others and more of God's glory here to see. The world may well see us as fat, old, and worthless, until God shows himself through us. Then some see something we don't always see in ourselves.

Remember, it ain't over until the fat lady sings! The fat lady has purpose until the very end. (And God help us all if the last thing I do is sing. lol)

IN MY WEAKEST AND DARKEST MOMENT, THE SCRIPTURES, "ALL THINGS WORK TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF THOSE THAT LOVE THE LORD AND ARE CALLED ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE" AND "NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST ME SHALL PROSPER" COMES TO MIND. THESE SCRIPTURES ASSURE ME THAT GOD PROPHETICALLY ALLOWS THINGS TO HAPPEN IN ORDER TO TEST OUR FAITH, MOLD US, AND SHOW US HIS GLORY THROUGH THE OUTCOME.

I love this. Thought we can not control but letting it develop is our choice.

Whenever I use that verse, "all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord", it comes back to me this way, " if you love the Lord you wont be in this mess". Does it happen to you?

Yes. So very true. I like the way you worded this. I really do. It reminds me of how I feel. So much wisdom is to be found in many of the old people among us. But who wants to listen to old people!? Anyways, atwhatcost, I like what you wrote. I do.

Singing? Fingernails slowly scratching a chalkboard sound more pleasant than my tune.

WE ARE AUTOMATICALLY GOING TO GET IN SITUATIONS WHETHER WE BRING IT ON OURSELVES OR IT JUST HAPPENS. THAT SCRIPTURE JUST REMINDS ME THAT THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY HAVE TO WORK TO TOGETHER FOR MY GOOD. I MUST LEARN FROM THE LESSON AND MOVE ON. IF NOT, THEN GOD WILL PUT ME THROUGH THAT SAME EXPERIENCE UNTIL I GET IT RIGHT, TRUST HIM, AND LEARN THE LESSON. WE ALL FALL. IT DOESN'T MEAN WE DON'T LOVE GOD. IT MEANS THAT WE ARE HUMAN. WE HAVE TO CONSIDER THAT IT'S NOT ABOUT THE FALL BUT HOW WE GET UP. GOD IS AT THE CENTER OF OUR CIRCUMSTANCES. WE HAVE TO LOOK UP INSTEAD OF LOOKING AROUND AT THE PROBLEM OR MESS.

You know I understand and love what you're trying to say but it sometimes put me in conceit mode. If I make good, I say I am blessed because I love Him. If I'm in a mess, I tell myself, hang in there, trust God. He is molding me. What happens if I am in a mess because I made a wrong choice and the mess is the consequence of the sin I just committed? Conceit will not make me realize that I need to change.

THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE IS LEARN FROM THE MISTAKE... GOD HAS A WAY OF CONVICTING US OF OUR MISTAKES. WE HAVE THE CHOICE TO CHANGE THROUGH OUR CONSEQUENCES. HIS WORD SAYS, "HE CHASTENS THOSE HE LOVES." I'VE MADE MANY MISTAKES. WHAT MADE ME CHANGE WAS THAT I GOT SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED. I WAS OUT OF HIS WILL THINKING HE DIDN'T LOVE ME BECAUSE OF MY SINS..BUT GOD!!! I WAS SO WRONG!! THE THINGS THAT COULD HAVE TAKEN ME OUT DIDN'T. HE WAS ALWAYS THERE. YES I HAD TO GO THROUGH THE REPERCUSSIONS BUT IT WAS WORTH IT BECAUSE I BEGAN TO SEE A CHANGE IN MYSELF AND SO DID OTHERS. I LET GOD TAKE THE WHEEL AND I TOOK THE BACK SEAT. HIS MERCY IS WHAT CHANGED ME. AS I BEGAN TO LEARN THE LESSONS, HE BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION EVERYTHING WE GO THROUGH IS NOT ABOUT US. IT'S ABOUT OTHERS!!! HOW CAN YOU HAVE A TESTIMONY WITHOUT A TEST?

I am not lost. Please spare me of strength-giving verses or good words of advice. I am fine. Thank you for your concern. I am more interested to know if there are people like me, during moments of weakness, question one of the very foundations our faith. And if so, what is yours?

I think this is Christ's weakest moment.

Matthew 26:39(NKJV)
39 He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”
Let me reassure you that you should worry no more about science, the more it studies the simple cell, the more they are learning about how utterly complex the so-called "simple" cell is! Science keeps getting deeper and deeper into life, and the layers of complexity increase.

As as far as my weakest moment, well there are all kinds of things that make me weak! But that is a great opportunity for God to work!

"But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong." 2 Cor. 12:9-10

I'm actually growing better everyday. Some days are better then others. Depending on what area I'm showing weakness I can have many reactions. But GOD always makes me become aware that HE is in control. I don't always grab hold quickly nor do I want to at times.

The Scripture that sticks out to me is 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

I don't recall CHRIST having a weak moment. The verse you mentioned always grabs my heart. So much Passion is there. Notice that JESUS was always telling of laying down HIS LIFE for us. This Scripture entails that we to must suffer and how we are to handle it. Go before the FATHER with an urgency, ask others to Pray for us, go before the FATHER until Strengthened and always seek GOD's Will before our own.

It seems here that CHRST was weak when we observe the Scripture, but once we see through the eyes of GOD we understand the plea in HIS Words, the expression of anguish of the flesh (sweat/blood). Knowing HE would be separated from the FATHER was very troubling. We too should be troubled of being separated from the FATHER.

Blessings!!!!!!!
