How many of you bring your own Bible to Church Service?

I've noticed for awhile now that less and less people bring their own Bible to Church. I know there are some Church's have Bibles under the chairs so they are available. I was at my sisters Church this last weekend and really didn't see anyone with a bible. A few people had tablets with them so I'm guessing they used the Bible on that. There were no Bibles under the chairs. I usually bring my Bible every Sunday so I can take notes and also check what the pastor is saying.

So just curious if this is the norm these days or do most of you see something different.

Almost everyone at our church uses their phones. I use a Kindle Fire. The preacher uses a tablet. My wife prefers her NIV hard copy.

well, I go to a large church, and they put the verses up on a large screen. I brought my Bible for a while, but then I did stop because I spent more times looking up and reading the screens than I did my Bible.

We have two screens also. But I often want to see the verses in different versions than Chris picks

We is a bible church so we brings our bibles to church. Mine is now on my tablet so I take notes electronically now which is really different but we use our bibles at church 'cause the preacher preaches from the bible.

Wore out my old paper bible so now I have an electronic one actually two one on the phone but never have been ashamed to carry a bible in church. Never felt it a burden to carry a bible in church.

For the cause of Christ

Most of my congregation still use their bibles. However, the younger folks including myself use phones and tablets at times. Its annoying when technology freezes or battery goes dead and shutdown. That never happens when you have the good book

i use an electronic as well, its just more compact. but i bring both:rolleyes: i use my bible for sunday school and my electronic for service. why you ask? sounds silly i know, but i know myself, if i have my bible out in service, i tend to go off on a study or reviewing highlights or notes in my bible and not pay attention to the preacher. but i will just use my electronic just to look and then put down. odd? probably, but it works for me!

Some years ago I was using my phone whiling serving (most time I preferred Hardcopy, but I was serving as transltor, I used phone to make it quick). And a guy was so angry he stood up pointing his finger at me and said something like I shouldnt play with phone while serving (I guess he didnt know there was bible app on phone. ) since then Ive been more careful, never used phone while serving.

I quit bringing mine because there are so many translations that it's pointless to try to follow what is being read, or have everybody read out loud together. Churches that have Bibles in the pews each use a different translation.

You should have educated him........... :)

Something like............"Hey, Mr. Condemnation, ever heard of a BIBLE APP?"

Dunno, having read many, many comments on this Forum, and given the interpretations of Scripture posted, not so sure that even when using the "hard copy," battery (brain) freeze appears to be not all that unusual..... (oh, wait, did I say that out loud?.........oops)

As he publicly judged you before the congregation, he should have publically apologized to you before the congregation. But I'm glad you are ok with all of this now.

On this note: How many of you using electronic devices ever think to <REVERSE> the background colors so that you are not glaringly disturbing those around you (especially behind you) with that bright, white screen shining out so distractingly?

Now you know how athletes feel when fans yell at them for a foul or fumble. Fans in the stands do a lot of shouting. They sit, observe, judge, and shout. That's it.

So you continue to run the race for the Lord. Ignore the critics in the stands, the benchwarmers.

I've been watching Joel Osteen off and on for a while, and have found that a bible isn't really necessary because he never reads from it. :)

This is kind of cheaply insulting. He quotes Scripture all the time, and it is even on the screen for you to read along as he talks. Knock anyone you feel you need to... but at least do it honestly.
