I've heard some people voice their opinion that the thrid Temple will be like the tabernacle of David or what is referred to as the Tabernacle of moses in the wilderness.

From the looks of this picture the Jews have some pretty grand ambitions for the third Temple.

Even if they build it, God will not be there.
He was through with Temple worship when Jesus died on the cross and rose the third day.

What they want to do and what actually gets done can be two entirely different things with two different outcomes..... ;)

"Woman," Jesus replied, "believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem...

"Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks."

Actually, if another temple was somehow built (meaning tearing down the Dome of the Rock - a sacred Muslim mosque!) it would technically be the 4th temple.

1 - Solomon's Temple -Razed by the Babylonians in 586 BC
2 - Post-exilic Temple built by Nehemiah and Ezra - torn down by Herod to build his temple (?)
3 - Herod's temple - this was the one that the Romans raised to the ground in 70 AD when they dispersed the Jews and conquered Jerusalem.

So any new temple built on Mt Moriah, or whatever you want to call the site where David brought back the Ark of the Covenant would be a FOURTH Temple.

Not sure if I see a 4th temple prophesied anywhere in the Bible. You can correct me if I am wrong. In other words, the Jews can do what they want, but it won't be a temple inspired by God!

Actually Herod did not tear down the second temple completely, as what he did was remodel it and extend it out further making it bigger.

As for another temple this should not even be disputed among believers but it is, for Ezekiel and Revelation 11 both show future temples in Jerusalem. The one in Revelation 11 even mentions leaving off the outer court because if was given over to the Gentiles to trample underfoot for 42 months.

By doing this it would leave plenty of room for the Dome of the Rock to still stand side by side in a shared arrangement, hince why a treaty would need to be signed.

I think this is pertaining to true believers in Jesus not the Jews that are still in unbelief.

The Jews will rebuild their third temple and go back to animal sacrifices, which the man of sin will step in to their temple, and tell them to stop animal sacrifices and that he is their Messiah, but they need a red heifer, with no white hairs to purify the temple, and vessels, before they can start animal sacrifices.

[SUP]2 [/SUP]This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red heifer without spot, wherein is no blemish, and upon which never came yoke.
[SUP]9 [/SUP]And a man that is clean shall gather up the ashes of the heifer, and lay them up without the camp in a clean place, and it shall be kept for the congregation of the children of Israel for a water of separation: it is a purification for sin(Leviticus 19:1-10).

Yea, he magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary was cast down.

And an host was given him against the daily sacrifice by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered.
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot(Daniel 8:11-13).

[SUP]27 [/SUP]And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate(Daniel 9:27).

And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate(Daniel 11:31).

And from the time that the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be a thousand two hundred and ninety days(Daniel 12:11).
[SUP]
13 [/SUP]But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

[SUP]14 [/SUP]And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
[SUP]15 [/SUP]When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains(Matthew 24:13-16).

Jesus was telling the disciples what would occur at the end time, which this will happen in the middle of the tribulation, that when the Jews see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, which is when the man of sin enters the Jews temple, and tells them to stop animal sacrifices, that they are to run like the dickens, which at this time they will realize that Jesus is their Messiah,by the two witnesses that God sends them, which it looks as if they are sent during the first half of the tribulation.

Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
[SUP]2 [/SUP]That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God(2 Thessalonians 2:1-4).

Google the temple institute....they have bred a red heifer for sacrifice........

I've heard some people voice their opinion that the thrid Temple will be like the tabernacle of David or what is referred to as the Tabernacle of moses in the wilderness.

From the looks of this picture the Jews have some pretty grand ambitions for the third Temple.
This is how I see prophesy panning out. Seventy 'sevens' were decreed upon Israel and the their holy city Jerusalem and Sixty-nine of those 'sevens' were completed when the Anointed One was cut off (Christ crucified). At that time God left off with the program of Israel and began to build his church, which is still in progress. Once the church has been completed the dead in Christ will be resurrected and the living will be changed and caught up to meet Christ in the air and will be taken back to the Father's house.

Sometime after that, the ruler will make his covenant with many for that last 'seven' in fulfillment of that seventy 'sevens'. Since Islam is waiting for their twelfth Imam and Israel is still waiting for their Messiah to show up, this man of lawlessness will appease both sides as Imam and Messiah, allowing Israel to build their temple on the original temple site. I believe that in Revelation 11:1-2 when John is told not to measure the outer court because it has been given over to the Gentiles, that it will be Islam's Dome of the Rock that will end up being in the outer court. And of course we all know that in the middle of the 'seven' is where he causes the offerings and the sacrifices to cease and is when he sets up that abomination in the holy place and proclaims himself to be God or anything that is called God or worshiped.

The event of the setting up of the abomination causes the desolation of Jerusalem which is where they flee into the desert to that place prepared for them by God as mention in Mt.24:15-22 and Rev.12:6, 14 where they are protected until Christ returns 3 1/2 years later. During that last 3 1/2 years is also the same time period that the beast will make war and conquer the great tribulation saints (Rev.13:5-7).

While all this is going on, the seals, trumpets and bowl judgments will have been running parallel, decimating the population of the earth and dismantling human government in preparation for Christ's millennial kingdom.

Josephus tells us he removed Zerubbabel's temple to include it's foundation. In other words, he took down the temple and rebuilt another one.

Ant. 15.11.2. And this was the speech which Herod made to them; but still this speech aftrighted many of the people, as being unexpected by them; and because it seemed incredible, it did not encourage them, but put a damp upon them, for they were afraid that he would pull down the whole edifice, and not be able to bring his intentions to perfection for its rebuilding; and this danger appeared to them to be very great, and the vastness of the undertaking to be such as could hardly be accomplished. But while they were in this disposition, the king encouraged them, and told them he would not pull down their temple till all things were gotten ready for building it up entirely again. And as he promised them this beforehand, so he did not break his word with them, but got ready a thousand waggons, that were to bring stones for the building, and chose out ten thousand of the most skillful workmen, and bought a thousand sacerdotal garments for as many of the priests, and had some of them taught the arts of stone-cutters, and others of carpenters, and then began to build; but this not till every thing was well prepared for the work.

3. So Herod took away the old foundations, and laid others, and erected the temple upon them,
