I am trying to give my life to God. I have repented quite a few times. But when I face the same temptations I give in. How can I overcome this and live holy in Gods will. I really want to do the right things but my flesh is weak. Any helpful ideas?

First, it is important to realize that you are unable to, and not expected to do it in your own strength.

The first step is to acknowledge your sin; which you seem to have done.
The next step, repentance, means adopting an attitude of genuine desire to please God with your life.

The next step is accepting the fact that Jesus, who was (is) God in human form paid the penalty for your sin to be able to offer you forgiveness.

The next step is to acknowledge Jesus as Lord (owner) of your life. He purchased you with His blood when He paid for your sin(s).

When you do this, the Holy Spirit comes to live in you, and to help you desire and to do what is pleasing to God.

I'm also a sinner my brethren

hope this verse will help you to realize the importance behind the sinners
Who always wanted to be with the lord god who is good and who doesn't lie

Luke: 22. 24. And there was also a strife amongst them, which of them should seem to be the greater.
25. And he said to them: The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that have power over them, are called beneficent.
26. But you not so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is the leader, as he that serveth.
27. For which is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serveth? Is it not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you, as he that serveth:
28. And you are they who have continued with me in my temptations:
29. And I dispose to you, as my Father hath disposed to me, a kingdom;
30. That you may eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom: and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

THIS ARE THE WORDS OF OUR LORD CHRIST JESUS
THAT HE SPEAK UNTO HIS DISCIPLES.

AND THERE IS A WISDOM HIDDEN FROM THIS VERSE :ty:

Thank you MarcR for your reply I have repented several times and I know Jesus died and paid for my sins. The next thing is to accept and acknowledge Jesus as Lord of my life. After this is completed. Then how and what can I do when I'm facing sin and temptations so I can escape without failing. How do I know if I have the holy spirit in me?

When you have accepted Jesus as Lord (OWNER) of your life will come to live in you; and He will do everything necessary to bring you into right relationship and fellowship with God. He will also take away your desire to sin and enable you to resist sin. You will still have lapses; but if you ask Jesus to forgive you and help you; your lapses will become fewer and fewer.

You will know you have the holy spirit if God is on your mind 24 7
Also if you feel bad about sin and try not to sin you are alive with Christ. BUT if you can't stop I recommend to be baptized be born again.
Born again so you will be alive with Christ and dead to sin. Baptism will not save you but faith in Jesus Christ payment at the cross will.
Confess and strive for success until the end.

Born again twice. Dead once. Alive with Christ! Much love and may The Lord be with you! Strive for success!!! Be sure that you know right and wrong build up in the spirit.

Paul, who wrote the majority of the New Testament, said about himself "I do what I do not want to do". Living as a Christian is to strive for holiness, while living in a body that strives for sinfulness. It is a never ending struggle until the day we die or are raptured.
We have the choice to feed our flesh or our spirit. Feeding the flesh is done by putting things into your mind and heart that are sinful. Be it through movies, music, books, or even the friends or activities you choose for yourself. To feed our spirit is firstly through reading the bible. This helps renew our minds. Also staying in prayer with God. Prayer isn't always telling Gid your laundry list of friends and family to pray for. It's also about communing and conversing with God. Chatting with Him throughout your day. Or even a quick thank you. Worship is another great tool as well.
As the old saying goes, garbage in garbage out.
Just learn more about God. Not only His works and His commands but His character, His personality, so to speak.

Thank you for your reply please help me understand the passage you provided. I don't think I am understanding it correctly. It's better to be a servant than the one that is served. And by temptations we will receive a kingdom?

Hello Sinner407,

The good news is that, the fact that you are grieving about your acts of the sinful nature demonstrates that the Spirit of God dwells in you. You are not the lone ranger here, as we have all gone through and go through this same problem, some more, some less. Paul talks about the same problem that we have as believers regarding the sinful nature as can be seen in the following scripture:

"We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

If we expose ourselves to the things of the flesh such as, partying, drunkenness, sexual opportunities, etc., etc., then it makes it pretty much impossible to keep our bodies under control and walking in the Spirit. I speak from experience, for I had a problem abstaining from sexual immorality for many years of my life and sexual immorality leads to other sins. Though I was fulfilling the desires of my flesh, I was very grieved in my spirit and it was tearing me apart! One day I prayed to God and said, "Either this sin is eventually going to kill me or you are going to help me to break free of this." I was determined to break away from that pattern of life once and for all. To do so, I had to cut myself off from dating and relationships, because it just provided temptation and so I had to remove all the obstacles of temptation and keep a close watch on myself. I also continued in prayer regarding that same issue.

One important thing to do is, when you fail and commit the same sin or any sin, go immediately to God in prayer and confess it and repent. No matter how many times you fall and how badly you feel, go directly to God. You see when we sin, Satan and the powers of darkness will whisper in our spiritual ears telling us that we are unworthy to go ask forgiveness, because of all the times we continue to commit the same sins over and over again. They want you to remain in sin and for you to give up. When Peter asked Jesus, "Lord, how many times should I forgive my brother when sins against me in a day, up to seven times?" and Jesus said, "I say not up to seven times, but seventy times seven. As often as your brother sins against you and comes to you asking for forgiveness, forgive him. This is the Lord's attitude towards us. Now I'm not saying this as a license to sin, for the Lord knows if we are serious or not, but continue to go to God the Father in the name Jesus as often as you commit the same sin or any sin.

If you are serious about removing those sins from your life, remember, he is the One who searches our hearts and minds, so he knows whether you are serious or not. And if you are, he will give you the strength and will help you escape from that pattern of life. Regarding the flesh and the spirit, Scripture also says the following:

"So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. " (Gal.5:17)

Before we came to Christ we only had one nature, the sinful nature. But after we received Christ, we now have another nature, the new man in Christ. The flesh and the spirit (new man in Christ) can be compared to two military men who are on opposite sides and are dug down into their fox holes and are fighting it out. After we come to Christ, the idea is that as we continue going from faith to faith throughout our lives. As we continue going from faith to faith, the nature of God, his attributes, are being imputed to us and the old nature is being displaced so that we are being transformed into his image.

I hope that this provides some answers and comfort to you.

Don't worry, I couldn't find any relevance either.
But it is true, Gods ways are backwards from the worlds. 'The least among you shall be greatest'.
'I will use the foolish things of this world to confound the wise'.

We will crash and burn everytime we try to be sinless.
This will fix when Jesus Christ returns. For now maintain faith you will never sin until he returns (state of mind). Know also that God knows we are imperfect which is part of why Paul speaks of the flesh (body) and spirit fighting itself.
Meaning you indeed have the holy spirit.
You indeed see the error of your own sin.
Keep relying on the cross and what Jesus Christ did. It pays past present and future sins.
But beware because willfull sin after acknowledging the cross will strip your salvation.
But sinning because of imperfection like lust or addiction is normal just confess it to the Lord Jesus Christ and he will forgive you as said in scripture. Until Jesus Christ returns we all have imperfect fleshy nature but never give into it for pleasure etc.
your saved by grace. But don't ever think sinning is okay. This I said is in scripture don't worry go ahead and compare.

From the look of it your saved but remember to not give into it. Try different things to lose it's grip on you. Bless you in The Lords name.

Christianity isn't about stopping sinning it's about knowing God intimately. God will take care of the sinning part. :)

This is what kept me rotating in and out of church, because I was suppose to be good and not sin, but yet I sinned and felt guilty. I finally cried out to God in despair and said Lord I'm not good enough and I'm never going to be good enough and He said you are right. But Darlene that is why I sent my Son Jesus to die for your sins because when you come to me and ask for forgiveness I no longer look at the wrongs you have committed but I see the perfect life of my Son Jesus as His blood covers your sins when you repent and accept Him as your Savior.

So we are justified by the blood of Jesus and we ask God to put the Holy Spirit in our hearts and it is no longer our life but Jesus living in us. I hope I have helped a little... God explained it to me and I said it is just that simple and He said yes. Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.

Let us get real here. Sin comes in many forms. Sin is the action, but the power behind it is the context and desires. God changes our context and our desires so the power is removed. By working on walking in love and truth with the Lord, things become less important and influential. What you will discover is that sin is merely the top of a whole series of issues and things that take time to resolve and change. Until they are, falling easily into temptation will be an often experience.

You could say the reason why Jesus had to die for our sins is because the issues are so difficult and impossible, and needs to be taken seriously for a life time of dedication and change. Welcome to the Kingdom of God.

Start by changing your name from sinner to saint.
