So I read something about american churches that embrace the 'LGBTQ community.' Those churches show their love of gays, lesbians and the like by displaying rainbows flag on the facades of the church buildings and by using them at gatherings etc. But people keep stealing, 'vandalizing' and even burning those banners:.. understandable, because the flag itself is a provocation for true christians.

Now we shouldn't touch other people's belongings, let alone vandalize or steal them, but sometimes enough is enough. Ofcourse, scripture tells us to submit to governing authorities (Rom 13: 1-7), but isn't some sort of civil disobedience or even further action (in God's name) in order here? Like it says in Acts: We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5: 29)

I can well understand that a church displaying a Gay flag would prove to be provocative, but a peaceful demonstration rather than flag burning would send a better message. What kind of further action do you propose and what form would this civil disobedience take? How long would it be before Flag buning becomes Gay burning?

Maybe they should get a pole out in front to support strippers (figuratively?) with a keg of beer on the side in support of drunks? :)

I get that they are trying to not condemn people, or alienate them away from the Gospel (that is commendable), but you don't put up a flag in support of a particular sin. Like in my jest, are we to then start putting up other symbols representing sins that we will "embrace?" Yes we are all sinners, but hey, God can give you victory and allow it to not dominate your life by His grace. So while we embrace sinners, we are also realize that God gives us victory. We are changed, made into a new creation. So we ought not to pretend that we support sin in our lives when Christ paid for us to be victorious, to reign in life.

Yes, we welcome sinners, but we do not promote those lifestyles or encourage them. We are dead to sin and alive unto God. How can we live in sin when we have died to it? To a degree that flag, put on a church in support, is representing licentiousness, when in fact God has set us free from sin's dominion in our lives. Why would a church encourage people to be in sin when Jesus wants to set them free and give them victory?

That's YOUR question, I never implied we should start burning the gays.

What would Jesus done? Yes, it is true that gays are displaying their life style in a manner that can be difficult to understand, but should we be throwing them out of our churches due to that? By doing so we're hardening their hearts, and I dont think anything good will be the outcome then. Jesus has always been the one welcoming everybody, also the ones living in sin and misery, and there is no way we can reach out to people by denying them access to a place where the word of God is spoken.

You cannot make people feel like a particular sin is acceptable to make people feel welcome. When we go to church we are convicted of sin in our lives, or we should be.How can the Holy Spirit convict anyone with a flag of support hanging from the church? You make the person feel welcome in church, but not their sin. Jesus would not hang out a rainbow flag to attract gays.

I did not say that one particular sin, nor any sin, was acceptable. Neither did I advocate rainbow flags. The only thing I said was to not deny them access to church. Nobody can be convicted of sins in their lives if they are denied access to Jesus.

Another question just came to me. Would Jesus have burned one of those flags? I think you already know the answer.

Just who the "H" are any of us to have the unmitigated gall to think that we have the right to "forbid" anyone from seeking God?

No He would take a whip and beat the nonsense out of the false minister who approved this wickedness in His Name....Peter would probably kill them outright...Paul would probably blind these false teachers.

Yes its clear whats in the heart of those who defend this sort of wickedness. "H" is in the heart of anyone who promotes this wickedness in the name of Christ.

Jesus would have cleared the temple as He did in the NT...

No one can go to a church that has a gay flag, and find the true Jesus Christ....that just shows how far from Christ some folks really are who call themselves "Christians"...

This is just another divisive thread.
Its a divisive issue and the fact is we are supposed to divide ourselves from those who promote wickedness...

You don't have a flag on your church, so what's the problem? If they feel they want to do that to let homosexuals know they won't be shunned at their church, let them do it..... in peace.

I suspect you misread that passage. He didn't clear that small portion of the outer court of the Temple because they welcomed people that others shunned. He did it because the were using it for a marketplace.

God help you if you think we have to go to a church building to find Jesus.
