Re: "God doesn't give you commandments you can't keep." says street preacher.

Jesus said "if you love me,keep my commandments" did he not?
And His commandment is this:

"Then they asked Him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, "The work of God is this; to believe in the One He has sent." (John 6:28-29)

Jesus said there is only one sin attributed to man: "The world's sin is unbelief in me." (John 16:9)

Herose, This has been debated many, many times here on CC, but has it been resolved? I'm not sure that a conclusion will ever be settled on these matters until Jesus returns.
No, it hasn't been debated, it's been ignored many times. There really is no debate. Peter said what he said. There is only the unwillingness to hear what he said because it completely undermines cherished false doctrine.

Re: "God doesn't give you commandments you can't keep." says street preacher.

If you are suggesting that people can now keep the 10 commandments because they have spirit, then you are in just as much error as the street preacher is.
Not really because a person who has the spirit within them delights to obey Gods law.. Gods law still exists.. where? No longer written on stone oppressing you externally, but rather written on the heart rising internally. and that can only come from being born again.

I say obey Christ and follow Christ rather than say Obey the law and follow the law.

Gods law is still in effect. In fact by definition if you follow Christ then in one sense your following the laws of Christ. Only this time you delight in doing them and keeping them.

Peter himself said he couldn't keep the law, and here you are saying the opposite? He also said you are tempting GOD.

The law of Christ is not the law of Moses.

You will know that i do agree with you... please make a distinction between keeping the law to earn Gods favour and keeping the law because you have Gods favour. Understand the context of Peters statement and its relevant past, present or future tense statement

Amen. John 1:17 confirms that.
Good verse. It's worth displaying

For the law was given through Moses; and grace and truth became through Jesus Christ. John 1:17

No man except Christ can keep the law, even with the spirit. He can only walk in the righteousness required by the law through the spirit. Only Christ can (did) keep the law. Righteousness is not about following the law; it is about following the spirit. Christ didn't follow the law; he followed the spirit and so fulfilled the law.

"Christ is the end of the Law." (Romans 10:4)
Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth . . . Just wanted to finish the verse. Christ is the end of the law "to gain righteousness" . . . We now are MADE righteous through faith in Jesus Christ!!

OK,some of you get it,some don't.

The law came to reveal mans imperfectness.

The. NT is the LAW GIVER residing in the believer.

Paul was one of about 6 pple that was perfect IN THE LAW.

The street preachers law centered message was error by emphasis...the tail wagging the dog.

We are saved by the blood. Through the power of the HS we walk in HIS LOVE.

By walking in LOVE we keep his commandments.

Remember Jesus' words. "....on these 2 commandments hang All the law....."

Re: "God doesn't give you commandments you can't keep." says street preacher.

I think that street preacher was partially right. Calling anyone but Christ perfect is definitely wrong, but he is right that God didnt give us commandmants that we cant keep, but that we choose to not keep them. God is a God of indignation, because He knows we can do what He has asked us to. It is impossible to be saved under the law, but only because everyone of us decides to break the law. If it werent our own fault that we sin, wouldnt it be God who failed and not us? It is our fault that we sin, we are unrighteous, and we are unholy. But God has decided it is more pleasing to Him to have the wicked repent of their sins, and follow Him than to destroy them.

Not one of us are righteous, and not because Gods law is just not possible to follow, but because no man will choose to follow it their whole life. It is our fault that we sin, not Gods.

So it's not impossible to keep its just that no one has ever chosen to keep it. Got it.

Yes, Jesus told his disciples to keep HIS commandments.

I thought that was what I said...
