I was just watching a street preaching video where the preacher says, "God doesn't give you commandments you can't keep. God gives you commandments you can keep, that you refuse to keep. So, your issue isn't ability, young man, but willingness." He justifies this statement by saying God called Noah perfect, and He called Job perfect. This preacher doesn't even realize the bondage he is putting people under that eat up his message and convert to Christianity. Not only bondage, but guilt and condemnation.

Is this statement something a good portion of people within Christianity actually believe?

I would have quoted this to that preacher:

"Therefore they said to Him, “What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent.” (John 6:28-29)

That's it, and that's all.

The street preacher was correct. Jesus stated these things as well. I suppose that you will join in with purposely having people banned that believe the whole bible?

Very sad times...

And because lawlessness will be increased, the love of many will grow cold.

Seeing the above verse come to pass right now.
1 Corinthians 9:27 - But I keep under my body, and bring [it] into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Most don't even know the basic principles of righteous judgment according to God's word. But then, the overall belief with most today is that they don't need the word. God's word even speaks about this.

Do you believe you must work to keep your salvation?

I suppose you are going to hear what you want to hear. I've said it over and over again..NOBODY has been telling others that they had to keep the Law. We are all responsible and accountable for our own walk in and with Christ.

I believe that every word of God is true, regardless of who disagrees with that...

Call me legalistic if that's your preference. I'm glad that God is my judge and nothing is hidden from HIM.

I suppose you are going to hear what you want to hear.

Nope. It was a simple question that requires a simple yes or no answer.

Are you in any way responsible for maintaining your salvation through your own efforts?

If you are referring to the banning of a particular person, I was surprised to see them banned. I noticed their last thread though was one that condemned everyone else but not them and their church. Everyone else doesn't walk the narrow path, but they do (supposedly). I am not sure if that thread is what got them banned or who got the person banned, but its not really for us to discuss, lest we get banned.

The street preacher was correct? I think the preacher may be lowering the standard of the law to something he feels he can keep adequately and yet he falls completely short of the glory of God. His statement couldn't be further from the truth and one need not even a day to see they can't keep the commandments. They will, however, see their need for Jesus. :)

You won't hear the answer bud. Do you have your judgment gavel out? I can hear it...

Jesus is the way, the truth and the life...what part of that truth means that any of God's word should be ignored?

Amazing how some just hear what they want to hear.

That's interesting as they don't attend a church, they strictly study the bible.

You're still avoiding the question. If you don't want me to "hear what I want to hear" then simply state your belief.

Once again: Are you in any way responsible for maintaining your salvation through your own efforts?

Are you referring to this as their last post? Because it shows on their profile as their last post.

Peter himself said in Acts 15 that the law of Moses was a yoke that neither they nor their fathers were able to bear, and that those who were trying to bring the gentiles under bondage to that law were tempting GOD.

So now why are you putting God to the test by placing on the neck of the disciples a yoke that neither our fathers nor we have been able to bear? But we believe we will be saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way those also are.” Acts 15:10-11

Now Peter was the head of the church, and bore witness that neither he nor anyone else were able to keep the law, even those like himself who had received the spirit. Yet here you are proclaiming the very thing that he said tempted GOD.

Re: "God doesn't give you commandments you can't keep." says street preacher.

The street preacher is wrong!!
The purpose of the commandments were to show you that you CANT KEEP THEM and are in need of a Saviour WHO CAN KEEP THEM!!

Hypothetically if you can keep all the commandments and do keep all the commandments then why the hell do you need a Saviour for then.. ?
The law was never meant for us to obey in and of ourselves, because that would be called self righteousness. Gods intentions in the giving of the law was not for you to be righteous in your own self, but to understand your complete inadequacy and utter depravity so that the law DRIVES you and POINTS you to an abled, perfect, sinless SAVIOUR!!!

I believe in all of God's commandments from beginning to end. I believe that Every Word of God is true.

Goodness Herosefromthedead,

I've studied it, read it many times and have gone over and over these things prayerfully.

I think what you're really asking is "why won't you hear me?"

You're pretty good at evasion. But I do now believe you've answered my question - by refusing to answer my question.

Oh, and please don't play the martyr with the "stones" comment.

Re: "God doesn't give you commandments you can't keep." says street preacher.

The law was never intended for you to obey it out obligation...

The law was always intended for you to obey it out of a heart of willingness and eagerness... something you CANNOT (unable), do unless there is a fundamental change in your nature.. i.e until you are born again.

If you ARE obeying the law out of obligation then you are bringing yourself under the condemnation of the law. If you are obeying it out of obligation then you have completely missed the whole point of the purposes of the law and the need for a Saviour

IMO people don't get other people banned here. People get banned when they run afoul of the rules and cause trouble.

FWIW, the rules do state that we are not to openly discuss and bring into question what the moderators decide to do.
