Romans 12:3 - For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

1 Corinthians 12:9 - to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit.

God has granted a differing measure of faith to His children. I don't see this as faith that all Christians have in Christ, since Paul implies that some in the body have it and others don't. I see it as a special endowment of faith to accomplish certain tasks in ministry. Any thoughts?

Faith there (Rom. 12:3) is speaking of the Christian faith and the ministry of which each of us has been given a “measure of". No one person is capable of expressing the total faith-expression of the Body of Christ, the Church. Which is why we need each other.

I've heard it said that the gift of faith isn't some special endowment of boldness but actually ministering faith to those who would hear the Gospel. Like Billy Graham's preaching, for example. I don't know if that's an accurate perspective but I did find it interesting. Not so much a bold faith but an impartation of faith to hearers of the Gospel.

That may be wrong, in which case, it may be a faith that is courageous and bold, not doubting but absolute in certainty that God is working through you to do as He leads. If He told you to go to the cemetery and raise the dead, for example, that may take that kind of boldness for some (they don't have) and so He would impart a knowing within your heart, or an expectation of the miraculous.

I find it interesting that even though genuine believers have faith in Christ for salvation, they may not always have faith to allow God to get them through difficult situations (so they take matters into their own hands) or to accomplish certain tasks.

That's what Luther said too, "The sin underneath all our sins is the lie of the serpent that we cannot trust the love and grace of Christ and that we must take matters into our own hands.”

When Jesus walked on Galilee Lake, there were 12 disciples in the boat. How many got out to meet Him?

All believers have saving faith. But, not all of us say: "I believe, Lord; help thou my unbelief."

In short, I agree!

Amen to this. If people truly embraced the First Commandment with all of their being, seeing it as a statement of Love and not harshness, they'd be able to overcome any situation, if not physically, definitely emotionally and spiritually.

In My opinion, if one have a faith for salvation, he or she not afraid to die. because he or she know where to go after die, move to Paradise, 1000 time better than what we at know.

no body afraid go to better and peaceful place unless he don't believe/don't have a faith in the information about heaven.

God would have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth...

JESUS was not given faith by measure...

The grace of God that brings salvation has shined down upon ALL mankind..

Even though this is written to the church which was located to Corinth, and if I remember right the word All is used..not some....I personally believe that every man has been dealt a measure of faith....I.E. the ability to believe and then go on and do the work.....that faith may only be a divine spark or seed and if negelected will die...meaning...a man has the ability to acknowledge Christ and be born again..but if rejected the faith will not sprout and lead to eternak life and then the works for God which was prepared before thr casting down of the world.....IMO

I agree. And like Marc's comment on how many saved people got out of the boat.

In 1 Cor 12:9, I believe that this was a temporary extraordinary faith. These folks didn't have the completed canon of scriptures like we do. So they couldn't formulate doctrines that were complete. Specifically like the doctrine of Christian suffering.

God gave some the gift of mature faith because many were martyred in the early Church. It was a faith that could move mountains so these believers could die happily and glorify God.

I think we see it today to. Some people just have this gift of faith that it seems nothing gets them down, They are always out serving others and doing what they can to share that faith with them in their time of need, But they never seem to have a fear when things go on in their lives which are not good. They are always smiling.

HEB.11:30.
By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

JOSHUA 6:20.
So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass,
when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout,
that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him,
and they took the city.

here is a beautiful example of real FAITH - the substance of things hoped for and the evidence
of things not seen.

as it is written,
The just shall live by Faith.....
