1 Corinthians: 12. 28. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?
30. Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

All in the said verses was been tackle
After were baptized into one body and were all privileged to drink from one Spirit.

There is nothing wrong with you being baptized again. The submersion in water is a symbol of being buried with Christ. It is only a representation of what happens in the human heart. Many will argue that we are saved by baptism. This is true but it is the baptism into Christ which saves, the becoming one with him, not the submersion into water.

It doesn't matter how many times you are submerged in water as long as you aren't trusting in that act to cleanse your sins. Your sins are cleansed by the blood of Christ. It is in Christ alone that you must place all your trust for your salvation.

I have a ? about Baptism?

Now to my knowledge my mother had me Baptized as a Baby! As Adult I am going to be completely Honest Here!. I Was in Rehab. After i coined out in 2009 i got fully immersed! Now Im told it only takes one time . I totally understand that! I did something that i should not have done. ( Im Not Perfect) . I prayed i prayed and I asked for forgiveness numerous times.! So no one Told me that i had to , I felt in my Heart I needed to do it again. So I Got Baptized a Third time Same way ! Fully Immersed. My ? Is I had tried to look this up in the bible. Can we Get Baptized more than once? It Be Ok with Our Mighty God?
Salvation is through Christ. Sanctification is through the Spirit with our cooperation. Baptism is a sign. How many times do you need to make the same sign? Why keep making the same sign over and over again? It was a sign that you will follow Christ. When you find yourself not doing that, repent and get back at it. I just don't see the purpose in repeating it, but it's not the unforgiveable sin, so why worry if you have too?

(I was baptized twice -- once when I was a baby, since I grew up Catholic. And once as an adult when it was my decision. I now belong to a denomination that thinks even a RCC baby-baptism is enough. I feel no guilt for either. Actually appreciated the second time greatly, but see no need to repeat over and over again.)

I Take it this Is A Very Touchy Subject. ?
It's a touchy subject between those who believe that water baptism is absolutely required for salvation and those who believe that it is not. ;)

I was water baptized as an infant in the Roman Catholic church (which is unbiblical) but as an adult I received believer's baptism after I received Christ through faith (which is biblical) Acts 8:35-38; 10:43-47; 16:31-34. I did not get water baptized in order to join a particular church or to become saved, but because I was already saved by grace through faith in Christ.

I would equate infant baptism as similar to baby dedication in the Protestant church. I know Catholics believe differently about that...I was baptized as a baby but as a grown woman I also knew that the baby baptism was not the same as me choosing Christ and getting baptized.

As far as being re-baptized goes I would look at it more as a symbol of recommitting yourself..

When I was baptized it was so surreal to me and there was for sure a spiritual wonder going on. I have had ups and downs in life and I don't think I need another baptism or that I lost what I gained in the first because of the lows in my life since.

Except that the symbol represents our death and resurrection in Christ which happened once. That picture of ONCE should be kept intact as much as possible.

You only need baptized once, If you had it as a baby, that was her doing it, not you. You should of your own free will be baptised. after your conversion.

Just know that baptism does not save you or have any part of your gift of eternal life. thats what matters.

One Lord, one baptism, one faith.

Usually, people get re-baptized because they convert to another christian denomination than the one in which they previously got baptized. Did you love God less when you were a catholic?

In our creed, we confess One baptism, not two. Christians must learn to live their baptism instead of getting a new baptism because their faith has diminished.

Nor can a mentally disabled person. The practice of infant baptism is christian and it reflects love and concern from the part of the parents and of the christian community. If you believe in God and if you are coherent with what you believe than you baptize your child because you truly believe that through baptism you unite with Christ. If your child gets sick, you would get him to a doctor. Why not get your baby to the highest doctor and healer? Or do you believe that babies are born holy? They don't need a Savior?
I had both of my children baptized as infants, but not for their benefit, for my own, I was making a commitment in front of God and the church to raise them knowing God.

when they got older. and recieved Christ themselves They participated in believers baptism. which is them stating in front of God and the church, They had recieved Christ and wanted to dedicate their lives to live for him. And give a testimony of God to the unsaved of what they had done.

Yes, Like NT jews wanted to add physical circumcision to grace, sadly many modern day people want to add physical baptism to grace.

I don't take Rom 6 to mean water...

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into union with the Messiah Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, through baptism we were buried with him into his death so that, just as the Messiah was raised from the dead by the Father's glory, we too may live an entirely new life. For if we have become united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
(Rom 6:3-5)

but rather an operation of the Spirit...

For by one Spirit all of us—Jews and Greeks, slaves and free—were baptized into one body and were all privileged to drink from one Spirit.
(1Co 12:13)
amen
rom 6 says we were baptized into Christ and his death. No water in mentions. the verb baptizo was accomplished through the subjects death and burial Not water.

people forget. Baptizo is a verb, and action word. The subject or object of the verb is not always the same.

I completely agree! The only danger of multiple dunkings is if the one being submerged has the mind set that they are being saved again, and might have to do it even again if they sin too much.

A second baptism should only occur because the first time the one being baptized did not fully understand exactly what was happening or if they simply want to reaffirm their faith that they are completely trusting in Christ and his sacrifice for their salvation.

This is the baptism which saves.
Romans 6:3-11King James Version (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[SUP]5 [/SUP]For ,if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]For he that is dead is freed from sin.
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
[SUP]9 [/SUP]Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
[SUP]10 [/SUP]For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
[SUP]11 [/SUP]Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

This is the baptism into Christ. The water baptism is simply a symbol of this true baptism.

The first Time as an adult I truly didnt understand at the time. Again the second time around i did! perhaps that is y i felt different the second time around. i surely know and would not do it a Third time around. The danger here is that you impute significance to water baptism that is not there in the scriptures. There is no salvitic merit in water baptism.

The Holy Spirit alone is able to cleanse from sin. The washing of regeneration is through the Holy Spirit and administered by God alone.

For the cause of Christ

Of coarse not! Don't let anyone tell you that you did. Our salvation isn't some formula that must be strictly followed for success. It's a living relationship in which we put all our trust and all our faith in Jesus as our savior.

I have been baptized twice, the first time didn't count because as a child I was an attention seeker much to my regret and I knew I would loads of attention by being baptized and i was not a Christian so I got baptized.

The second time I got baptized I was a Christian and I knew my first time meant nothing because my heart wasn't in it and it was for me not God. If I have sinned by being baptized twice then thank God for his grace so I can move forward as if my sin never existed but I highly doubt I sinned by being baptized with the right heart and motives and If I am to be attacked or condemned for it then so be it but if others are attacked and being condemned for it then that is where I draw the line

I Appreciate your honesty.

Let me begin by saying two things:
1) No believer on this thread can claim that they have not sinned after being baptized
2) Sin has no degree in God's eyes. Lying is no different from sexual immorality, although the consequences may differ vastly.

Your first baptism is not supported by scripture. It is a man made tradition.
Your second baptism would be valid (it's between you and God) if you have believed, repented and have been immersed.

Now, what must one do if they have sinned after baptism?
The Apostle John tells us that believers are covered by the blood of Christ.
All they have to do is to confess their sins and repent. [1 John 1: 7, 9]
No need of getting baptized again.
However, if we play with sin after knowing Jesus, it is as if we trample Jesus under our feet, and deserve severe punishment.[Hebrews 10:26-29]

I'd like to add that you did nothing wrong by getting baptized the second time.
About the third time? Please do not worry!

I have to say that I agree with the marriage vow analogy given by Kaycie.
I also agree with the advice given by KennethC & some others.
There are some awesome people on this forum. :)
