Yes there is nothing wrong with getting baptized more then once, as I can relate as we do run into tough times in life and we feel a need by the Spirit to rededicate our lives to Christ.

I have been baptized 3 times myself; When I was 10, when I joined the Catholic church and finished their RCIA classes in 2008, and again after I left that church and went back to a Baptist church in 2012.

This is what getting baptized again shows is just a rededication to Him and there is nothing in the bible that says its wrong as long as you are doing it in the proper manner; Out of faith and love for Him.

The baptized as a baby I don't agree with as the concept of doing this is showing one has dedicated their life as a disciple to Christ, and a baby can not make that personal dedication. For that person could still grow up later and be a vial sinful person.

One Lord, one baptism, one faith.

Usually, people get re-baptized because they convert to another christian denomination than the one in which they previously got baptized. Did you love God less when you were a catholic?

In our creed, we confess One baptism, not two. Christians must learn to live their baptism instead of getting a new baptism because their faith has diminished.

Nor can a mentally disabled person. The practice of infant baptism is christian and it reflects love and concern from the part of the parents and of the christian community. If you believe in God and if you are coherent with what you believe than you baptize your child because you truly believe that through baptism you unite with Christ. If your child gets sick, you would get him to a doctor. Why not get your baby to the highest doctor and healer? Or do you believe that babies are born holy? They don't need a Savior?

The one baptism scripture does not mean that you can't or make it wrong to get baptized again, it is just stating and showing there is only one baptism that we can administer in the faith.

No I did not love God less when I was in the Catholic church which is why the Holy Spirit lead me quickly out of that church after only 5 years because of the controversial teachings.

Still there is nothing wrong with doing it as a symbolism to rededicate one's life to Christ, there is no scripture against that, and if one feels the Holy Spirit drawing them to do for conscious sake who are we to go against it. This is how I felt when I rededicated my life to Christ as the Holy Spirit drew me to do for conscious sake and for the sake of another who did not want to do it alone when I got baptized in 2012.

So it is not going against the doctrine of one baptism in the bible, as that baptism is a symbol of one dying to self and rising in a new person in the person dedicating their life as a disciple of Christ. This is what some are doing when they have fallen and then come back to the Lord, they are doing it as a sign of the rededication to being His disciple.

Talking about mentally disabled people leads to another issue all together, and no infant baptism was started by the Catholic church. It is not a Christian concept as no early documents from the first 3 centuries of the early church I have seen no such teachings mentioned.

The bible speaks on the age of accountability that if a infant dies before this time they will not be held accountable and will be in heaven. Look at the example of David and Bathsheba for example as their son was put to death for their adultery, but David says he will see his baby again. This can only be if he is in heaven !!!

Some people do like to go a little overboard and do take it a little to far, and in turn not realize they are putting a yoke or stumbling stone on others by making extra things wrong that the bible never says is.

Does it edify and make you feel better to want to do this and rededicate your life?

If yes that is all that matters !!!

:smoke: Everyone knows that only Christ Jesus can perform the baptism in spirit
and if we are of the many people who will be baptise in spirit or
be baptize my means of fire (spiritual)
then all of us would be greatful for that
Matthew: 3. 11. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

IMO, The Bible clearly teaches that a belief in Jesus that leads to complete trust (faith) must come before baptism.

Any baptism that came before belief was just wasted water. If at the time of your second baptism by immersion, you were unsure of your belief when you were first baptized; then it was the right thing to do. Once you are properly baptized, additional baptisms do no harm; but they are unnecessary.

When you get baptized you cloth with Christ (according to Saint Paul and the church). If you stain the cloth you don't need to re-baptize. You have to repent.

Imo, getting baptized more than once shows no faith. Just my opinion

Being baptized is like getting married- you make a lifetime commitment to God. You become part of the church- which is Christ's Bride. Now can a baby get married and make a lifetime commitment? Of course not. So to baptize a baby only gets a baby wet. There are no biblical examples of baptizing babies, children, or teens. As long as a child is still growing taller, they should not be baptized, because it gives them a false sense of salvation when they are an adult. What if you were fully immersed in a pool, are you baptized? No, so there has to be understanding, commitment, and full immersion.

Now if you got married, and consummated the marriage, can you ever remarry that same person? Some people redo their wedding vows and have a ceremony, but they are just really making the statement that they are still married and committed to each other. But you can only officially marry them one time. Now if you were not of sound mind and body, I would get baptized again, if you did not understand what you were doing, but if you did understand, it would just be like redoing wedding vows. But you do not need to get baptized every time you sin.

When you get baptized, you come into contact with Christ's life saving blood. You keep in contact with that life saving blood by taking the Lord's Supper every first day of the week in the assembly of the saints (Christians). Does this mean that if you miss church one Sunday you are no longer saved? No, compare Christ's body (church) to a physical body. How long can one of your limbs go without blood flow? After a few minutes your foot falls asleep, and it feels like needles when circulation is restored, but you are ok- same as if you miss church a few times.

But what if you tied a rubber band tightly around your finger? How long until gangrene sets in and the tissue dies? If it received no blood flow long enough to die, can it surgically be restored? No, it is gone forever and can never be part of the body again. This is like someone who gets baptized, then leaves God to go back to a life of sin, never to return, thinking they are saved, so they can sin all they want. When you are born again, and become a new babe in Christ, you need to feed on the word of God to stay alive (spiritually). It is not enough to get saved, you have to stay saved by staying in contact with the blood, and feeding off the Word.

Good for you, my Lady. Its between God and you. If what you did strengthened your relationship with God then rejoice and be glad. To God be the glory.

I don't take Rom 6 to mean water...

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into union with the Messiah Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore, through baptism we were buried with him into his death so that, just as the Messiah was raised from the dead by the Father's glory, we too may live an entirely new life. For if we have become united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.
(Rom 6:3-5)

but rather an operation of the Spirit...

For by one Spirit all of us—Jews and Greeks, slaves and free—were baptized into one body and were all privileged to drink from one Spirit.

It's just water.

Getting dunked in your local city-water a second time isn't going to hurt you.

Baptism has been a touchy subject for centuries.
But most protestants believe the scripture shows baptism as being full immersion, and to occur after the conversion experience (which is an internal decision).
Most protestant denominations don't see any problem with being baptized more than once, for re-dedication, or various other things.

There are plenty of protestants who are not "most protestants", and who disagree.
And to be fair, it's fine to listen to what they have to say, and look at the scripture.

It never hurts anyone to learn more about the scripture, and other people's views...
even if we disagree.

Two scriptures to consider to read:

Read Acts 2:38 and Acts 3:19 and notice how the second is the same as the first except that baptism (water immersion) form the first has been changed to converted. It is all one process that happens together !!!
