In this verse who is it that troubles us?

so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you

Thank you for your op.

Paul was talking about the non-believers who persecuted the church.

I know that letter was to the church who was really being persecuted for their belief in Jesus. This is still happening today in many lives and countries. The question leads me to question who is troubling ME at this time for my faith.

No one. And then I ask myself "should I be putting myself out more in witnessing?" I don't know - I teach the bible in my home (small group of 10), but there is no "troubling me" even though we have various opinions that differ.

I would be curious to hear from others if they are really being troubled because of their faith. I don't think I ever was. I was raised in a Christian home. And wherever I worked, no one cared what my beliefs were as long as I didn't trouble them!

My first persecution was from a lady Christian that dressed me down with angst for witnessing on the job.

Then a few sinners threw their stones through the years. The most 'beating up' I ever got were 'they of the house hold of God' and that's when I was following the party doctrines. Yea. Just couldn't win. Smile!

See sample offering: Lol. 'Which pastor'? But I ain't holding nothing against them. Love em all. Staying free. Staying blessed.

When the Thessalonians began to follow Jesus, they did not follow the pagan traditions followed by others. Furthermore, they began to spread the message of Jesus. Therefore they were persecuted by non-believers from their own locality.

Persecution can come from the following:

1. Family members
2. Friends
3. Enemies
4. Within the Body of Believers
5. One self
6. Unbelievers
7. Darkness in high places

Jesus was persecuted by religion leaders, family, community, and friends.

Speaking to the Thessolonian church in severe persecution; Paul prays that God will trouble the persecutors.

Ephesians 6:11-13King James Version (KJV)[SUP]11 [/SUP]Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[SUP]13 [/SUP]Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

=========================================

sounds a lot like David -

sometimes we're to pray for our enemies and at other times, especially when they are
interfering with the Will or Purpose of God, then we may pray that the Lord trouble them,,,,,

That is so interesting in the light of...

Matthew 5:44 (KJV) But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God,
for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your
own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the Lord.

How do you reconcile all these?

Asking God to enact His vengeance is not taking vengeance yourself... right? We are commanded to love God and our neighbour as ourselves, entrusting our lives to Him, and rejoicing in our circumstances regardless of what they are. Not always easy, I know :)

Those who trouble us is the World. Its everything in the World that can cause us problems and cause us to take our eyes off of God.

This may be the only time in all eternity that we can freely suffer for the cause of Christ...
