HI all,
Just wondering what it means that we go from faith to faith and glory to glory?Does it have anything to do with the fact that though outwardly we are wasting away ..inwardly we are being renewed day by day? (2Cor 4:16)

God's Word tells us to rejoice in all circumstances. Going from glory to glory makes me think of how keeping my focus on God allows me not to be overwhelmed or overtaken/defeated by my circumstances. In this way, though in my flesh I may see that I have failed often, I can always turn to God and see how He has triumphed over all failures of the flesh and brought us to new life in Him through His Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 3
3 Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, like some people, letters of recommendation to you or from you? [SUP]2 [/SUP]You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. [SUP]3 [/SUP]You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

[SUP]4 [/SUP]Such confidence we have through Christ before God. [SUP]5 [/SUP]Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. [SUP]6 [/SUP]He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.
The Greater Glory of the New Covenant

[SUP]7 [/SUP]Now if the ministry that brought death, which was engraved in letters on stone, came with glory, so that the Israelites could not look steadily at the face of Moses because of its glory, transitory though it was, [SUP]8 [/SUP]will not the ministry of the Spirit be even more glorious? [SUP]9 [/SUP]If the ministry that brought condemnation was glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! [SUP]10 [/SUP]For what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. [SUP]11 [/SUP]And if what was transitory came with glory, how much greater is the glory of that which lasts!
[SUP]12 [/SUP]Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold. [SUP]13 [/SUP]We are not like Moses, who would put a veil over his face to prevent the Israelites from seeing the end of what was passing away. [SUP]14 [/SUP]But their minds were made dull, for to this day the same veil remains when the old covenant is read. It has not been removed, because only in Christ is it taken away. [SUP]15 [/SUP]Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. [SUP]17 [/SUP]Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. [SUP]18 [/SUP]And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[SUP][a][/SUP] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Romans 1:16-17

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. For it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first, and also the Greek. 17 For in it the Righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith. As it is written,"The just shall live by faith."

HI all,
Just wondering what it means that we go from faith to faith and glory to glory?Does it have anything to do with the fact that though outwardly we are wasting away ..inwardly we are being renewed day by day? (2Cor 4:16)
2 Cor. 3:18 But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord.
2 Cor. 3:18 And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is Spirit. ESV

2 Cor. 4:16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man parish, yet the inward is renewed day by day. . . .While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

The process by which we are changed into his image - renewing our minds - putting off the old and putting on the new (Eph. 4:21-24) Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth. (2 Cor. 4:16) For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. Col. 3:2-4 (by doing 5-10, again putting off the old and putting on the new) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed (glory to glory) by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2

glory - doxa - 1) opinion, judgment, view; opinion, estimate, whether good or bad concerning someone, A. in the NT always a good opinion concerning one, resulting in praise, honour, and glory; splendour, brightness, A. of the moon, sun, stars; B. magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, grace; C. majesty; a thing belonging to God, the kingly majesty which belongs to him as supreme ruler, majesty in the sense of the absolute perfection of the deity; a thing belonging to Christ; the kingly majesty of the Messiah; the absolutely perfect inward or personal excellency of Christ; the majesty, A. of the angels, as apparent in their exterior brightness, a most glorious condition, most exalted state; of that condition with God the Father in heaven to which Christ was raised after he had achieved his work on earth; the glorious condition of blessedness into which is appointed and promised that true Christians shall enter after their Saviour's return from heaven

Yes it does,
John 3:30 KJVS
[30] He must increase, but I must decrease.

Our sufficiency becomes less of us and more of Him...

2 Corinthians 3:4-5 KJVS
[4] And such trust have we through Christ to God-ward: [5] Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

2 Corinthians 4:16-18

16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

The new creations will be reveled as such at the final Resurrection. The Holy Spirit works for the restoration of our "internal man" in this life and at Jesus Christ' second coming He will restore our physical bodies too and not only our bodies but all His creation (the entire cosmos). The change of our hearts doesn't happen overnight and doesn't happen in the same way with all Christians. But we trust in the work of the Holy Spirit.

Basically, his glory shows thru (we reflect his glory clearer) as our living (by faith) becomes less of us and more of Him.
We learn to rely/depend on Him more and more and less on ourselves.

Galatians 2:20 KJVS
[20] I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

here is some information from Andrew Wommack
+++

Here is Andrew’s commentary on a couple verses we know will be a blessing to you:

Romans 1:17 (KJV)
[SUP]17 [/SUP] For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:17
Note on Romans 1:17Notice that the righteousness of God has to be revealed. The Holy Spirit is the one who reveals God’s righteousness (1 Corinthians 2:9-16), and He does that through understanding the Gospel of grace.
Life For Today Study Bible NotesNote 3 at Romans 1:17: The expression “from faith to faith” describes the means whereby righteousness is given and retained. God’s righteousness cannot be earned; it can only be acquired through faith. As proof that righteousness received by faith is not a new idea or concept, Paul quoted Habakkuk 2:4, “The just shall live by his faith” (also quoted in Galatians 3:11 and Hebrews 10:38).
Note 4 at Romans 1:17: The just shall live by faith. They don’t just visit faith every once in a while or vacation there once a year; they live in and by faith.
Andrew Wommack's Living Commentary.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (KJV)
[SUP]18 [/SUP] But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

2 Corinthians 3:18
Life For Today Study Bible NotesNote 19 at 2 Corinthians 3:18: This phrase “open face” is a play on the symbolism of Moses’ veil that Paul had been speaking of since 2 Corinthians 3:13. The word “open” was translated from the Greek word “ANAKALUPTO,” and this Greek word means “to unveil” (Strong’s Concordance). Therefore, this is speaking of an unveiled face. Moses’ veil concealed the glory of God on his face, just as the Law blocks our view of the glory of God. When we get rid of our “Law mentality” (see note 14 at 2 Corinthians 3:14), we will be able to see the grace of God clearly.
Note 20 at 2 Corinthians 3:18: We behold this glory “as in a glass.” One compound Greek word, “KATOPTRIZOMAI,” was translated as the complete phrase “beholding as in a glass.” This word means “to mirror oneself, i.e. to see reflected” (Strong’s Concordance). Therefore, this glass is speaking of a mirror (as is James 1:23), and the idea is of looking at the glory of the Lord that is in us.
As we see the glory of the Lord that is within us through our union with Christ, our outer selves will begin to reflect that glory for all to see (Philippians 1:6). Many Christians envision God’s glory as being far off in heaven, and therefore, they don’t experience the transformation that comes by beholding the glory that is in us (Colossians 1:27). Paul gave us a prayer to pray that would open up our spiritual eyes to the riches of the glory of His inheritance, which is in the saints (Ephesians 1:18).
Note 21 at 2 Corinthians 3:18: The Greek word that was translated “changed” here is “METAMORPHOO.” This is the same word that was translated “transformed” in Romans 12:2, and it is the word we get our English word “metamorphosis” from (see note 8 at Romans 12:2). It is speaking of a complete transformation, like that of a worm to a butterfly. As we turn our hearts from the condemnation of the Law to behold the righteousness within us through the grace of Christ, our outer selves will be transformed little by little to reflect that inner glory.
This verse establishes a principle that we become what we behold. If we look on the sins of our outer selves, we will be enslaved to those sins, but if we behold the glory of the Lord within us, we will reflect that glory in our actions. “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7). Constantly focusing our attention on failure will actually cause failure, but focusing on Christ in us will produce a lifestyle like that of Christ.
The phrase “from glory to glory” is referring to being changed from the glory of the Old Covenant to the glory of the New Covenant.
