1 John 2:27 speaks of 'the anointing which ye have received...'

What is this anointing? Is it for today? Are we all to have it?

1John 2:24-29 (KJV)
24) Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
25) And this is the promise that he hath promised us, [even] eternal life.
26) These [things] have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
27) But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
28) And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
29) If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

I understand the anointing as the receiving of the Holy Spirit of God. :)

The anointing comes because you already have the Holy Spirit. w/o the Spirit their is no anointing. If you get the baptism of the Holy Spirit after being saved you will have the Kingdom of God living inside of you. the Holy spirit is the Kingdom of God. Its backed by scripture.

Jesus Christ is the Anointed One. If I am in Him and He in me, that makes me one with His anointing, doesn't it?

I believe it is the Holy Spirit Himself, for only a person, not a power will teach.

So then the anointing would be the Spirit Himself, rather than a gift given by Him?

Correct! The anointing is from Him; Himself, via the transforming power thru the Holy Spirit. The blessings are His results, it is a result of the anointing. It is not an anointing like a king anointing a knight either, it is a God who makes His relationship of humility in us to be accounted by Him. Which results in a blessing of real time power and supernatural blessings and yet even cost to ourselves for purposes He will reward in totality even later as well.

Hence Praising God is the ultimate end and aim of all we go thru. "Whoso offereth praise glorifieth Me." What does it matter whether you are well or ill. Whether you have money or none? It is all a matter of indifference, but one thing is not a matter of indifference, and that is that we are pleasing to the ears of God.

Paul had got back again by way of repentance into tune with God. 1 Timothy 1:13. and now He has his base as a worker in thanksgiving to Christ Jesus; his whole life has been brought into perfect relation to God.

The anointing is the manifest presence and power. It is what they recd in the upper room. It is what Samson operated under.
It is what David and Saul received from the prophet. It is what equipped David to conquer the lion, bear, and goliath.
It is what Jesus operated under.it is what made the prophet outrun the chariot and what Jehu was under when Jezebel was slaughtered.

It is the power Jesus decided we are to have to do GREATER Miracles.
It is how we will raise the dead, open blind eyes, love enemies, prophecy, and speak in tongues.

If anyone has not received the baptism of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands with the evidence of tongues,it would be wise,as a believer,to seek that gift.

It is offered as promised, and for me it took several months before one day God spoke and told me"today you will receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit"

Even then the first person to pray for me I didn't receive a thing.

2women then grabbed me outside the church, matched me in laid hands on me and it was as if I was hit by lightning.

oyster,

the typology is that when the kings were anointed in Israel, this is the TYPE -
but now, like it is written in Rev., 'that we shall be kings and priests' -
or another place says that 'we will be a royal priesthood', and indeed the priests were anointed also -
it only follows that we, being future kings and priests have to be 'anointed' from on High.

like it is written, 'and He gave gifts unto men'....
