Are all evil spirits controlled by Satan? The common belief among most believers is that evil spirits are controlled/sent by Satan to torment believers. Is this true? God has used evil spirits to accomplish His purpose. Ref: 1 Samuel 16:14-16 and 1 Samuel 18:1 ad 19:9. God sent an evil spirit to torment Abimelech and Saul. Here is the question: Does/will God use evil spirits to toment believers today to accomplish His purpose?

There are those that say "Whatever God has done before, He can do again!" If this is true then God can use evil spirits to accomplish His will in our lives. Satan was given permission to torment Job, does God give Satan authority to torment us? This raises many questions in regards to ministry, deliverance, torments and so forth. How do we identify the spirit and will we have authority over it?

I would appreciate any comments.

Yes, God will use the demonic realm to chastize someone, if need be. In the NT,
1 Timothy 1:19-20 (New American Standard Bible)

19keeping faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and suffered shipwreck in regard to their faith. 20Among these are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan, so that they will be taught not to blaspheme.

ONLY those that are in submitted obedience to the Lord and His written word will have authority over the demonic.
Does that answer your question?

I was aware of this passage as well as the ones in 1 Samuel. I am just seeking opinion of others. How does one minister to someone who has a God sent spirit tormenting them? How do you tell the difference between one and the other (God sent or Satan sent)? Theses are the just some of the questions that come to mind.

It doesn't matter if God sends it or if it is there because of sin. It is SIN that gives legal right to the tormenting spirit to be there. So the only ministering there is to do is to minister repentance. The person has to come to the point of truly understanding and believing that what they have done is wrong and then be truly sorry for it. WHEN the person truly repents, then the spirit can be commanded away/cast out. Of course, humility is always the key. And discernment and wisdom needs to be used because, at least for a while, humility can be faked.

Yes. G-d created evil, it is bent to His Will, and He most certainly will use it to accomplish His purposes.

satan is God's servant and God sent evil spirits to deceive the Jews and give them temporary blindness, until the fullness of the gentiles come in.

1co 5:5To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

God does not send evil spirits to torment an obedient, following believer. He also doesn't send one to people casually just because He wants to, but wisely weighs out the effects of it on the person and the people around them on whether or not the person is at some point compelled to turn back to God. Everything He does under the new covenant is for the purpose of redemption. He is good all the time and desires that none should perish(2 Peter 3:9).

The most common open doors to be demonized are unforgiveness, sexual immorality, and occult practices (witchcraft, satan worshiping, spiritual mediums, etc). Sexual immorality and occult practices are the quickest way for you to invite the demonic in your life. Unforgiveness is the quickest way for you to get God to send tormenting spirits(Matthew 18:34-35). I have actually witnessed that and have talked to others in deliverance ministry that it is almost impossible to cast a demon out of someone who is unwilling to let go of their unforgiveness. The reason is because God is the one who put them in their prison of torment. This is the best example I can think of under the new covenant where God is actually the one who does it.

It is important to recognize the difference between captives and prisoners. Captives are those captured by the enemy and prisoners are those that God put into prison. When delivering people of the demonic you have to identify which one they are, otherwise you may be there forever with no results. When I am with someone who is demonized usually the first question I will ask is if they need to forgive someone. This settles about 90% of the prisoner issues if they forgive, or do not have anyone they need to forgive. If they say no angrily they are probably lying. If they say that they don't want to forgive so and so, then there is not much you can do about the demons around them until they choose to forgive, because God put them in their prison.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Satan can only use what was created by God. This would mean that Satan cannot create anything but use what is already here. I feel that God gave us the ability to speak to a mountain and it will be removed and cast into the sea. So with that in mind, maybe WE CREATED THE EVIL SPIRITS!!! So let's get busy casting them into the sea and STOP giving Satan all the credit. But that's just my outlook on it.

I'd like for you to show me this in Scripture, please :)
Luke 10:19(NASB)(emphasis mine)
19"Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you.

Luke 4:18(NASB)(emphasis mine)

18" THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME,
BECAUSE HE ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR.
HE HAS SENT ME TO PROCLAIM RELEASE TO THE CAPTIVES,
AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND,
TO SET FREE THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED,

When Jesus gave his life on the cross as the sacrifice for the sins of the world, He also redeemed us from Satan’s power and dominion over us. “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it” (Col. 2:15). “...For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8). Jesus already won, and His blood paid for all sin. So the devil has nothing to present to God that would compel God any longer to even entertain or consider one of his(the devil) arguments like we saw in Job.

But your scriptures nowhere say, "except if you're being a disobedient believer". Follow my drift?

ps. I don't have all the answers here, just trying to understand. So convince me :)

I'm glad to see this post. Most the time I see people saying there is no such thing as demons.

So, yes God allows bad things to happen to us, but as we can see from many NT verses, we go through persecutions and other things so that we may be refined like gold through a fire. because where we persevere, there's character, and character hope, and that hope does not disappoint. Romans 5:3-5

In the case of Saul in the book of Samual, Saul specifically had the Lord's Spirit lifted from him through disobedience and so God allowed an evil spirit to affect him.

Do you think God really needs to convince evil spirit to attack people? God asks Satan if he has seen His servant Job and Satan said he had, but then tells God that had he not protected Him he wouldn't be faithful to Him, then God allows Satan to ruin Job's life. That wasn't a commission, that's an allowance of Powers. God allows things to happen.

Ok lets look at it from a different angle. It is true that once you are a believer that you become a temple of the the Holy Spirit, right? Once you become a temple and the Holy Spirit, He dwells inside of you He calls that temple Holy. God tells us to treat our bodies as His temple as if it was Holy. Now if God tells us to treat it Holy, what would compel Him to not do the same? Would sending demons to defile His temple be treating the temple as Holy? This is another distinction between our time and Job's time and between the different covenants we are under. I am super glad that you are really thinking about this instead of just taking what I say. It is a blessing when Christians are actually able to think for themselves :)

Can we extrapolate from Ezekiel chapter 8 that the human temple of the Holy Spirit is also filled with "many detestable things"? It is a curious thing to assume that because the Holy Spirit inwells us that we no longer struggle with sin. Yes, sin has been forgiven, however it must still be subdued in each of us by fully submitting to the Holy Spirits guidance and urgings. We must submit ourselves and confess our sins to God. Then and only then will Satan flee from us.
