instead of persecuting the church, the world would be wise to ignore us and we would just turn inward and eat ourselves. But the world can't resist and so its hatred of the the church will heat up and it will unite us against a common enemy and the church will flourish and grow....just like it did when it began.

Well...I do not think that bears out...Jesus asked if he would find faith when he returns..Paul said that there would be a great apo-hystamie (apostasy) before the return of Christ.....and just like it was in the days of Noah....the majority of the world was sold out to violence, sin and corruption...also...both Daniel and Revelation teach a war made on the saints the wearing out of the saints and a scattering of the power of the holy people....the influence of Christianity is waning and more believers are worldly and every day the tenants of biblical Christianty are sold out in favor of fun, games, entertainment, praise rock bands, potlucks and give the dog a bone ministries....IMO

The world is forced to persecute the Church/Christians. By discrediting the Church/Christians/Faith, they are able to make excuses for their ungodly lives. If they acknowledge God, the Faith, they are forced to acknowledge their ungodly lives.

All this was spoken of by Jesus.

Not disagreeing with either of these points. What I am saying is that the more the world tries to destroy it the more it will flourish. Jesus already won. Take China as an example...it's illegal there...but growing. It'll be illegal here too someday. Maybe even within ten years.
